So... meanwhile, back at the ranch, there were opportunities for those who have caught their journals to know who's coming, and those who have not caught their journals to be taken by surprise at the new Water Tribe member in the house.

[That evening, Aang woke up with his face in a book. There he was, in the library. Jinora had piqued his interest in books, so he was trying to read one. He didn't count on so many words, and maybe it was still some residual tiredness from the draft that caused him to sleep the day away there.

He quickly got a sense of how late it was, however, and he scooped up his journal without bothering to check it first. Once he was outside, he produced an air scooter and made his way back as quickly as possible, hoping he hadn't missed dinner.]

[When Aang comes home he'll find an extra member in the house. She's sitting on the couch, hunched over herself a little, and staring down at orange soda can in her hand. You know it was still weird. The soda here was different. The taste, the packaging, everything... but it had the same name. Sort of like the Avatar, wasn't it? A different personality, a different body, but still all the same responsibilities and abilities. Except, unlike most sodas - Avatars? - she was flat. She couldn't be like the others. She was defunct.

Tch, no. Avatars aren't like soda at all. What is she thinking?]

[Aang walks casually into the house and begins to peer around the living room for signs of his roommates... only to find a young woman on the couch. It definitely ain't Katara. Aang begins to feel an odd, but familiar sensation. He walks towards her.]

Oh. Hello?

[And then he makes eye contact. His eyes widen, and he almost feels like he's in a trance. He hadn't felt this way since the first time he saw Avatar Roku's statue.]

[She stares back, wide-eyed. He's... so much smaller than she imagined. In fact when Ikki said he was younger she didn't know what to think, but either way this is a shocker. So this is her... her past life. Her predecessor. Her... superior.]

Aang.

[He blinks back at hearing his name. Maybe it's from sharing the same spirit, maybe he's remembering how Ikki described her, or maybe it's both, but Aang has no difficulty realizing who this is.]

K-Korra?

Yeah, that's... that's me.[She sets her soda down on the coffee table.]

Nice to finally meet you. [Not that she's been waiting thirteen years for this, or anything.]

It's... it's nice to meet you, too, Korra. I've heard great things.

[He isn't sure how to act. This is.... this is different than anything else. This is his future incarnation. Is he supposed to do a handshake? A hug? Try to bump into her and then Roku so that they become a giant Super Avatar?

He decides to bow.]

[Great things... greatness... That only reminds her of the party Tarrlok threw for her. It twists a know in her stomach. But even so Korra stands so that she may bow back. Hers is not deep enough to be completely formal, but deep enough to show some respect.]

Yeah, well I bet I've heard more about you.

[He gives a nervous laugh.]

Well I do already have a completed story in your time. [His smile flickers slightly. Right. I'm dead.] But Ikki finds lots of more words to make up for it.

[She laughs back in the same manner.]

Yeah, she's got a mouth on her all right.

She does, but she's amazing. So, uh, I see you made it here okay. You met... the others yet?

Yeah, pretty much. The house is really full.

[savedtheworld]

Oh, that's great! I hope you're all getting along. [He nervously rubs his head.] It's kind of weird. People from your time just keep showing up lately.

[Later that night, Katara knocks on Aang's door.

Quietly, though. She doesn't want to wake the girls. Or Roku. Who is probably asleep. Aang might be too, actually, but she's going to hope not.]

[Aang was awake, staring up at the ceiling, everything he had learned swirling through his head. There were many details Ikki had said that were easy to miss. But became impossible to ignore once Korra (and the others?) spelled them out.

He heard a knocking and, as to not disturb Roku (a non-snoring night), he gracefully hopped down to the floor without making a noise. And he softly cracks the door open to peer through with a corner of his face, speaking with a harsh whisper.]

Hello?

[Katara jerks her head backwards and responds with another whisper.]

Can you come out?

[There's a faint sadness in his eyes as he sees her, but he quickly blinks it away. Aang looks back to Roku quickly to make sure he's asleep, then he nods and slips out the door wordlessly.]

[She holds her finger up to her lips as she moves back, making room for him. Sleeping grandchildren. Sleeping Avatars and Friends. Sleeping Sokka, in the living room...

She makes her way over to her open door and nods her head inside.]

[...What? Still, he quietly follows her into her room.]

[She shuts the door quietly behind her and keeps her voice low.]

Let's go through the window and talk outside.

[He replies in an equally low voice.]

Yeah, sure. [So many things to talk about. Most of them he's afraid to. He starts for the window.]

[She grabs a sweatshirt (for Aang) in case the night is cool and follows after him. Barefoot, actually, so they probably won't go far.]

[Aang doesn't pay much mind to the barefootness. There is still a bit of a chill. He walks several yards and turns to make sure Katara is following.]

[She's following, and she moves quickly to catch up.

But she doesn't know quite how to break this silence, so she'll let him lead for a bit.]
