EVENT LOG: SCAVENGER HUNT

Who: All you scavenger hunters!
What: Scavenging and other fantabulousness, I suppose.
When: November 24th to 28th
Where: The whole village! And yet also all over time and space...

As announced by CJ, the village's immediate environs are divided up according to this map. There are five areas: the Nile, Ice Age, Space Opera, Shogunate, and Gangland. Time-and-place appropriate architecture and conjured up NPCs exist in each area.

Don't forget the scavenger hunt! While actually finding things is ultimatly optional, you can find more information on the hunt here. If you want to claim a reward from the hunt, be sure to link at least two related threads on the new rewards claims post.

Finally, here's a quick rundown of the objects:
- In THE NILE: A ceremonial dagger and a piece of Pharoah's treasure
- In GANGLAND: A tommy gun and a set of car keys
- In ICE AGE: A bone spear and a smilodon's tooth
- In SPACE OPERA: a raygun and part of a robot
- In SHOGUNATE: a samurai sword and water from a kappa's head

Oh, nah, my superpower doesn't work like that! All it does is kinda... teleport me and whoever I'm holdin' onto, I guess! It's pretty handy for quick escapes!

Superpower, huh? Well, it worked out great just now. Thanks.

[Aaaaaand hand-holding-out.] I'm Sheena. [Also the pretty kimono has reappeared on her person, hiding the ninja clothes again.]

[sugarglitch]

No problem! [She holds out her own hand to shake Sheena's when the kimono regenerates. Vanellope gasps!]

Woah! How'd you do that!

[corrinesbell]

Uh, I don't really know. I think it's part of this experiment. This's what I'm supposed to wear here or something. [A shrug.] I like it a lot better than some of the other stuff I've ended up in.

[sugarglitch]

Really? I haven't been to the other places, but I only got one outfit when I came here! [She's... going to take a moment to pull the top of clothes open a little as if to check for something new under... nope, nothing.] That's weird!

[corrinesbell]

You'll probably get a different one if you switch, uh, areas. My house is a frozen cave and I woke up with a bunch of winter clothes.

So d'you have a name or are you just not gonna tell?

[sugarglitch]

Oh, right! Sorry 'bout that. The name's Vanellope! Vanellope von Schweetz! [She gives Sheena her best, biggest, sweetest grin... Playing nice because this lady's got something she wants.]

So, whatcha do to all those ninjaguys that made 'em chase after you so hard?

[corrinesbell]

[Sheena likes kids, and especially kids that seem to like her back right from the start. She grins, too.]

Pretty sure that beats 'Sheena'. Oh, uh, they were chasing after this stuff. [She fishes the kappa water (in a little bottle) from a secret pocket and holds it up.] I think, anyway. A lotta people can't figure out how to get the water but if you know the right stories, it's easy.

[sugarglitch]

[Vanellope's eyes visibly light up.]

That's the kappa water stuff isn't it! How'd you get it? Whaddya mean by stories?

[corrinesbell]

The stories about how to get water from a Kappa! Well, okay, they're not trying to get water in the real story, but it ends up working out that way if you've got a jar or something handy.

[sugarglitch]

A jar or something... [Wow sounds like a lot more work than she figured it would.]

Okay, you lost me there. How does it go again?

[corrinesbell]

It's a kids' story really - that there's a thing called a kappa that lives in rivers and will get you and pull you under if you go too far from the bank. They try to convince little kids to come for a swim.

[She is editing the story a bit for someone Vanellope's apparent age.]

There's an easy way to beat them though.

[sugarglitch]

Wow, that's pretty dark. [Blinking several times here, trying to imagine it!]

What's the easy way, though?

[corrinesbell]

They're so polite that they've gotta bow back when you bow to them. That knocks the water [a little shake of the bottle] out of the bowl on their heads and they get stuck that way.

[sugarglitch]

... Really? That's it? [She pauses just for a second before she bursts out giggling.]

Man, that must be really stupid-looking! I've gotta try that out! [She was totally going to swipe Sheena's bottle, but now she just wants to try getting the water herself!]

[corrinesbell]

[She would've learned a lesson about trying to steal from a ninja.

Especially when she could've just asked.]

I was just gonna give you this one, if you want it, but it's not like I can stop you from trying.

[sugarglitch]

[Okay, that derails her.]

Woah, really? You'd give that to me? How come?

[Strangers being genuinely nice to her...]

[corrinesbell]

Well, you got me outta trouble, and I can always get more if I can find another one of those guys, and I already have some extra...and why not? [A shrug.] You're trying to win, right?

[sugarglitch]

Oh. [Grinning up at Sheena!] Yeah! I'm gonna win this thing. So that'd be neat.

Why'd you get extra? Have too much fun with the kappas?

[corrinesbell]

So that if anybody showed up and tried to take my stuff, I'd have a backup. I dunno how many people know how to get that water, either. Maybe someone'd trade me for it.

[And she hands over the bottle, no fuss no hassle.] I think I'd rather help you win though.

[sugarglitch]

[Vanellope still can't believe that someone was being so nice to her and they barely knew each other.]

Um, thank you. [She shakes the bottle experimentally, then beams up at Sheena.] I guess you're all right. D'you need any help with the other stuff?

[corrinesbell]

I don't wanna go over to that 'space' place, but I bet there's a lotta people who would in exchange for some of the rest of the prizes, so it's no big deal. Thanks though, for offering.

[Sheena checks to make sure she still has all of her stuff with her...and breaks into a mischievous grin.]

So. Wanna find a kappa?

[sugarglitch]

[Grinning right back!!] Uh, yeah. What do they look like? Is it hard t'find one? They're not gonna try and pull me in and drown me right away are they?

[corrinesbell]

I found a couple in a pond thing, but I think if we can find a river instead that'll work out better. They'll try to trick you into it, you've just gotta be smarter than them.

[sugarglitch]

Okay, gotta be smart when talkin' to a kappa. Got it! Let's go, let's go!
