Who: Masaomi and anyone who comes

When: 18th, Midday-ish (it's really on the 19th, but draft)

Summary: Masaomi wanted to see his friends before the draft and ts' his birthday tomorrow. So he took the thing Mikado Announced and decided to make it on the day before to make it easier on everyone

[Well it's a "party" - Masaomi at least didn't plan for things like decorations or a cake, so there's just the video games, pool table, air hockey, and whatever else is normally here. If other people brought cake or food though, that's good! His message said that this was't planned (mostly because with is broke arm he can't lug anything and he didn't want to force that on Shikamaru. But yeah!! Let's... okay so it might not be the most enjoyable thing ever given the date, but let's interact!

I'll be making subthreads for gifts and food (the later because it's not supplied so people know what's there) but other than that make your own thread, mingle, mass log stuff ♥ If you character is a friend of Masaomi's assume he rang them about the date-change. Same for anyone who replied to Mikado's entry about it. If you want to crash it that's okay too, or say you heard from someone else or just followed someone there or... anything...]

I was hoping so, but I wasn't sure. But if you're sure... then sure.

[It's easy to drop her gaze and focus on clasping the bracelet.

There may be the faintest blush as she takes care of it - or it may be the light. This feels weird.]

[Oh her gaze is down. Hm. Well then, he'll try to keep his arm in place and crouch a bit to lean in and plant a kiss on her head. All her can reach is her forehead of course, but it makes the point. It's his birthday, even with the friendzone agreement, he feels like he can violate it just a little.]

I'm sure.

[That was unexpected - and public - and Katara gasped a little at the contact, immediately stopping what she was doing to look up at him. She does not, however, drop her hands or step back.]

What was that for? You can't just do that.

[She doesn't want to spoil things on his birthday, but that very clearly crossed a line.]

[...No speech? No hitting him? He's not sure if this is bad or good. He stands his ground]

Does your tribe have any tradition of people back home giving things to warriors before they set out, for luck? It's a common thing in Earth cultures.

[Frown, frown.]

Are you telling me you gave me a kiss for luck?

No. I gave you a kiss because I wanted to, but now I'm thinking about it, I'm going to give you something else for luck. [...A beat] Or well, I suppose luck would insult you. Let's say "a kinder fate."

[A "kinder fate" - that was what her other self had written to him.

Ha.

And he was going to give her something to change her fate? She chooses to ignore that last part of his statement entirely. Luck wouldn't insult me.]

It's your birthday, I don't want anything from you, and you can't kiss me just because you want to.

Ah. That's so? [A light hum. Well then. He moves his wrist a little, indicating for her to finish]

[She frowned down at his wrist and then looked up at him. She'd alluded to it before, but since he was pushing, now she was going to outright say it.]

And I don't want you wearing this just because I gave it to you - only if you like it.

[...but she can't quite finish with "that's all," because... that wasn't all.]

...Uh huh.

[There's so much belief on this face you wouldn't even believe it. Not eve Naruto would]

[She frowns and drops her hands, taking the bracelet with her. She even leans back.]

I mean it, Masaomi.

[If his face continues to reflect that much belief, she'll just start to turn and storm off, muttering how this was a bad idea under her breath, and yes, taking the bracelet with her. If he modifies his facial expression, nix this paragraph and we'll see what happens.]

[Nope nope nope. He holds the wrist up towards her face now, putting it in front of her eyes before lowering it to reveal a genuine smile]

It's really my style, Katara. I do't think I'll ever not wear it once you put it on.

[That wasn't what she was going for. Just on occasional reminder.

Or maybe she was lying to herself. Either way she frowned as she put it on him, looking down again and muttering:]

I don't think it's made to survive water damage.

[So you should totally take it off when you shower and things.]

Eeeeeh, can't you do something about that? it might be a hassle to take it off for those times. [But his wrist is right there. And... she's putting it on now. Excellent. Once she finishes, he shifts his hand to look at it again... it's clearly nothing special, ultimately. It's not even the prettiest piece of jewelry he's ever seen, even if he does like it quite a bit.

...Hah. You know what.]

[She gives him a skeptical look.]

What about the rest of these bracelets?

Leave them on the table? There's a lot of other gifts.

[She wasn't sure how she felt with him walking away and wearing just the bracelet she'd given him. But somehow taking his hand and shoving a few more bracelets on it just to make that point seemed, not only ridiculous, but also like she would be issuing a challenge that he might make her regret in the future. As it was she still had a chance to keep this bracelet as a casual accessory... after that, not so much.]

All right.

[She leaves them there, clearly dubious, and her skirt swirls around her ankles as she moves to follow him.]

[He hums a bit at her movements and what he can sense of her facial expression. He goes to walk to the door of the Rec Center to head on outside. A bit of night air, maybe? Though as he's doing this, until the reach the door, he itches the back of his head with his hand - a rough approximation of the hands behind the head thing he would do if his shoulder wasn't a bust. Either way, once at the door, he gets it open and nods for her to follow]

[Oh - outside? She thought he meant to like a game or... something. She gives him a searching glance as she passes by, but doesn't hesitate to do as he asked and step outside.]

Did you want to talk with me about something?

If I was real ambitious, I'd make good on heading back to my apartment to give you that trinket. [A hum. He's still turned back to her before he walks a bit off to the side of the front door of the Rec Center and then turns to face her]

Sadly, that might be too much, eh?

Just a bit.

[It was a warm June night, and there was a nice breeze. Katara rubbed one arm with her other hand after the wind passed over them.]

It's your party, you shouldn't leave for so long.

That's true! I do have a lot of adoring fans!

[He crouches a bit for her, an awkward position given his cast, but he's doing that thing where he leans in an down towards her with his arm in a little bow motion. He uses the cast arm for that and the wrist with her bracelet he puts out in front of him]

[She's not paying too close attention to his antics, as she's become somewhat used to them. But she is watching him a little more closely than she normally would be. He must have asked her to come out here for a reason, and if talking him in to staying at his party wasn't it (and she doubted it) then... she hadn't the faintest clue what was. So she watched his eyes for cues.

And in response to his statement and casual space invasion, Katara rolls her eyes lightly.]

I don't know about that, but you did have a lot of friends show up.

It's true. I've gained a lot of those things you might call "friends" over time here, haven't I? [And he examines his bracelet again, still in the invaded space - bringing it between both of those faces] Including you, of course.

[...boy, what are you doing.

She reaches up to grasp his arm just above his wrist and lightly push down so she doesn't have to crane around his wrist to see his face]

That's right. Though I wouldn't call friends "things."

[Just. For the record.

Also, she is starting to look mildly suspicious.]
