Summary: Sophie is having her fourth birthday! Come and share in her special day, and have lots of cake while you're at it. ♥
Rating: It's a four-year-old's birthday party. If this goes above G, Grune will come and kick your ass all the way around Luceti. :|
[Children's birthday parties aren't exactly common in Luceti, but this one has turned out pretty well despite the lack of practice. The gang at House 34 and their friends put a great deal of effort into making sure Sophie got the celebration she deserves, and it shows.

The rec centre is decorated up with lots of bright colours, thanks to Rapunzel's creativity and Mac's manual labour, with some interactivity to them, too. The tablecloths are made of giant sheets of paper with colouring supplies provided for the young and the young at heart. There are possibly a few more flowers around than most four-year-olds would have at their parties, but discouraging Grune is hard to do, and they do look nice.

There are games, too--mostly the sorts of things that would be appropriate for a four-year-old, like Pin the Tail on the Donkey or Pass the Parcel. There are balloons about to bat about and balls and blocks to play with, and of course no one would ever steal any spare balloons and make water balloons out of them. Of course not. :|

The food is awesome, of course, and definitely falls on the sweet side of things. In addition to Ryoji's cookies, there's lots to eat--the baking-inclined of House 34 went all out. And of course, there's a giant cake with tons of icing and the message "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SOPHIE!"

As for the birthday girl herself--well, she's looking pretty chill. But anyone who knows her well or looks carefully can tell she's definitely engaged and having a good time...even if she's not the most demonstrative of kids. Luceti, you done good.]

[Sophie gets a determined look on her face that any of her housemates but Grune would recognize as a bad sign. "I can do it."

It's worth noting at this point that Sophie is a budding iron eren--meaning that occasionally, she gets bursts of super-strength. She can't control it too well just yet, but that hasn't stopped her from trying before in similar situations.

Unfortunately, Grune doesn't think to mention this.]

That's right, Sophie! Give it your all!

[Blissfully unaware of Sophie's talent, Hiro continues to encourage the girl.]

Come on, Sophie! Just give it a whack, and let us know if you want help!

[A little more firmly than before: "I can do it."

She smacks the pinata with her stick, but it only goes spinning away on the string.]

Oh, that was a good try!

[everyonesconfidant]

Yeah! Good try! Give it another shot, okay? [Hiro holds the pinata back in place, then lets it go so it's ready for another hit.]

[Sophie gives it another smack, but the pinata holds firm. And then another. And another.

...She starts looking frustrated. Uh-oh.]

You can do it, Sophie!

[everyonesconfidant]

That's the spirit, Sophie! But are you sure you don't want us to help...? [He can tell the little girl's getting frustrated, and that worries him a bit.]

[Oh dear. Bad move, Hiro. Not only is Sophie a four-year-old, but she's an independent four-year-old--which means she really doesn't like people questioning her ability to do things. She's a big kid, dammit!

Now she's sounding frustrated on top of looking it. "I can do it!"

And to prove that she can, she does her best to force her iron eres into working. Her fingernails begin to glow with a brilliant light as she winds up for a really good smash.

...It's a bad sign when Grune starts looking concerned.]

Sophie, dear, you don't need to use your eres.

[Hiro can tell something's up (as if it wasn't totally obvious). Unfortunately, he's clueless as to just what it is...] Eres? What's an eres? Sophie, if Grune says you shouldn't be using it, you probably shouldn't...

[Too late. Sophie swings the stick with all her magically-enhanced might.

SMASH!

Candy explodes from the pinata, flying in every direction. Paper mache follows in its wake, plopping to the ground here, there, and everywhere. What's left of the pinata jerks and spins on its string, looking very pathetic indeed.

Sophie wears an extremely satisfied expression as she surveys the destruction. See? She told him she could do it.

Grune, for her part, looks slightly dazed.]

...Oh, my.

[everyonesconfidant]

[At first, all Hiro does is stare at the destruction, dumbfounded.] "Oh my," indeed...

...Well, how about we get started picking up the candy?

[lostinmyway]

["Kay." This is a good plan. Sophie likes it.

She sets to work. And, after a moment, so does Grune.]

[everyonesconfidant]

Let's see... if the three of us get creative about how to hold the candy, we should all be able to pick it up! [He has already started picking up his share of the candy, occasionally looking up to see how Sophie and Grune are doing.]

[lostinmyway]

[For the moment, Grune is doing just fine with picking things up, although that's certain not to last.

Sophie...seems more interested in eating the candy than collecting it. Whoops.]

[everyonesconfidant]

[He notices what Sophie's doing...] Sophie, don't you think you should save some candy as a snack for later? It's a bad idea to eat it all at once.

[lostinmyway]

[Sophie thinks this through. Saving candy to enjoy later is something she's still learning about, but she's well used to people talking about spoiling her appetite. And so, with a big sigh, she starts picking up the candy.]

That's it, Sophie!

[Grune is all about the positive reinforcement.]

[Hiro is keeping a goooooood eye on Sophie to see if she sneaks any more candy.]

Yes, Sophie! That's good! Save your candy for later. That way, you have dessert for a few nights.

[lostinmyway]

[Okay, now Hiro is talking her language. Dessert tends to be pretty good at House 34, but when you're four, there's no such thing as too much of it. No more sneaking candy for her!

Grune, meanwhile, is wandering farther and farther afield in her search for candy. ...Maybe a little too far.]

[everyonesconfidant]

Good, good... [Then he notices.] Um, Grune, I don't think the candy flew that far away!

[lostinmyway]

[She straightens and turns around, a finger resting against her cheek.]

Don't you?

[Sophie sighs. There goes Gee Girl again....]

[everyonesconfidant]

Um... no...? [Grune's bouts of airheadedness tend to confuse Hiro a bit.] Well, that was a pretty hard hit. Maybe some did fly over there.

[lostinmyway]

[Grune nods a few times. Sophie is very strong, so maybe they did come over this far.]

I'll keep looking!

[everyonesconfidant]

Right! And I will, too! Let me know what you find! [After some rooting around in the grass, he asks Sophie:] What kind of candy have you found so far, Sophie?

[lostinmyway]

["Choc'late." She holds it out to show him.

She's not so sure what these other things are, but at the very least, Sophie knows chocolate when she sees it.

Meanwhile, Grune is just going to keep wandering....]

Ah... chocolate is good! I wonder what the other candies are, though.

...Hey, Grune? Where are you going? Are you even looking for candy anymore?

[Grune turns, looking a bit muddled.]

Hmm.... I wonder.
