This post covers the first day, before the attack. Remember, characters here are not expecting an attack and are under the impression they will be going to Region 1 to fight. During this day, draftees will be restricted to T6 and T7 and not permitted access to other areas.

Loki shrugged. "I've had worse. I wasn't in the portal either." For a moment he wasn't so much looking at Buffy as through her. "Thigh for a brief time, I effectively was the portal."

In hindsight, he still didn't know quite why he had done that. No one had thanked him for it, and it had proven very unpleasant. Likely no one knew, or if they did he doubted they would care. He'd wanted to see Jane and Tony safely back. Him, of all people. He shouldn't have cared, but he'd wanted something salvaged after every other one of his hopes had been summarily destroyed.

Little good it had done.

Crisply: "Do you regret it?"

[complicatedliar]

"Regret which part?"

[herotypical]

"Every part. Getting involved."

[complicatedliar]

Loki fell silent for a long moment, mulling it over. He regretted the failure, of course, deeply. He regretted what had happened to him.

But he couldn't quite regret the process itself. It had felt good to have a project. And he'd found himself enjoying working with Jane and Tony at times.

Bizarre.

"No. Not every part."

[herotypical]

"That's something, I suppose. I've been told that regret's a fairly important thing not to have."

[complicatedliar]

"There are always regrets. I should think the more important question is if those regrets will be a source of paralysis." He smiled slightly. "Given the choice between sitting like a lump and moving forward, I'll always take the later. 'Tis more interesting at the very least."

[herotypical]

"Are those our only two choices? Lumpdom or forward? No love for the time-honoured side-step?"

[complicatedliar]

"Oh, that's one of my favorites. Really, I like movement of any sort, so long as it is away."

[herotypical]

"What about less away and more towards?"

[complicatedliar]

"I think it would depend upon what I was moving towards, yes?" He smiled sardonically.

[herotypical]

"I thought it didn't matter, but that actually moving was the point of it all?"

[complicatedliar]

"I don't think I should like to move toward an unfriendly man with a giant hammer, for example. Away is much safer in general."

[herotypical]

"...And that sounds like a man speaking from experience."

[complicatedliar]

[He laughs.] However did you guess?

[The fact that the hammer wielding jerk in question is in the village no doubt helps.]

[herotypical]

"I have good intuition. Though I'm surprised he hauls the hammer out for the sibling rivalry. That is a little on the intense side."

[complicatedliar]

"I wouldn't characterize it as such. He's not my brother, to begin with. He deposed me and chucked me into a black hole. I think enemy is the proper term, and as such the hammer makes sense," Loki said dryly.

[herotypical]

Ah, yes. That old chestnut.

"I'm not sure hammers ever make sense. Not really my weapon of choice, to be honest. Seeing a troll come at you with one really ruins the charm."

[complicatedliar]

"I don't think I've ever seen a troll use something that sophisticated. You must have a smarter grade in your realm."

[herotypical]

"In his sorta-defense, he wasn't always a troll..."

[complicatedliar]

"Oh dear. How did he manage that?" ...this promised to be a hilarious story.

[herotypical]

"He pissed off a...very interesting woman. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. And sometimes scorned women like to turn their faithless lovers into big hulking trolls."

[complicatedliar]

Loki laughed. "I like her style."

[herotypical]

"Her style...wasn't bad."

She and Anya hadn't always been friendly. But..."She meant a lot to the group. Scorned womanhood and all."

"I don't think I follow."
