What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

So you admit to having moments of weakness? And yet you're one of the strongest people I know. [His grin forms fully and he bumps his shoulder against hers.]

I am only human, Steve. [A beat, and she snorts a soft, incredulous laugh.] You know demigods, actual gods, superheroes and Jedi. How do I stand in their company in the slightest?

[neversurrender]

[He gives her a considering look.] Because you don't have any special forces or god status backing you and yet you're able to hold your own against them anyways. Just by being yourself. You are your own force of nature.

[fleurdesel]

When, exactly, suicidal irreverence and a lack of proper risk assessment becomes a force of nature you'll have to point out some day.

[All the same she ducks her head and nudges his bicep with her elbow. A simple surgeon, nothing more.

But it's hard not to believe you have some manner of merit when Steve Rodgers looks at you like that.]

Funny, I thought I did just that.

You have tactics, experience, and a bit of superior strenght all your own to mitigate the fallout. I have...

[She shrugs.]

A revolver, three knives on my person at any given time, and a distinct lack of magical ability outside of healing and an electrical pulse on par with a taser. Perhaps I might invest in a shield.

You think I started out with all of those things? No, to begin with the only thing I had going for me was the inability to walk away from a fight. No matter how dangerous the situation was.

It might not sound like much, but I like to think it got me pretty far. And I see the same in you.

...I'm a bit short to become a star spangled woman with a plan. Also- there are no stars on the French Flag.

[It's easier to tease then it is to settle into her own skin and look at how much she's changed. Then to think of what she'd lost when Tsinku left her and how very badly some small part of her wants it back. Well not so small. Quite large.]

For a man like you, who does what you do; lives as you live? It's plenty. It's why everyone was so broken up over the thought of having to take measures during the October draft. You inspire loyalty and that has more to do with being Steve than it does Captain America.

[He snorts and shakes his head.] Now you're just trying to miss my point.

And you don't think you can inspire the same kind of loyalty in people? Because I don't believe that. Within minutes of knowing you, I felt that you would be someone to keep close.

Now, it could just be my excellent judge of character but...I think you had something to do with it to.

The art of Soresu is that of calculated evasion.

[Not that she has her usual study partner anymore. She shrugs and puts it from her mind, smile dimming for but a moment.]

You're certain that had nothing to do with the fact I gave you a shirt?

[Not the worst way to meet someone. Not the best but, certainly not the worst.]

[He smiles and shrugs.]

That most certainly didn't hurt. But I stand by what I said.

You often do. I do not think I've met a man with more conviction than you aside from. Well. Ben.

[His smile softens at the mention of Obi-Wan.] I accept that as a high compliment.

...It feels strange to not have him here.

[fleurdesel]

I can barely remember the village without him. He arrived before I did.

[And left before her as well, leaving friends and fond memories behind. A good man. A kind man.]

I know what you mean. I wish I'd gotten more time to get to know him.

[fleurdesel]

...I have photos- videos.

[She looks up, smile turning fond.]

It is a terribly sentimental thing, I know, but. I took them when I could. Him talking, training, fussing with Helios' dragons. Lecturing me. Telling stories of his world. If you would like to see them...

[He grins and shakes his head.]

There's nothing wrong with being sentimental. He was important to you. And yes, I'd love to see them sometime.

He counted you as a friend; I think he would be glad for you to see them. Even if I caught him at the odd undignified moment.

[neversurrender]

[He chuckled.] It's hard to imagine him having an undignified moment. He always seemed so...together.

[fleurdesel]

He was. It made the undignified moments terribly dignified and all the more hilarious.

Wish I'd been there to see them happen.

[fleurdesel]

You were preoccupied and Ben was...private. For all his skill and experience as an envoy or mediator he was happiest when he could be alone with his tea and books and meditate.

I can understand that. I might not be the type for tea and meditation, but I understand the need for privacy.

It makes life here bearable, to have a bit of space.
