Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

Yeah, yeah, quit worrying already! [But Crow's smiling rather than being annoyed by the concern as, with an extra flap of his own wings, he hovers up about another foot above Firo.] Come on, you can totally fly higher than that, right?

Sure, I can.

[He's feeling oddly competitive today, and Crow's prompting is just the encouragement he needs to discard caution. A bit clumsily, he flaps his wings until he's higher than Crow, but only by a few inches. In the back of his mind, the saner part of him mutters something about the story of Icarus; Firo brushes off that thought.]

How long have you been at this?

[tomodachi]

[Wow you're so cool Firo......where the hell did that thought come from. He flaps his wings up a little higher until he's at the same level as Firo.]

Been trying this flying thing for a while now. I think I'm starting to get the hang of it! [Such a shame that this probably isn't a permanent thing...]

[foundafamily]

Yeah? I guess there really isn't that much to it.

[The statement comes out with more bravado than he meant it to, and he looks startled after he hears himself. He's nervous about flying; it makes sense to try and avoid letting that on, but why go so far as to pretend he has it all under control?

He shakes his head, mumbling to himself quietly to shut up, that it doesn't matter either way. Then he turns back to Crow, curious.]

What else can you do besides hang around in the sky?

[tomodachi]

Uh...oh, I can do this!

[Crow then proceeds to flap his wings a little harder to create a slight gust of wind, strong enough to ruffle Firo's clothes and even push him back a little from the other.]

Cool, right?

[foundafamily]

[Firo's blinks as he's blown back. He recovers and flies closer to Crow.]

How'd you do that? That's amazing!

[tomodachi]

[Wow Firo are you actually praising us for something.]

Heh, thanks! I only just recently figured it out, but apparently I can use these wings to do stuff like that! Cool, right? [Look at him he's so proud.]

[foundafamily]

[Firo still has no idea why Crow's acting so funny, but he finds that he actually likes him this way.]

Really? What else can you do?

[As he waits for the answer he flaps extra hard with his wings to imitate Crow, trying not to look too disappointed when nothing comes of it.

[tomodachi]

[He's not acting that funny--you're getting the chance to see more of the side that's usually reserved mostly for Seto, that's all.]

Let's see... [He looks around a little before he spots some trees nearby, so with some flapping of his wings, he tries to send a flurry of leaves flying and spinning through the air now too.]

[foundafamily]

[Firo watches, eyes wide as he gives Crow his full attention. When the demonstration's over, he claps without a hint of the mockery he might have had if this were a normal interaction between them.]

That's really neat. Guess that's one upside to all this weird stuff.

[He's not going to mention that he has no idea what sort of special stuff he can do now.]

[tomodachi]

[That's okay because Crow will ask for you.]

What about you? Got anything cool that you can do too?

[foundafamily]

[There's that weird grumpiness rising up again, and Firo scowls before he realizes he has no reason to be mad at Crow; all the kid did was ask an innocent question. He bites his tongue to keep any unpleasant words down--why does he feel so much like yelling today?--and shakes his head.]

...I'm not sure yet. Maybe it's only a few people; who knows? I wouldn't know what to try anyway.

[...His "fiery" temperament and red wings should be something of a clue to him.]

[tomodachi]

[Well...] You already tried moving the wings, right? Maybe you could try waving your hands or something to see if that does anything.

[foundafamily]

[He blinks; he thought that Crow would have taken the opening and teased him for that. But instead he's giving pretty good advice. Firo nods.]

...Yeah. Lemme try. ...Thanks.

[He waves one hand, first cautiusly, then more quickly when nothing happens. On the second try, a small trail of flame shoots out of his hand, though thankfully it flickers out before it can singe Crow.

Firo's jaw drops and he stares at his palm.]

...Wow!

[tomodachi]

Heh, thought so! [Now Crow is a little more smug, proud that he knew that was going to happen--he thought he saw someone doing something like that earlier, so...]

Come on, try to do it again!

[foundafamily]

All right, stand back!

[He flutters backwards and turns to the side so he's not aiming at Crow. This time, he really concentrates and when he waves his hand around he's rewarded with a flame shooting out that's almost as long as he is tall.]

This is amazing!

[tomodachi]

[whoaaaaa]

Yeah, that was cool! [he's actually a little jealous that he hasn't been able to produce any flames himself, but dude that was so cool to watch!!]

[foundafamily]

Thanks!

[He grins and, in his excitement, drops down about a foot as he forgets to keep flapping his wings. Oops.

With a slight blush and a quiet curse he catches himself and gets back to his previous height.]

...I guess this isn't all that bad, really, compared to what happens here sometimes.

[tomodachi]

[He laughs when Firo drops a foot, but at his next comment he almost forgets about teasing any further for now.]

Yeah--this is way more fun than anything else they've done. [He's going to be crushed when he finds out the wings are not permanent.]

[foundafamily]

[Firo relaxes when Crow doesn't follow up the laughter with any mocking. He could really get used to this.]

Definitely.

There's gotta be some sort of motive for it somehow... But I don't know what. Maybe they're just tryin' to keep us happy so we don't cause any trouble?

[Way to rain on the parade, Firo.]

[tomodachi]

[Way to rain on the parade, Firo.]

Come on, don't waste time worrying about stuff like that--we should take advantage and just have fun with it!

[foundafamily]

[He laughs.]

Maybe you're right. There's nothin' we can do about it, anyway.

You wanna try flyin' somewhere?

[Now that he's getting used to it, he feels somewhat calmer just hanging in the sky and chatting. There's less up here to poke at him and frustrate him.]

[tomodachi]

[Now that's more like it!]

Yeah! Let's try...oh, let's go that way! [He points in the indicated direction, and even starts to go that way--you can keep up with him right Firo?]

[foundafamily]

[He follows Crow, lagging behind a bit.]

H-hey, don't go too fast! You might get hurt!

[Or Firo might fall behind; he's not as confident on his wings as Crow seems to be.]

[tomodachi]

[Crow doesn't stop flying, but he does slow down just a little, enough that he's not going to be too far away and can be heard replying back over the wind.]

It's okay! I'm not planning on letting that happen! [But thanks for the concern, Firo.]
