Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

Somehow Asch and Jack have managed to dodge each other (unintentionally or otherwise) on their bar shifts, but today is the day that luck runs out. As soon as Asch enters the bar and spots the man, he beelines for the counter and glowers at his co-worker. He hasn't forgiven him for the incident with Clem, even with his own connection with Nala inwardly trying to ease his frustrations.

"You. What the hell were you doing, telling that little girl that I needed to screw a cow!?"

Jack was in the middle of cleaning a glass when he was interrupted. Calmly he put the glass away and faced Asch with that looked like regret.

"Talked to you, did she? Well, rest assured, that was not my intention. I wouldn't hook you up with a cow, champ."

[dissonates]

That... actually slightly mollifies Asch, though he's genuinely surprised to discover this. He appears puzzled for a moment, then shrugs it off. "What were you trying to do, then? How did it even involve a cow?"

He shook his head and looked genuinely remorseful as he admitted the following. "I'll admit it. You looked down, so I tried to find you a lady friend. I didn't do it the most tactful way, I'll admit it. Little Clemmy misconstrued a few things and took it in her own hands."

This is a side of Jack he's never witnessed before. It's surreal, actually, but also something of a relief. Asch finally relaxes enough to sit down at the bar, brows furrowed. "That's... generous of you, I guess. But it wasn't necessary. I'm fine on my own."

Jack rested his hands on the counter, momentarily fighting off he urge to touch a hand on Asch's as his sense of self preservation cried out 'no homo!' But Jack nodded in understanding.

"Are you, though? I've been around a long time, Asch. The worst parts of it were when I was alone. It's not good for you."

Asch looks uncomfortable at that, and while normally he'd conceal it, betweel Jack's unusually calming presence and Nala's voice in his mind, he doesn't feel the need.

"I have a roommate." Who's current AU'd so she doesn't remember him the same way. "And Luke's come back from our world again." But he doesn't know everything yet.

But he's fine, really.

"But are they there for you? When it really matters?" Sure, Jack knew nothing about these people. But it didn't really seem to Jack like that was enough.

How does one get more there than Luke, who shares his headspace half the time? Or rather, he used to. Right now it's just whenever Asch allows it, or when he needs to. And Arietta... she has her own problems.

"...Whether they are or not, what makes you think that anyone you try recruiting as my 'lady friend' would be any better?"

"Whenever I'm depressed or feeling alone, sex usually perks me right up. I figured it would do the same for you."

He realized now that perhaps it was a little naive. Real healing took time and dedication. The kind that didn't come from a simple roll in the hay.

"That isn't how it works for everyone. Not that I'm saying that I'm depressed, I just-" Ugh, he doesn't know how to convey this at all. "...There's just... no guarantee that people would want to be involved with me."

"Don't say that, bud. You aren't half as hideous as you probably think you are. In fact, I didn't hear one woman say anything disparaging about your appearance."

Snort. "It's less my appearance and more my personality, if it wasn't obvious already."

He knows he's decent enough to look at, he doesn't hate himself that much. But everyone likes his replica so much more, and he can recognize the reasons.

"Ah, personality. You're not always pleasant, but trust me, other guys have scored with less to work with. I mean, hell, the sheriff back at Fabletown managed to score the hottest babe to be found. And he was the Big Bad Wolf."

In a world where the Big Bad Wolf was humanized and an expy of Wolverine.

The context is lost on him, so Asch just lifts a brow at that. O...kay, so unusual men score attractive women. He's still not sure that would ever do him any good, though.

"Relationships, romantic or otherwise, have only ever complicated my life. I don't think I need more complications."

"But the sex, Asch. Think of the sex."

Relationships were complicated. But sex.

"Sex isn't everything."

He might be talking to the wrong person for that one, though.

Because honestly, that made absolutely no sense.

He's flustered now, and that's just what he'd been hoping to avoid. Why is everyone so obsessed with sex!?

Jack shook his head.

"You poor man. You need laid. Maybe I should find you someone experienced for you..."

"I'm telling you, I don't need sex!!" God, why is his sex life so important to this man? It's worse than having Guy trying to set him up with someone.

"You say that, buddy, but you're just making yourself miss out. I'd be a terrible friend to let you do that to yourself."

"You can't make me sleep with someone." He figures Jack is kind of skeevy, but he's not that bad.

"I wouldn't do that. Seriously, that would be sick. I mean, how would I even-" Jack shuddered at the thought. "I need a drink now."

"...Tch. Well at least you have some morals." Asch shrugs, though, and for the moment the issue seems to have been forgiven. He wasn't coercing anyone, just... offering women the chance. Not a great chance, granted, but it was theirs for the taking.
