The Cultural Fair!

What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!
Where: All around the town square!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

Buffy smiled. The promise was a good one; she already looked forward to it. Some summer day, perhaps. After leaping from the JJ's deck, they could just float for a while. Her mind was still in this far-off fantasy when she opened her eyes and opened her mouth.

"You're just moving some shells around. I bet an otter could do it just as well."

[all7seas]

"Otters aren't cunning enough. Not NEARLY."

His hands, and the shells, flew. Almost careless. Why did he have to take care? The cross was safely in his pocket.

"Don't say that too loud. You wouldn't want the otters to hear you."

[all7seas]

"Oh, they can't hear much. Tiny ears. Always water-logged," he assured her as he stopped the shells. There they lay, three identical white clam shells.

"Right. Annie? You must stop thinking so single-mindedly of otters and guess, now."

Buffy Summers, normally so rigid and straight, too this opportunity to lean forward -- planting her palms on his box corners. Leaning her upper-body over his game.

"How many guesses do I get?" She asked, sparing not a single glance for the shells.

"How many do you want?" He leaned in to take the opportunity to try to snog her full on the mouth. Cheeky marauder.

She didn't evade the kiss; she joined it, gladly. She didn't care that there were others around or that it wasn't the place or time or anything. Sometimes, simply put, being inappropriate was the only appropriate thing to do.

"Depends. How many does a kiss get me? Because I want that many, plus one."

"We could just sneak away from all this culture. There's a rather comfortable-looking haystack just the other side of the lilac meadow..."

[herotypical]

"And lose my second-best cross to some other fair-attendee? Someone who just walks by and flips the lucky shell and makes off with my bling? Nuh-uh."

She must have known as well as him that her necklace was under no shell. Must have.

And Jack Sparrow, of course, would take all of that hot haystack loving over his mockery of the cultural fair any day.

"I'll find you another! Golden, encrusted with jewels! Just like that king what's-his-name had!"

[herotypical]

"Cole? Crab? Or maybe you mean the King of Burgers..."

[all7seas]

[herotypical]

"Remove your coat..."

[all7seas]

"No. Why? Why remove my coat?!"

[herotypical]

"Because I don't have the patience to wait for the haystack."

Lies. She was gonna do a runner with that coat, and she held out an expectant hand.

"You want to have your way with me here? Right here?! Annie! This is culture!"

omg this tag nearly had a terrible autocorrect incident. i never would have lived it down

"Strip! I don't have all day..."

Mostly, she was shocked that this might actually work...so here she was, waiting for his pennies to drop.

"Right."

And he began undoing his trousers.

[herotypical]

"...Start with the coat," she warned -- before this went too far and she felt like a villain. All for doing what he'd tried to teach her how to do, eons ago.

[all7seas]

"But I thought you were in a rush, darling!" came the innocent reply as Jack continued unbuckling.

[herotypical]

"I'm in a rush for you to start with the coat," she countered -- a little lamely. At least, until: "Just pretend it's my birthday again and that song is playing..."

Jack started humming.

Oh. Yes. The SONG.

"I must've died and gone to heaven," he began crooning, leaving off the pants-undoing and throwing in a few hip gyrations.

[herotypical]

And here stood the paragon of non-romance, with her arms crossed and her head cocked and her gaze hooked expectantly on his outerwear -- half-undone trousers be damned.

"Heaven doesn't have strip clubs," she said. "At least, none that I remember."

[all7seas]

"'Cause it were quarter past eleven on a Saturday in 1999," he continued to croon. First one hip, then the other, switched upward. The trousers began to ride lower on those hips as a sly smile more than took over Jack's face.

It was fun to torment her sometimes. All done out of love, of course.

Oh, piffle. He was calling her bluff -- and being rather theatrical about it, too. Buffy gently nudged aside the old crate, hearing the shells rattle. And with that, there were no obstacles between her and the pirate.

"I'll give you until the count of...hmm, six," she threatened -- but remained tight-lipped as to the nature of what was exactly being threatened.
