What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

[She nods her head.] I'll try to remember that. Although 'Prince of the Fire Nation' is still a pretty big deal.

[She grins.]

But it doesn't really matter here, does it? Avatars and princes and regular old people, we're all stuck here.

[It would be a bigger deal if his father and sister wouldn't readily kill him. But he does hope to turn the Fire Nation around, so yes. It's still a pretty big deal, overall.

It's just not something he's allowed to go to his head for a while.]

Yeah. Guess there's not really any sort of government or monarchy or anything in place.

Well with everyone coming and going...

[She shrugs.]

Anyway, that was all pretty impressive. I guess the royal family has to be the best benders, right? You're probably as good as Mako.

[twodragons]

We are raised to lead by example, yeah. But anyone can be powerful if they try hard enough.

[He has to believe this, anyway.]

I haven't met Mako. Is he here?

Well, unless they're not a bender to begin with.

[Which she had never thought about until recently...]

No, he's not here, though his brother is... But he's a pro-bender back home, he's pretty amazing at firebending.

Er... there's that, yeah.

I've seen some really helpful non-benders too, though! [Especially here.] And here even they can work with the spirits, right? [Even if recent events might cast a bad light on that.]

Oh right, that one guy with the fire ferret.

Of course we can. [Asami grins.] Not being a bender doesn't make me less helpful, it just means I can't do flashy tricks like that.

[A faint nod.]

Yeah. Mako's his brother. I keep hoping he'll show up.

[Zuko looks at her thoughtfully for a moment, the slightest bit of a smirk appearing.]

This Mako, is he your boyfriend?

[tokennonbender]

[Asami blinks in surprise, but then nods after a second, smiling in a somewhat embarrassed way.]

...Yeah. I suppose it's kind of obvious, huh?

[twodragons]

[He laughs a bit, but in a friendly manner.]

Yeah, kind of.

I understand, though. There's a girl I like back at home. I... don't really know where our relationship stands right now, but I think about her. Don't know if I'd feel right wishing she was here, but I know I will at some point.

[tokennonbender]

Well...I'd rather go home, of course. But if I'm stuck here, and Bolin and Korra are here too, Mako might as well be.

[Asami smiles faintly.]

Well, I will hope she comes then, if you don't want to, alright?

[twodragons]

[He's not sure that's any better, but he smirks anyway.]

[It's a terrible thought, but at least if she's brought in he can technically blame someone else. ...Except not really, because he wouldn't mind it either.]

...So this is two generations of Team Avatar or something, right? I guess I never really thought much about the previous avatars having a group of friends like Aang did.

Apparently. Although we've only been 'Team Avatar' for an hour or so, then I wound up here...

I've never really read about them having anyone, either. But it seems like a good system, I don't know why they wouldn't. [A silly grin.]

I don't think Roku did.

[Zuko has to think about those scrolls for a moment. They don't talk about a group of friends, just his great grandfather - well, his other great grandfather, and his wife.]

But it's definitely a good system. I don't know if Aang would have made it without the others.

Maybe not.

[She grins.]

Korra works really well with a team, but I think she could probably still manage on her own.

Eh...

[He hasn't talked with Korra much yet, but he's gotten some impression of her.]

Maybe. But she needs people to reign her in some.

[Asami can't help but laugh.] I suppose she does.

So how are you settling in?

Well enough. Even though I still hate the idea of having to do it.

[He picks up a bottle of water, offering it to her.]

Have you even seen this? This material is everywhere. [In reference to the plastic.] They can make anything out of it.

I wasn't thrilled about it either, but we do what we have to.

[She tugs her glove off and turns it over so he can see the power supply.]

I'm trying to recreate this. Plastic seems like a better case than the metal my father used.

[If she could stop making them explode anyway...]

It happens!

[Zuko can only really stare at the device. In his mind, it's just a weird fancy glove of some sort.]

Um... Right.

[tokennonbender]

[It's not hard to tell he's confused, and Asami just smiles as she tugs the glove on.]

It's a power supply. See?

[She holds her hand off to the side and flexes her fingers, and electricity crackles along the fingers, visibly arcing along the metal points.]

[Lightning? It's a glove that makes lightning?

That has to be the case. She said she wasn't a bender, didn't she?

Machines that made fire he could understand, but how does one make lightning?]

...How does it do that? It's just a glove!

[tokennonbender]

Well, it's not the glove making the lightning, it's this power supply here. [She taps it, then traces along the metal framework.]

And then the power arcs across these receptors here and flashes out along the metal, so that it will zap anyone it comes into contact with, but the wearer has the protective fabric here that...

[She's just going to go on for a while if he doesn't stop her...]
