What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

It's a nice place. Has its faults, though.

[Even if Derek had a more solid take on Cap, he'd still ask like he had no clue. Hero on his own world or not, Derek has no reason to know about him, and there's only two people he'd ever let known there was media about them where he was from. Luke had been one of them. Tony the other.

...and both of them were pretty unique cases.

He'll chuckle a little.]

Well, they always say 'begin at the beginning', but I have a feeling we'd be here for a while if you did that. Which I don't mind, but we both have to go home sometime.

Maybe start with something that feels good to talk about.

Every place has its faults. That doesn't diminish all the good things about it.

[He considers that for a long moment. Something that felt good to talk about. Definitely not the war then. Or the fact that he was frozen alive for seventy years. But what else is there to tell?]

These people...[He points to the sketches of the Avengers.] They're my teammates back home. We all met for the first time a few months before I came here. We were brought together to safe New York from being invaded by an alien race.

Things were rocky at first. None of us really knew how to fight together. We made...some unfortunate mistakes. But in the end we managed to pull it off and saved a lot of people that day. [He chuckles and shakes his head.]

It feels presumptuous to call us heroes. But I remember feeling pretty heroic then. For the first time in a long time.

Nothing wrong with feeling good about helping people out. Sounds like you guys pretty much put your lives on the line for it, so it's worth being honored for, too.

[He pauses]

So I guess that makes you Captain America.

[neversurrender]

[His brows raise although he's not very surprised by the statement. Many people in Luceti know who he is already.]

Got it in one. [He holds out his hand.] But you can call me Steve.

[Derek nods his head to the side a little; his version of a shrug.]

I think I've met most of you already while I've been here. Tends to make the deduction a little bit easier.

[Derek will take the hand with a smile. His grip is firm, direct.]

Derek Bliss. Nice to meet you, Steve.

Really? Well there a quite a few of us. Makes us hard to avoid.

[Derek chuckles.]

It helps, I think, that we're stuck in a small area. You're going to rub elbows with everyone eventually.

How have you been dealing with being here?

[neversurrender]

Pretty well, I think. It helps to have familiar faces around. Especially after just arriving.

Yeah, I can imagine. Something familiar to keep you grounded, especially considering what we all wake up to when we first get here. Been here long?

[neversurrender]

It'll be a year come early July. Hardly feels like it though. In some ways if feels like I've been here a decade.

[rather_be_surfing]

I hear that's a pretty long time for most of the residents. Don't know if I should congratulate you for your staying power, or my condolences for the same.

[It has the sound of a good natured tease to it.]

So, you have any plans on getting a team or two together? Baseball, I mean.

[neversurrender]

I'll accept both. As much as I wish I wasn't here, I'm glad in some ways to have been here as long as I have. I feel like there's nothing they can throw at me that will catch me off-guard. How about you? Have long have you been here?

[He shakes his head.]

Haven't put much thought into it. Although if this at all helps people get interested in the sport, I wouldn't mind getting a game together.

[rather_be_surfing]

This time? Since January. Been told though that I've been here twice before. I think it works out to roughly three years or so total.

[he nods again at the baseball regalia.]

I dunno. folks might be interested. Seems like social stuff goes down well around here. Give folks something to do and a reason to hang out with each other.

[neversurrender]

A repeat offender. [He looks impressed.] Seems this place just can't let you go.

Yeah, I have noticed that. I'll have to brush up on the rules before I get others involved. I suspect there might be people who have never played that might want to join in.

[rather_be_surfing]

Yeah. I don't know what I did to get so popular, but there you go.

[He nods agreeably to Steve's next words]

If you do, let me know. I'll give it a shot.

I'll do that. If I go through with it I'll probably make an announcement, so keep an ear out.

Even though I've been here almost a year, I've had yet to visit the beach.

[rather_be_surfing]

I've already been out a few times, helping a friend out. kinda thinking of joining her there sometimes. It's a good beach. Good waves, too.

I didn't know there was anyone living out on the beach. I'll have to go by there sometime.

[rather_be_surfing]

We still have to build the house. But yeah, that's where it'll be.

And someone else, too. Their house is there as well. Not sure whose it is, though. Never went and checked.

I can understand the impulse. Living out there would you to get away of some of the village's craziness.

Yeah. Sometimes, even if you like people, you need a break. There's not much to work with in that regard here.

No, there isn't really. Maybe if this place was a little bigger we could all have some breathing room. I doubt that'll happen though.

Maybe so. From what I've heard though, the ocean wasn't always there, so you never know. That might change.

I'll be honest though, I hope it's not at the cost of the forest or anything. It's kinda nice.
