This post covers the first day, before the attack. Remember, characters here are not expecting an attack and are under the impression they will be going to Region 1 to fight. During this day, draftees will be restricted to T6 and T7 and not permitted access to other areas.

"That alone can sound like too much responsibility," he says with a slightly joking smirk. But really, it was more than they had, when all of them in the dome were ultimately under the Malnosso's control. "I assume that means you can't be persuaded to offer any positions in the organization."

Very magnanimous of you. [Her lips quirk faintly as she tucks her hands in her pockets and takes a step, then pauses, giving him a searching look.] You'll be careful. Right?

Of course they are. In a tight situation, they tend to be the most effective killers one could ask for. [He says with an eerie grin just before he pulls his own hand back, resting both within his pockets.]

I was actually named "Colonel" at birth. That's how I knew I was destined for a life of effective military service. [He says with a slight but vague air of sarcasm as his glasses gleam.] However, if you must have some name to call me by, you can use my codename: Jade Curtiss.

[And Jade showed off his own skill as capably as he could. He didn't go overboard himself, though. He could see that this Alexei truly did have a capable amount of power, and it would ultimately be a blow to their forces if Jade actually inflicted heavy damage on him. So he held back. And just as Alexei was preparing a new move, Jade stepped forward and raised his hand with a smile on his face and a gleam in his glasses.]

Now, now. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. How about a draw? No use exhausting these old bones so soon before battle.

C'mon, you've gotta tell me! You're the only one who can!

Jade, huh?

[There was a note of humor in his tone, and scratched his chin as he thought this over.]

...you know? I always wanted a codename, but the Mighty Hammer of Lazeria just seemed a bit much. 'Sides, Cliff is cool. Why change?

Because it's an exceptionally dull name. But I'm afraid that "Mighty Hammer" does not sound much better, beyond implying your physical prowess.

Am I? All I've spoken has just been my humble opinion.

Yeah, I know that. That's exactly why I'm not telling you!

[He stops when Jade suddenly raised his hand and told them to call it a draw. Are you serious?]

Old bones? Ha, are you sure it is not you who is actually struggling? [Alexei felt like this was such a cop out, but he knows that they still have a battle ahead of them and it would be stupid to continue. Reluctantly, he lowers his blade.] We shall pick this up at another time then, Colonel.

[For two reasons, Jade actually kept up with him. He honestly hasn't fought like that for quite some time, particularly someone who is familiar with artes and such. The other reason was because he really did not like leaving things unfinished.]

[ He doesn't bother with a halfhearted answer, instead nodding his head. Yes, he'd be careful. ]

[She opens the pack back up to take a look at the notes on the various items. Better to know what they do now than to wait until she needs to...]

Wow...! You really thought of everything, Professor Sage! Oh, but...I should probably be hoping that I won't have to use this stuff, huh?

[It's not as if she wants anyone to be hurt just so she can help them, though she knows the chance that no one will get hurt is ridiculously slim.]

[Loki chuckles.]

You do realize the bitter irony about this, right? The scientists performing science upon themselves?

"Understandably," said Konan. "I've only met one person who actually enjoyed being around explosions."

Her associate considered his explosions a form of art. While Konan didn't necessarily agree, she couldn't deny that Deidara had been very good at creating all sorts of bombs. He'd even gone out 'with a bang', so to speak, when he died.

[Well, that made things more difficult. Still, Shikamaru is clever and subtle. Konan has no doubt he'll be capable of handling himself in this fight - as long as the shift effects don't cause him too many problems.]

If you don't mind me asking, how much has your memory been affected?

The papers are meant to be used as non-verbal signals. Red is to signify that someone has been hurt and needs a medic. Orange is to signal that the area is dangerous. Blue is for when an area is safe - at least in the short term. The white papers are for message delivery.

[Assuming her powers aren't nullified. Although there are still ways - just not as quick or as tamper-proof as they would be with her powers.]

He's a smart guy. I'm guessing he's got an inkling about the closeness of us. [ purely platonic, but you'd never know it from how much she hedged. ] But there are a lot of stories that are just too weird to tell.

[Ha! Now that is something she would love to see.]

Glad to hear they learned something from our organisation and improved it then. Stark is a good man to work under, but we only lasted as long as the war.

[There had to be others, but if Natasha wasn't offering, she wouldn't pry. The names would mean little to her, after all, and if SHIELD is at all like the SSR, there were secrets that had to be kept.]

Crisply: "Do you regret it?"

Good. [She gave him a crooked smile and turned back towards the barracks again.] I'll see you at the party then, Stark.

In this place? I don't find that hard to believe at all.
