What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

[ BEHOLD THE MENAGERIE OF HOUSE 56: Momo the flying lemur, Appa the sky bison, Foofoo Cuddlypoops the saber-tooth moose lion cub, Naga the polar bear dog, and Pabu the fire ferret. Also marvel at Soren the Swellow and Prince Petunia the (pink plastic bucket-confined) starfish. These animals will mostly be behaving in their normal manners; Pabu and Momo will hang out on various shoulders or perches, Appa is enlisted to give rides to anyone who asks/ferry people to the airgates, and Soren is tailing Ikki while Naga tails Korra. Petunia is pretty much doing nothing, since he's a normal starfish in a bucket. SORRY.

In addition to these living, breathing examples of their world, Korra and Aang have earthbended some examples of other ones found at home, and Katara has a few ice sculpture ones made. Yes, their booth is pretty awesome.

Go ahead, marvel at the cute animals. You know you want to. One or more of the cast will be with you shortly. ]

Ikki looks like she's pouting at the slight to dear Prince Petunia, however. ]

He does lots! He eats stuff sometimes. And clings to things!!

[ ...okay so he doesn't do much... ]

[ hmm. ] I thought Jack said it was a she when he -- you know what? Jack's never been very reliable in these departments. Never mind I said anything.

[ Buffy's being treated to a truly stunned and slightly offended look - but then again, she also had never heard that the starfish was female before. It had, in fact, just been presented as "Ikki this is a starfish I got, it needs a name. Think you can help out?" and had thusly become Prince Enrique Tenzin Ulberto Naoi Indigo Aang.

If she'd heard about the starfish being a girl (?!) it would have been a Princess. ]

How would he know? I know what they eat, but how do you tell that? Petunia just feels like a boy starfish. He's a Prince, after all!

[He's not so sure about 'cute', but he's definitely interested. The predatory ones (and the giant, multiple legged bison) take up most of his attention, although once he finds the starfish, he will kneel down and watch it for a little while.]

[ Petunia the starfish sure is getting a lot of attention today! ...In typical completely ordinary starfish manner, he doesn't react to the attention, instead continuing to cling obliviously to the side of the bucket. The world seen through the view of a starfish was not a very wide one, and it was unclear as to whether or not the creature even realized he was out of his tank.

Ikki, however, is more than capable of reacting to the attention given to Petuina, and she'll go over as well, bouncing. ]

Isn't he cool? I was just about to feed him if you wanted to see.

[He'll glance up and give the kid a smile and a nod.]

Sure. Is he a slow eater, though?

[It can take some starfish several hours to eat their meal, after all. Derek might need to go get more of Loki's mead for that kind of patience.]

...Well, a bit. You can see him suck stuff up quick sometimes if he's pretty hungry, but it normally takes him a pretty long time.

[ She has to admit this to be true. It's enough to keep a seven year old occupied, sometimes, but Petunia honestly doesn't do all that much, for all that he is a vicious predator of the seas.

This is probably because he is only a vicious predator of the seas in her daydreams, although Ikki does go behind the table to pull out a little tin that contains the food she gives to Petunia. He's a carnivorous type of starfish, so this is stuff she wouldn't personally eat. ]

But it's still really cool! Until I came here, I'd never seen a starfish before.

[Fuuko takes her time looking at all the weird and wonderful animals that are out today. Appa and Naga particularly catch her eye, but it's hard for a giant dog and... Many legged fluffy thing not to, really.

Once she realises Prince Petunia is here though her attention soon shifts to staring at the little guy in the bottom of the bucket. She even kneels down and gets comfy next to the bucket to get a closer look, smiling the entire time. Such a cute little starfish!]

[ ANOTHER VISITOR FOR PETUNIA? Man, he's pulling in all the attention today, the Avatar animals might get jealous...okay, they won't. And Ikki certainly enjoys the fact people are taking note of Petunia, who is pretty amazing in her ever-humble opinion.

She offers Fuuko a grin, cheerful as ever. ]

Hey! Fuuko, right? I think we talked about starfish once...

[SORRY! But come on, like she would go and look at something lame like a sky bison when there's an adorable little starfish around.

Fuuko seems perfectly content just kneeling down while staring at the starfish. She's not off in her own little trance world, but she does seem pretty engrossed in looking Petunia over in that bucket of his. Eventually she realises that someone was talking to her and she looks up with a smile.]

Oh! Yes, that's right. Fuuko can remember talking about the starfish with you... Ikki-chan?

[ LIKE ANYONE WOULD, Prince Petunia is clearly the star of the show, here.

Ikki doesn't seem to mind the slow reaction - if anything, she's pleased by the attention her beloved pet is receiving. ]

That's right! It was a while ago, but I'm glad you remember me! Starfish are your favorites, right?

[Totoro can't help it. He's drawn to Appa, suddenly appearing out of thin air and just...looking right at the enormous sky bison. Why, it's even bigger than he is! And he can feel a sense of...something...coming from it, like that boy he met before. Magic maybe?]

Tooo?

[ Ikki can't help it. She's drawn to Totoro, because - well, when a huge fuzzy animal suddenly shows up and starts looking at your original huge fuzzy animal, and you are seven, you investigate immediately.

She has no idea what she's looking at, but she does know one thing: it is super cute! ]

Ohmigosh it's so cuuuuuuute! Appa, who's your new friend?

[Well Totoro will never, ever mind the company of young children. Mei and Satsuki were by far two of his favorite humans ever, and Ikki is at the median age between the Kusakabi sisters, so...

He grins down at the little girl and points to himself, letting out a deep basso rumble.]

Tooo...tooo...rooooooo!

[breezing]

[ SO. CUUUUUUUTE. ]

Toootoooroooooooo?

[ ...that's so looooong. ]

Totoro? That's shorter.

[ It has to be a new Lucetian, right...? ]

I'm Ikki! This is Appa.

[OF COURSE HE'S COMING TO SEE IKKI.

SHE'S LIKE THE ONLY THING HERE, HER AND SOREN, HE KIND OF CARES ABOUT.

So she's pretty much first order of business.

Though all these animals he knew that Soren'd feel at home in Ikki's house considering they're always around and stuff but seriouslyyy.

Cer and Ber are kind of uncomfortable with so many people milling about at the event, but Chien keeps his hands on them as he admires the sculptures along with the living ones. Their animals remind him of the ones back home. It's nice.]

[ SHE'S SO TOUCHED, or would be if she knew that. ...Well, she'd also force him to meet more people, so...

Spotting Chien has an instant cheering effect on the younger Lucetian - although considering that Ikki is normally cheerful 24/7, this is basically lie stuffing her full of sunshine after she was already full of rainbows. ]

Chien! Cer, Ber! You all came! Oh, do you like the sculptures? Katara and grandpa made them.

Uh huh. They remind me of the animals back home. What're they like?

[HIS WORLD IS WEIRD TOO, IKKI. HE HAS FIRE BREATHING LIZARDS THAT WALK ON TWO LEGS LIKE T-REXES BUT ARE WAY SMALLER AND LIVE IN A DENSE JUNGLE. There's also mermen fish with hooks and frogs of varying sizes that spit acid at you.]

Which ones? I've met some of them, but not all of them. But...otter-penguins are just as cute in real life! Sometimes, if you're quick enough? You can go sledding on them!

[Well she can definitely smell the animals if little else. Though she doesn't believe she's ever seen them--and now isn't looking likely. She rests a hand on on Twilight's head, trying to seem unconcerned with people so close that she can't see. Dangers still hidden. But she is tired of hiding and so she will try and enjoy herself]

Please watch out for...unmentionable things. [that she doesn't want to step in. She's not sure how Twilight feels about that matter, being a pony]

Don't worry, I'll steer plenty clear of that. [ Twilight wrinkles her nose a little at the smell of so many creatures cooped up in the same place - it's a little like Fluttershy's hut. ]

I can see various sizes of fuzzy things. What would you like to visit first? [ She peers curiously at Momo, who has bounced up to her nearby. ]

They're nothing like anything I've seen before. [ That lemur sure is funny-looking... ] Except for Appa, he's Aang's flying bison. The three of us explored the mountains a little while ago.

... Also, that lemur has the largest ears I've ever seen. They're bigger than his head!
