I've been chillin' out on a star with my 5 star view

Who: All draftees
What: The space battle commences
When: After 3PM on the 19th to the 23rd
Where: In Space! On the Moon!
Summary: The battle finally begins! First there's asteroids to take down, then we finally arrive!
Rating: SPACE

MORE SPACE

All the details you need are here, so read up on it. This didn't get mentioned before, but you can tag the cultists instead of killing them. Details on this are on a previous draft post. Using the scanners are optional!

There will be a thread for interacting with NPCs, but they may not all go up at once, so keep an eye out for them.

Note: A log for the events in the village will go up on the 21st, in time for the hurricane and droid incursion.

[For some reason, that makes him kind of ticked. How dare you. An at least one of them is weighing their options, Chien and Soren are more or less looking to pick another fight if any new ones appear.]

So!? Just because I'm new doesn't mean I'm not a good partner! Don't underestimate us.
cooltrainer: (Get out of here)

[personal profile] cooltrainer 2012-06-27 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not, you're performing at the level you should be.

[Green recalls Rhydon before he turns a corner, dragging Chien with him, and releases Scizor. The metallic bug attacks and keeps the approaching cultists at bay.]

After this draft, you're mine.
dogboy: (06 and the girls report to the call)

[personal profile] dogboy 2012-06-27 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well that's kind of comforting. That he's right on track. So he'll let himself get dragged away, Soren swooping over the small battlefield to await his chance of tripping some of them up.]

No way! Silver's teaching us! And he's been doing a damn good job of it too, so don't even think about it!
cooltrainer: (Pap)

[personal profile] cooltrainer 2012-06-29 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Silver's too reckless for what you need. I'm his senior, anyway, you'll learn more from me.

[Green gestures to the bird, pointing it to join with Scizor's attack.]

Follow Scizor, he'll lead!
dogboy: (05 start the name callin)

[personal profile] dogboy 2012-06-30 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[A trill's the only answer, the Taillow following Scizor's lead carefully and using Double Team to keep the enemy off balance for the other.]

Silver's reckless? And don't tell Soren what to do, he's my partner! Just let us be!

[But honestly you trainers are missing out on a ton of fun standing back here commanding your friends. Chien's itching to get back into battle with his fists and feet, and it shows in the way he's restlessly watching them and trying to inch forward.]
cooltrainer: (The trainer has to be involved)

[personal profile] cooltrainer 2012-07-01 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
He is. He seems collected, but he fights entirely from his gut.

[After a short while leading, they round a corner. There's more cultists, so Green recalls his Scizor and sends out Rhydon. He hops onto the Pokémon's back, grabbing Chien to sit behind him.]

If you're going to be a good trainer, you have to balance risk-taking with strategy. You're fighting separately from your Pokémon, too.

Rhydon, Stomp!

[The giant creature growls, stomping amidst the cultists.]
dogboy: (05 start the name callin)

[personal profile] dogboy 2012-07-02 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Risk-taking with strategy. Right. He's gonna be the best damn trainer, Green, don't mistake. Chien thinks, watching the cultists. Watch, predict, act, react. That's what Silver was teaching them. He holds up his hand.]

Don't get in our way. Soren!

[The Taillow rounds back and pokebirds are bullshit seriously picks up Chien, flying around the cultists while his trainer kicks expertly at their heads, knocking a few out. They'd been practicing that separate from the group at Silver's suggestion of flying with the little bird. How's that, teach? They'll even get behind the foes to await orders.]
cooltrainer: (You do NOT mess with grandpa)

[personal profile] cooltrainer 2012-07-03 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
[It's good, but Green still ends up using Earthquake, since Chien is comfortably safe and in the air.]

There'll come a point where that Pokémon will be able to do more than you can! That's when your role changes, so that you are directing it!

[He positions himself higher to avoid the attack of a cultist, but at the same time swings and kicks another that had grabbed and attempted to grapple the rock-type.]

The trainer has to be involved... but he has to lead!
dogboy: (04 i tell the fellas)

1/2 the moment's arrived!!! because chien is stupid

[personal profile] dogboy 2012-07-03 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[Chien looks up at the bird, who gives a whistle, and nods.] That guy's really something else, Soren. It looks like tricks aren't going to be good enough. Let's try something new, alright?

[He lets Soren fly free, giving an awkward-feeling order for a Double Team to back him up as he slips between through the crowd himself while they're distracted. Before he can call out for another attack though go for with his own next move, he's hefted up by one of the soldiers and the others keep him from struggling to get away.

It's just a split-second when the Taillow sees this, and he gives a sharp cry, the decoys disappearing as he starts for his trainer.]
dogboy: (12 beast off me)

[personal profile] dogboy 2012-07-03 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[Soren doesn't care what Green might try to save Chien himself, but this bird's flying hard and fast and... changing?! The boy can't believe his eyes as his little Taillow's enveloped with white and evolves into something bigger and a lot more powerful looking.

Wait, it's Swellow! He remembers that. Soren's going with a full-force attack of Return, knocking those bastards out of the way one by one, and taking Chien in his beak from the soldier that'd capture him and back to Green and his Rhydon for safety. Chien's just stunned. Wow. But it was because of his own stupidity that Soren had to evolve, and that realization hits him hard.]
cooltrainer: (Interesting)

[personal profile] cooltrainer 2012-07-05 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
[Green chuckles, and presses Rhydon further into the ranks. The Pokémon presses forward and pushes the forces back, giving Green room to hop down and give Swellow and Chien a look.]

It's evolved. Are either of you hurt?
dogboy: (07 the poor dog show down)

[personal profile] dogboy 2012-07-05 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm... I'm fine. [he's evooolvveddd ahhhhh ahhhh Soren really does look so cool now and he knows it. The Swellow chirps his own 'fine' and stretches his wings to show. Chien bets that the other's feeling pretty strong now too.]

I forgot how big they are. I met... what was his name? Whatever, some guy's once. What now, senior?

[look he's taken you as his own gj green]
cooltrainer: (Evaluating)

[personal profile] cooltrainer 2012-07-06 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sigh. Well. He told Gold he wasn't going to deal with it but looks like he's knee-deep in it.]

We fall back, take a quick rest, then find a group to scatter. Swellow is a close-combat fighter, so it'll be best to target a smaller group. That way, his attacks are much more effective, and you can learn to keep track of him in progressively more chaotic settings.
dogboy: (05 start the name callin)

[personal profile] dogboy 2012-07-07 12:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. Just lead and we'll follow.

[On Soren, that is. Because Chien's still slight despite being in Luceti for about half a year now, it's no trouble for the powerful bird to let Chien ride on his back. Even if the other's a good two feet taller than him. ... They'll have to work on this.

oh right hold on let him get Soren's new form on his Dex too--]
cooltrainer: (Glance)

[personal profile] cooltrainer 2012-07-07 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Green leads them to a spot already cleared out, where he releases all three of his Pokémon and uses some beverages and snacks to reward and refresh them.]

Did you bring anything to drink for your Swellow?
dogboy: (07 the poor dog show down)

[personal profile] dogboy 2012-07-07 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oooh. Let him check uhhh yyyes! Yes! Water. Good.]

We were going to split it half and half, but I guess you could drink the whole thing now by yourself, huh? [Soren chirps in agreement as well as gratitude, and Chien lets him drink from the bottle.]

I didn't think there'd be so many in here. There's a ton more outside though.
cooltrainer: (Put away)

[personal profile] cooltrainer 2012-07-08 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
That's right. It's important to pace yourself; the worst thing you can do is get caught off guard, when you're tired from fighting too intensely.
dogboy: (07 the poor dog show down)

[personal profile] dogboy 2012-07-08 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't tire that easy. Soren probably won't either, now that he's as strong as he is, but I'll keep an eye on him.
cooltrainer: (Hand it over.)

[personal profile] cooltrainer 2012-07-09 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Even if you don't tire easily, you still tire. And it's important to keep your pace slow when advancing in this place, since there are many ways for an enemy to unexpectedly appear.

What makes a trained Pokémon tougher than a wild one is the trainer's restraint and judgment. It's up to the trainer to make decisions for the better, and the best decisions are ones of conservation and preparation.
dogboy: (07 the poor dog show down)

[personal profile] dogboy 2012-07-10 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
[He nods hesitantly, and then repeats the motion with more understanding. When he and his brothers were just starting out fighting for themselves, it was something like that. So it'll be fine.]

What about enemies who're your weakness? Like electricity for Soren here. Wouldn't it just be better to go all-out and hit them hard before they hit you?
cooltrainer: (Rest assured)

[personal profile] cooltrainer 2012-07-11 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
Flying types are also weak against Ice and Rock.

Typically, using that tactic is best when you're in a one-on-one situation. If you're overwhelmed by enemies that all strike against your disadvantage, you would want to disable their ability to attack. Obscuring their vision would make it easier for you to attack unseen and dodge their attacks.
dogboy: (05 start the name callin)

[personal profile] dogboy 2012-07-11 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ice and Rock aren't something he's concerned about, considering the opponent he's thinking about, but he'll keep in mind that frost isn't good for wings and rock crushes them.]

So I need to keep those things here from being able to attack. [Briefly, he wishes for some sort of dirt they could find that they could team up with Whirlwind. That'd obscure their vision.] Do you think you could... I don't know, have one of your partners create some dirt or something? With Soren's wind, they'd never be able to attack.
cooltrainer: (Evaluating)

[personal profile] cooltrainer 2012-07-12 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
The enemies at the moment don't use electricity.

[Green's getting out his Pokédex and scanning Soren, getting a good look at it. He's quiet for a moment.]

Electric type Pokémon are weak against Ground types, and nothing else. Usually, it doesn't matter, because electric types are incredibly frail. Most bird Pokémon are able to use something called Sand Attack, which is the type of tactic you're describing. Swellow does not learn Sand Attack at all, and the attack doesn't do any damage anyway.

You're planning to fight someone who has an electric type.
dogboy: (05 start the name callin)

[personal profile] dogboy 2012-07-12 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[Chien nods, no use in hiding that bit of info.]

I wasn't aiming for damage anyway, just a distraction or something to get in their eyes like when you throw dirt at someone's face. [Soren is more of a damage liking kind of bird though, and he harumphs at that tactic.]
cooltrainer: (This is serious)

[personal profile] cooltrainer 2012-07-12 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
An alternative is an attack called Double Team. It will increase Soren's ability to dodge attacks, using his inherent speed.

I'm sure he could know how to do it and be taught fairly quickly.

[He's eying that bird! He just might teach you how to teach your Pokémon, Chien.]
