Possession Event

Who: People in Luceti
What: Spiritual possession
When: The 26th to the 1st
Where: Luceti!
Summary: Check out the previous mod post.
Rating: If it gets smutty, move it somewhere private.

Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

  • Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.
  • Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.
  • Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.
  • Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.
  • Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.
  • Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.
  • Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.
  • Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[The difference was plainly visible to Cliff's trained eye. Years of practice heavily ingrained a few skills and habits into his life to such an extent that he didn't even need to think about them. He just knew. A smile settled onto his lips, and he patted Fayt's shoulder.]

    Atta boy.

[He reached a hand out to the wing once more, assessing the length of it and his own reach. It helped him make a few conclusions.]

Now, don't panic. I need you to stay this relaxed. I'm just gonna guide to fully open, and we're going to work past anything that might be catching it while we pull it back inside.

Does that sound like a plan?

Who's panicking? [He frowns a bit. Uncomfortable, yes, panicking, no. He was a bit worried about getting gashed by the glass though, he'd admit.]

As long as we can get it out of there in one piece, I'll be fine. [He grimaces. He's read and heard enough about damage to the wings to know that wouldn't be pleasant in the least.]
aerialassault: (careful -- overdid it there)

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-05-31 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, we will alright. [He would make sure of it. The many warnings about how dangerous any kind of wing damage could be wasn't far from his thoughts as he gently tested the range and flexibility of the joints

After a few momenets, Cliff smiled a bit.]

Heh. I think I've got it. Just trust me.

[Using one hand as a base, he guided Fayt upward and into a slightly better position while he used the other to manually extend the joints with the skills of a man who enforced precision in every project that he worked on. From the tips of the wing on down, he folded it just enough to pull into the window...

    And let go.

    Have fun.]

[The reaction when the wing is finally brought through the window is almost automatic, the feathers ruffling as the wings flaps twice before tucking themselves close against Fayt's back, much akin to how someone would clutch their arm after it got trapped somewhere uncomfortable. Relaxed he might be, but he doesn't want to get it snagged on something again.

Fayt glances back curiously only a moment later, carefully extending the wing after a few moments focus. There are a few bent feathers and the wing itself does ache a little on personal inspection, but luckily it feels like there aren't any wounds.

More than that, though, it was-]
    This is so weird....

[He reaches out to touch the feathers, marveling slightly. This was definitely more than before.]
aerialassault: (confident -- you gotta deal)

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-06-02 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
    No doubt about that.

[Cliff was relieved that there was no lasting damage to the wing. A few bent up feathers had nothing when compared to strained joints and the inherent delicacy of the limbs. But the change in color, and the changes he had already witnessed around the village, unsettled him.

He ran a hand through his hair.]

...Looks like we're gonna need to work on this too.

[Considering something this size was doubtlessly going to affect his movement, Cliff was probably right. He runs his fingers through the feathers, smoothing them out and wondering at the feeling of the weight of the wings.

It was definitely going to affect his movement, and as cool as it looked, it was more then a little questionable and unsettling.]
Seems like people aren't having too many problems adjusting from what I saw yesterday, so here's hoping it won't be too difficult to move around.

[He pauses for a moment, before shrugging with a bit of a grin meant to make light of the situation, the wings rising a bit with the movement. Better to roll with the punches here, considering the delicacy of the limbs in question. Either they'd go away on their own, or something else would happen.] It's going to make getting dressed a chore, though.

[He only hoped he'd be able to get through the bedroom door.]

    aerialassault: (thinking -- hmm)

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-06-03 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rolling with the punches was always the best policy, considering all of the madness they faced back home and in this village. In Cliff's opinion, bigger wings were fairly mild compared to some of the things he suspected the Malnosso-- and the world itself-- were capable of.]

You'll probably be able to figure it once you get some more space. These rooms are kinda cramped. [Says the man whose so tall that he's more comfortable in a full sized bed, and the man who shoved said sized bed in his bedroom.]

    But shirts? Uh... scissors?
    etherealblast: (Standby Healing)

    [personal profile] etherealblast 2013-06-04 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Can I ever get these through the door? [Fayt was viewing it mostly as something of a really cool looking annoyance, given the size of these things. At the very least they weren't physically painful to wake up to... well, besides the obvious accident. He would have expected something like this to hurt somehow.]

And for wings this big? We might as well just cut out the back of the entire shirt. [Maybe a tank top will work better...]

aerialassault: (thinking -- gimme a sec)

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-06-05 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Hold 'em tight and duck, like you're carrying something kinda tall.

[It was his gut responce on this, one that was overlaid with some experience. Being as tall as he is, some of the architecture on other worlds weren't made with a guy like him in mind. He needed to constantly remind himself about doorframes on those trips, unless he wanted a nasty headache later on.]

...man, I wonder how those guy who always have wings this big do it.
    etherealblast: (Blueberries)

    [personal profile] etherealblast 2013-06-05 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
Guess I'll try it. [...Well, Cliff would probably know wouldn't he? Fayt stands again, decidedly not stretching this time, but also pleased to see the wings cooperate with the movement and stay tucked against his back.]

I wouldn't know. Scientifically speaking these things shouldn't even be functional.
    aerialassault: (uncool -- i don't care)

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-06-06 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Well, scientifically speaking, we shouldn't even be here. [It was a moot argument, but to the point.] Let's just not think too hard on it for now.
    etherealblast: (pic#5693109)

    [personal profile] etherealblast 2013-06-07 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
[He shrugs at Cliff's comment. It was true, after all.]

I wonder if I can fly with these...
aerialassault: (confident -- you gotta deal)

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-06-07 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well, the people outside were. It didn't look like they had too hard a time figuring out how to do it either. [He grinned.] That'll be something we figure out too.
    etherealblast: (pic#5245280)

    [personal profile] etherealblast 2013-06-07 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Gotta admit, it does sound like a nice perk for all of this. [As creepy as it was to have his body altered in his sleep, the idea of flying was pretty appealing.]
aerialassault: (attention -- i hear ya)

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-06-07 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
A little too nice in some ways. You think there might be a catch?
    etherealblast: (Blueberries)

    [personal profile] etherealblast 2013-06-08 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
That's my guess. [He didn't know what exactly, but that was more than likely the case.] We'll find out soon enough.

aerialassault: manga image (irritable -- no time to joke)

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-06-08 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
    [Cliff sighed.]

Aah. Let's just get you outside and worry about it later. We should also get breakfast-- oh, and get you in the air.
    etherealblast: (Default)

    [personal profile] etherealblast 2013-06-09 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
I need to get dressed first. [Breakfast sounded good, but first he needed to figure out the whole problem of shirts.]
aerialassault: (thinking -- gimme a sec)

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-06-10 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
    [Considering Fayt's wardrobe...]

That'll be fun. What sort of things do you have in the closet. You, uh, haven't found that autograph yet, have you?
    etherealblast: (pic#4992992)

    [personal profile] etherealblast 2013-06-12 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
    [That--

Remembering Pepitta's 'first ever autograph', he has to grin a little as he shakes his head.]
No, I haven't. Pepitta's gonna be pretty disappointed in me.
