Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[Teddy crosses his arms, putting his guard up. The warning bells sound louder, and a feather on one of his wings grows another inch. Not that he notices, or really cares at this point.]

I'd like that. But what did you have in mind?

Saten pauses for a moment. ]

... I didn't really have anything. I still don't really know this place well. What do you want to do?

[If Teddy weren't in mid-possession, he'd have probably gone along with it, and thought, maybe, of flying. But with Nala keep a metaphorical hand on his shoulder, he tries to think of something that wouldn't lead to a Twila-possessed individual to take advantage of him.

He trusts Billy because Billy loves him despite the spirit. Saten, however, is another story.]

Did you want to eat somewhere?

[ She shakes her head. ]

I don't eat actually. Are you hungry?

Not really. Just thought I'd offer.

[He offers a smile, then looks off to the distance. Hmm.]

How about a walk instead?

Sure! Walks are really nice. You get to see a lot of things.

[ And maybe get someone off alone ~~in a dark alley~~ but Saten doesn't know that that has anything to do with why she's particularly excited for this walk. ]

Yeah, true.

[He starts to walk, leading the way. As long as he can lead, he's okay.]

Back before this all started, I always liked walking around here. It's not a huge enclosure, but you still sometimes find something new.

[ Lead away! She's alright with following for now. After all, if he tries to turn this around on her, Twila is reasonably confident that Saten can take care of herself just fine. ]

How long have you been here?

Mm. Close to a year?

[... Which is depressing. Thinking that he's been here longer than he's even been in the Young Avengers... Still, Nala's influence softens the blow.]

How about you?

Fifteen days. How long is a year?

[ She's learned about a week, but a year is still unfamiliar. ]

[That's how far back this supposedly younger self remembers, then...]

Three hundred and sixty-five days. Just a little longer than fifteen. [He says with something of a teasing grin. Yes, he's still completely on guard, but he can still joke and treat her like a sort-of-friend that he knew.]

[ But why would you ever need to keep your guard up around ~~little old~~ ~~little young~~ Saten? ]

That's a really long time! You must know a lot.

[Oh, that causes Teddy to chuckle.]

More like not enough. The place I come from is completely different from Luceti. I'm still not used to a lot of it.

What's different about it? I don't remember anything before this place so I can't compare at all.

Think tall buildings, a lot more noises, constantly busy, hundreds of people walking everywhere like they need to be somewhere... It always feels like I leapt into Doc's time machine and can't figure out how to get back.

[ Saten seems to lose herself in thought for a few moments, turning that over in her head. A few seconds later, she shakes her head and gives a small laugh. ]

I can't even imagine it. It sounds so strange.

Compared to his place, I guess it is pretty strange. But that's home.

[He pauses, then gives Saten a sidelong glance.]

So you don't remember anything? Not even your world?

I don't think so. [ She smiles back at him. ] I didn't even realize I had a world. I still can't say I do for sure.

I don't even know what would be different. Maybe there would be different people? Or more darkness.

[ After all, since she likes the darkness, maybe the world she can't remember has a lot more of it. ]

[Teddy glances skyward, thinking about what he just heard. If she can't remember anything, maybe she... manifested here? But no, that's not right. He's sure she had a world before all this.]

That sounds about right, from what I know about you. Different people... more darkness. [And light, an opposer. But with Saten the way she is now, he's not sure what kind of reaction that answer would evoke from her.]

[ At worst, Twila would use it to turn Saten further on Hyt, so it's probably best that it's not mentioned. Even if telling it to just Saten herself wouldn't really do much. ]

Really? What else do you know?

[ If Twila had any inkling of Saten past, it would be urging this on full-throttle, but right now it's just Saten's own curiosity that has her asking. ]

[He lets out a little chuckle at that.] Not much, actually. You're always really mysterious with me. Sorry I can't tell you more.

[Teddy says with a slight raise of his shoulders, a bit sheepish and apologetic. He does with he knew more; he likes Saten and finds her very interesting. Maybe once this is all over.]

Oh. I see. So why is there so much light in this place?

Some worlds have a lot of dark, some have a lot of light, I guess. This one seems pretty equal.

[And now that they've arrived in front of one of the community buildings, #1 to be precise, Teddy speeds up his walk to head towards it.]

Actually, this is my stop.

[ Don't let him leave.

Saten hesitates for a fraction of a second, but that's as far as her questioning of Twila's influence goes. She, too, picks up her pace in order to try to keep up with him. ]

Already? But we were still talking.

[You need to leave.

He turns toward her to smile, though he still keeps walking backward to the community housing building.]

And I really want to keep talking, but I've got something to do here... Maybe later?
