What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

Honestly, from what I can tell, my world is a relatively watered down version of other people's version of Earth. Not much that goes on other than day to day life.

[She's seen some strange things in her life, and even more since she arrived in Luceti. This is just another. And the creature's attempt at conversation is kind of cute.]

And Hinata might feel a slight weight on her head as Mini-Totoro suddenly pops into being right there. It leans forward and looks right into her eyes.

[And then there was Eugene who was as close to an honorary British guy as he could get without actually being born there, or doing anything other than writing about their pop-up culinary scene. Not many people were from Canada and in a way he didn't want to think of Canada as home after the grey plague earned him a new one. He had, however, contributed the scones and the Faerie Cakes, under the genuine tutelage of the real deals sitting next to him. His own space he was content to leave a mystery for now, but next year he was definitely making poutine. Though he was a bit busy looking through the recipe book and thumbing through to make sure that the final draft did not, in fact, have typos.]

Maybe we really should have consulted Maxine twice about these mushroom references? I'm still just not quite sure about... a few, or maybe one.

[Eventually he would wander to check out the other booths, but for now he was content to sit here and watch]

[To say she is surprised is an understatement. If the creature had been a shinobi, she would think it was a kind of ninjutsu or genjutsu. She activates her Byakugan but cannot see through it.

So, this creature must be some sort of magic.

It's cuter this way, but she just stares back at it before her cheeks flush again.]

A-ano...do you...do you speak human? [Because it's obvious that it understands her just fine.]

[The not quite apology she'd given Saori and the goddess' frustration rings in her mind a moment- and it's true. She'd spoken to no one of her leaving. Of the house she wanted built. And she really, truly ought to have done so. Blaming a lifetime of bad habits on their continuation doesn't quite hold true in front of someone she's come to care for as her own family. Her shoulders slump a bit, but she is in the wrong and knows it.]

Not quite finished with gathering materials for it just yet, actually. I've fallen behind due to the shift from last week.

[Asami was just coming around a corner near the Avatar booth when she nearly walked right into the other woman, taking a quick step back ins surprise and nearly spilling the tray of food she was on her way to delivery, sending a few buns scattering along the tray and having to blanace to keep from losing them.]

Oh, excuse me, I didn't see you-

[She cut off when she noticed the girls eyes. Wait, was she blind?]

It-it was completely my fault, of course. I'm sorry. Are you alright?

[Hinata blinked at the other woman before her cheeks flushed and she tipped her head in a slight acknowledgement.]

Y-yes, I am fine. It is my fault for not paying attention to where I was standing. I apologize.

There was. They are no longer here, it has been some time since they left. [Her smile doesn't fade, but there is a hint of sadness to her eyes thinking about it. Even without the effects of the experiments she was genuinely fond of them.]

That's something I have only had here though, I didn't know what that felt like back in my world. I wonder what your people think of you?

She pours a small cup of tea for herself, and takes a sip, falling quiet for a few moments herself.

"How have you been doing, otherwise?"

Let's see... for the basic classes themselves, there is a large difference in the levels that students are familiar with, given the various worlds they come from. For those classes we have a lesson for the entire group for the first part of the class, then we move onto individual studies to either try and give more advanced students a challenge, and opportunities for those a little further behind to catch up.

[That's a mouthful on it's own, but he had asked several questions. He probably would have a few more once she finished:]

The other classes are optional and open to anyone - like art, music, magic, and of course, world sharing. The World Sharing class in particular is where the inspiration for this fair came from. Those who participate in the class are encouraged to talk about their own, or ask questions about other worlds, and so forth. Personally I think we all have a lot that we can learn from one another.

[He had definitely appreciated Eugene's help in making the cakes, even if some of the ingredients had earnt him raised eyebrows and okay, yeah, some of the ingredients just plain hadn't existed. He'd had to improvise. Who knew that Luceti wouldn't have unfettered access to food from Faerie?

He's been off to get some drinks and returns, setting down a cup of tea next to Eugene and peers over his shoulder.]

That one looks a little like a galley-trap mushroom. They grow in rings and if you walk into the rings on the wrong night you get stuck there. Nasty things. Make you dance until you bleed.

Zatanna definitely made sure to catch one of the demonstrations. She’d talked to Suki about watching the girl fight, and she didn’t realize Asami was so good at it. Or that they knew each other, which had Zatanna very purposefully keeping a certain song about small worlds out of her head as she approached them between shows.

“Hey! That was really good.” It had left Zatanna impressed for sure; either girl could give Artemis or even Robin a run for their money.

[So, this? Definitely impressive. Zatanna’s had a demonstration of water bending before, but seeing fire manipulated like that is pretty new for her. Even a really skilled magician would be hard pressed to have this level of control, and what she’s seeing isn’t magic. So that level of precision with an element that’s unstable and wild definitely gets her attention.

What’s more, she recognizes the guy responsible, although it’s a little hard to believe it’s the same person. So when Zuko takes a break, Zatanna heads over. “Gotta say, that was a lot smoother than the first time I saw you.”

[The figures and colors are a pretty good hint that she’s come to the right place; unlike most of the other booths Zatanna can feel the mystical forces in play when she gets close enough. It brings a smile to her face, because for all of the spiritual possession and elemental control, Zatanna’s encountered little actual magic in Luceti. Of all the booths this is the one she’s specifically come to see, and it doesn’t disappoint.]

Wow. Sorcery and free food? I’m really having a hard time seeing why the magic club hasn’t taken off. [Zatanna grins to the man behind the counter as she steals one of the pastries; she’s there, so why not try it?]

[It’s an interesting twist on the British booth, and definitely catches Zatanna’s attention—the puzzles, not the beard. The latter does get a grin, however.] So…fake beards. Is that some English tradition I’ve never heard of before?

Oh, now this Zatanna definitely had to stop for. The shell game was one of the oldest tricks in the book, and one of the first her father had taught her. Equal parts nostalgia and curiosity have her dropping by, although she’d pretend to go along with it—at least at first.

“So what’s this booth for?”

[handing]

[Pepper has come to the fair more out of curiosity than anything else, and she’s a little surprised to see a pair of booths representing her own world. While Loki’s is…Loki, Steve has put together a piece of Americana, and she smiles as she watches him demonstrate the basics of baseball. Once he’s done, she’ll make sure to catch his attention.]

Hey, Steve. You’re looking well. [Which is a good thing; better that no one have to endure an effect from the Malnosso for too long.] I didn’t realize you were setting up a booth for this.

There was at least one person in Luceti who hadn’t seen his attempt at the shell game before—but unfortunately for Jack, Pepper also knew him well enough to not make any bets. Still, it made her laugh when she came across it.

“Is this is a pretty fair representation of your culture?” Pepper favored him with a teasing grin, even as she looked over the shells.

[He laughs a bit, but in a friendly manner.]

Yeah, kind of.

I understand, though. There's a girl I like back at home. I... don't really know where our relationship stands right now, but I think about her. Don't know if I'd feel right wishing she was here, but I know I will at some point.

"Otters aren't cunning enough. Not NEARLY."

His hands, and the shells, flew. Almost careless. Why did he have to take care? The cross was safely in his pocket.

Very well! Once upon a time, there were a beautiful silver-haired woman who wouldn't deign to sit beside a stinky box and give a man her valuable possessions to place under his shells....

"Don't say that too loud. You wouldn't want the otters to hear you."

"Oooh! That's a nice shiny! Where'd you get it?" He affably lifted a shell for her to place it beneath.

"This is what happens when lightening strikes sand during a storm, Jack. I may have had an enthusiastic argument with someone last week." One that involved thrown lightening. It all ended well enough.

She set the bit of glass under the shell.
