Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[Ooh, projectiles of any kind are about to make a fun time better. Robin swerves to avoid the charge, just barely avoiding a collision with the nearest house in the process. It's tempting to make the scene more elaborate: Static would probably make the best faces if he thought Robin was dead! But he'll take the bullet and be responsible enough to fly up to meet Static at eye level instead. There's no curing his laughter, but at least he's not flat and bleeding.]

That was great! Do it again, but try to aim better next time okay?

[systemshock]

[Okay, that was so not what Static was expecting to see. He's left there dazed as Robin is suddenly just casually flying in front of him. Smiling.]

... uh, Robin? What are you doing?

[teenwonder]

[What's wrong with that? People have been telling to smile more for years now! There's no harm in giving them what they want!]

Flying. What does it look like?

[But then he bursts out in a chortle because Static that is the best face!]

[systemshock]

The flying I get. I mean, seems like... a lot of people just got an upgrade. But the laughing? I mean, that was practically a chortle and who even does that?

[Okay, the Robin he knew back home was kind of fun, but he'd learned fairly quickly this Robin was practically Batman-esque in his grimness.]

[teenwonder]

You probably shouldn't trust it. [Even though Robin doesn't sound at all bothered by his own engorged wings.] There's never been a documented case of people with full-sized wings staying sane. You'll probably have to stop us all from doing something later.

[But for now, he's just going to shake the top branches of the nearest tree. It'll be so funny when an apple falls loose and grazes one of the small-winged people minding his business on the ground!

Pff, the ground. Who even bothers with that anymore?]

[systemshock]

[ROBIN WHAT. Static just stares at him kind of horrified.]

Shouldn't you be kind of concerned about that?

[teenwonder]

Hm? Why?

You're a hero, right? You'll figure it out.

[He flits to Static's opposite side.]

But until then, you wanna get some lunch?

[systemshock]

... lunch sounds like a good idea. Just as long as it's on the ground.

[He is all about flying, but this flitting about on wings? It's not right.]

[teenwonder]

[...Oh. How lame.]

If we have to.

[systemshock]

I just don't think we'd be able to get a table up here with us, you know?

[This isn't Mary Poppins, okay. Though with the way Robin's acting...]

[teenwonder]

Maybe I could hover one with magic! I'm getting a lot better with manipulating the wind ever since my wings grew out.

[systemshock]

... good idea. You know what? Let's save that for dinner, when we get our floormates together. For now? Regular lunch.

[teenwonder]

I guess we can do that. [Sob. That's so mundane.]

What do you feel like having?

[systemshock]

Cheeseburgers. Nothing like the classics, right?

[teenwonder]

Can't argue there.

[And for food, he'll start lowering himself back to the ground.]

[systemshock]

You could, but then you'd be really crazy.

[As he follows Robin down, he momentarily contemplates capturing Robin now and then...

He realizes there's no 'then'. There's no prison that he knows of and he's snot stupid enough to think he can come up with any fool proof way of holding Batman Jr.]

[teenwonder]

[If only they'd had that conversation last week! When this is over, Robin's going to have to organize a field trip into the tunnels to show off the jail nobody remembers.]

Do you really think it's crazy, Static? It's probably thr experiment talking, but it doesn't feel like insanity. It's just... Light, you know? It's good to let go. Maybe you should just try playing more often!

[systemshock]

Hey, you were the one who told me anyone with big wings is gonna go crazy and now you want me to play around?

[These are some seriously mixed signals here, dude.]

[teenwonder]

Maybe I was just kidding earlier.

[Or maybe he wasn't.]

[systemshock]

[On the ground, Static folds up his flying disc and pockets it.]

... so you're saying there's nothing to worry about, right?

[teenwonder]

I'm saying you're the hero. Figure it out.

[systemshock]

Last I checked, you were too.

[teenwonder]

I think it's fairly obvious that I've been compromised. You probably shouldn't rely on my judgment.

[And he's totally okay with that. Though he keeps casting glances skyward because ugh what is all this being on the ground.]

[systemshock]

... at least you're honest about it.

[He heads into the restaurant, feeling dubious about all of this. Maybe he could magnetize Robin's wings. At least it would keep him grounded.]

This is a boring topic. [He announces it abruptly, suddenly over the very mention of it.Getting himself seated is much more interesting.]
