"but thanksgiving is more than eating, chuck;"
Who: Residents of CH7 and anyone else who wants to come!
What: Thanksgiving!
When: Thursday, November 22!
Where: Dining area on the first floor of CH7!
Summary: Rapunzel has discovered a hodgepodge of what Thanksgiving is about, and so she has decided to throw a big dinner for anyone who wants to come!
Rating: T for Turkey
If they had Thanksgiving back in her world, Rapunzel had absolutely no knowledge about it, and even after spending over half a year in Luceti, she was still a little hazy on the details of various holidays. However, she loved an occasion to celebrate, and what she'd learned about Thanksgiving so far was certainly something worth celebrating: a day to share good food with friends new and old, and express your thanks for the wonderful things in your life? Sounds perfectly fantastic to her. So she decided to make the most of it.
She starts cooking in the kitchen on the first floor of CH7 nearly at the break of dawn, filling the building with enticing aromas throughout the day. If that's not enough to draw people out, she takes a moment between dishes to make a village-wide invite to the dinner on the journal. She even makes a sign to set in the window of the bakery, apologizing for the unscheduled closing and directing any interested parties to the nearby CH7 for promised good times and delicious food.
Of course, she would love to have anyone bring a dish if they so desire - there's only so much cooking one can do, even if they are a Disney princess! She'd love some help in the kitchen, too.
At the dinner itself, attendants can expect to find many of the traditional Thanksgiving dishes - turkey, mashed potatoes, vegetables, casseroles, stuffing, rolls, yams, et cetera. Of course, there are a few completely out-of-place dishes as well: popcorn, jelly beans, toast, pretzels. Where on earth could she have gotten the idea for food like that? It is a mystery. For dessert, there will be an impressive line up of pies of various flavors, pumpkin roll, pumpkin bread, cupcakes decorated as turkeys, cookies, and so forth.
So, come on in, meet some friends new and old, and most of all, be thankful!
[ooc: This log is open to anyone who wants to go to a Thanksgiving dinner but may not have a place to go! As mentioned, Rapunzel made an announcement on the journal earlier in the day inviting anyone who wants to to come, as well as set a sign up in the bakery directing people to CH7. This is basically a free-for-all mass log, so have fun, bring a dish, carve some turkey, do whatever!]

So much for staying home, reading, and directing the occasional sneer at the world for their silly little feast that he totally didn't want to go to anyway.
He doesn't bring a dish, not being much of a cook, but if pressed into service he can help out competently. Anyone that can do chemistry as well as Loki can cook just fine if they can be bothered and are given detailed directions.
Also, noticing the distressing lack of music he provides some in the form of a glowing ball of light that plays music. It's only things that he's familiar with, but it's decent enough background as long as you don't mind instrumental and classical. And after feasting is done - he mostly just picks at his food and watches everyone else eat - he might see if anyone is interested in dancing.]
no subject
Yes, he's had enough wine to be feeling awfully thankful - and he expresses that as the man responsible for their current sound system (glowing and otherworldly sound system, but he's not going to judge, it takes all sorts) passes by.]
Hey - nice music, thanks!

Unlike Peeta, she can't bake. She won't disgrace his memory by trying. But she's not a bad cook. And it had been surprisingly easy to catch a few squirrels this morning, harvest the necessary tubers and roots, and spend the day slow cooking a hearty stew.
Said stew has been placed on the table with the rest of the food and for the rest of the evening, she spends her time observing on the outskirts. Still trying. Still not really certain on interacting with Rapunzel's other guests.]

And he was a prince. He's well-practiced at the socializing game, and the bit that requires moving around a feast and greeting everyone. Really, this is less burdensome because it's a smaller feast than he's ever seen before. Which is fine.
He eventually circulates over to Katniss.]

[open to CR old and new!]
It's more or less inevitable that Jack spends the day in inglorious toil - hauling groceries from the store, peeling and chopping produce, and every other piece of unskilled labour Eugene and their charming royal friend can dream up. He's open to chattering while he works (almost inevitably decked out in bandanna and apron as per Eugene's Food Safety Matters lecture), and adopted holiday or no, he has every intent to stuff himself stupid at the meal afterwards.]
no subject
He does overhear Jack saying something at one point, probably reporting on the dishes to the tiny hairy girl in charge, and Spike can at least recognize the accent. Which, of course, he can't help but comment on.]
Oxbridge, right? [It carries with it the sort of accusatory 'look at the ponce' tone to it. His own accent is very much a crasser, lower class North London accent.

Wow. This game really seems intent on simulating the world outside the arcades.
Regardless, he shows up with Vanellope in tow, with a basket of sugary cookies for dessert. Ralph managed to bake them, and Vanellope took care of the frosting; but if anyone asks, he'll say the girl made them all herself. Afraid of breaking a chair, Ralph winds up bringing over a couch from the apartment and eats there - taking very large servings of all the food but very satisfying ones, too. Man. Even the food here's high definition.]

Spike likely had a prior engagement with Buffy and her pals for Turkey day. The holiday meant little to Spike, but hell, he did like the food. And a second Thanksgiving feast was nothing to turn his nose up at. So despite not bringing anything himself or dressing himself up in any way, Spike can be found perusing the available dishes. Just as long as he didn't eat too much. It was no good showing up elsewhere already full. At the same time, he didn't have a lot of faith that Buffy would be putting together a feast quite like this either. So. Eating a little couldn't hurt.

Hermes is up on the table fumbling with the serving utensils. He is somewhat more omnivorous than most of his species due to their unique environment, and sweet potatoes do break up the routine of flesh-of-lesser-creatures. His plate is piled high with turkey and vegetables already.
But spoons are proving difficult. "Serve potatoes," he says, poking at the nearest set of opposable thumbs.

Rapunzel was a little worried when she saw him arrive at the dinner, but she was willing to give him a second chance. He didn't have one of those death sticks this time, so maybe he wouldn't be so surly. A girl can hope, right?

There seemed to be some kind of food-related passcode going on, which will hopefully ward off possible humanwrath and knives. Hermes enters the kitchen rolling two cans of corn in front of him.
Yes, just corn. You don't expect him to cook, do you?
"Where is food? Eat now?" He does not see the large turkey promised to him by television.

Doing a double-take twice-over he stopped midway, food in hands and looking utterly baffled.
"...Please don't be offended, but it might be dangerous for you to be here given all the food around." Forgive him if he was wrong, but typically octopus was not a preferred delicacy at Thanksgiving. Though he never did know, things around Luceti were not the norm.
But for the moment he would give the benefit of the doubt.

He just moved into the building a few days ago and he had just received the open invitation for dinner like everyone else did. Seeing as it'd probably be polite to bring something to share with everyone he stopped by the bakery...and has essentially brought a dozen loaves of bread with him. Each one stacked on top of each other as he makes his way into the party.]
Ummm, excuse me? Anyone mind telling me where I can put these?

Including the popcorn and jelly beans.
He waddled almost drunkenly through the crowd, stomach visibly distended, fully-loaded plates in each hand. Clearly, Red was having a good time; he'd never heard of this Thanksgiving holiday before, but he was definitely thankful it existed. Hopefully they'd need to foist the leftovers off onto someone...
Until then, though, he busied himself with wandering the celebration, seeing who's who and what who's eating.

But.
He's Rin.
Inevitably, Rin ends up in the kitchen. In his need to be helpful, he's going to end up being a busy-body and helping to finish up some last minute adjustments to dishes, help with preparing new "as it comes" stuff, and generally just involve himself in the whole cooking process either until it's done or someone kicks him out.
After that though, he'll be sitting and eating (probably not as much as Shiemi) after doing some snacking in between there and generally trying to chat up people. Still, he probably stands out both for his tail and that he's never setting down the sword bundle on his back]

So soon after he arrives, Rapunzel will stop to properly greet and thank him.]

However, Zelos' attention wanders off to all this... hair. And it's... beautiful! It looks so soft, silky and smooth. He thought he had a lot of hair. With a biscuit in his mouth, he'll be walking around and trying to find the owner of all this beautiful hair.]
