What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

So... do you think people from other worlds could learn to do it, too?

I don't know. I think they can learn something like it, at least with the spirits. But I don't know if it would be exactly the same as bending.

But if it's with the spirits, that's definitely different, isn't it?

Well... yeah. But at least it's still manipulating elements, right?

But... is that all it is? Maybe... there's something more to it. What you do in your world. That sort of thing. I mean, people can do it on their own, right? So what about it makes it so people can do that?

I'm not too great with the details...

Learning how to do it in my own world was hard enough. Hearing about others puts everything in a whole new perspective, ans it's a little hard to deal with.

Can most people in your world do it?

Some of them. I don't think I could say "most".

About how many?

There's no way I could give you an actual number! It's enough of the population that armies can be made of them.

No, I meant, like... what percentage. Just a number wouldn't really tell me much anyway if I don't know how many people live on the world you come from.

I don't know... I've never given it enough thought.

Thirty percent, maybe? Could be more or less depending on the country, I suppose.

... That's a lot. [ Considering how sparse magic seemed to be in his world. All the magical people were just sort of drawn together. ]

Have you ever taught someone here?

Yeah, actually. But all of the actual teaching was done back in our world. Here I've just given advice at best...

Like I said. The teaching happened there.

Working with Eferin has some similarities, though.

Well they both... involve controlling fire?

[It's a hard element to deal with, okay.]

Yeah, but I can do that.

What you were doing... was a lot different.

Maybe as far as the actual techniques go...

But I think with the help of the spirits you can still get a better grasp for it.

Could you do something like that with the spirits?

[twodragons]

I... I don't know. Maybe with practice... I haven't tried, to be honest.

Though I know some things work differently. Lightning is handled by a different spirit, while in my world firebenders can use it if they're good enough.

So... in your world, lightning is the same sort of thing as fire? { Weeeird... ]

[twodragons]

Well... not the same thing...

I guess they have some of the same properties? Controlling both elements certainly isn't the same.

[He still can't manage lightning, for one thing.]

In my world, they're completely different.

[ Also he likes the dude who uses fire and is slightly terrified by the girl who uses lightning, so. Opinions. ]

I've never even thought about trying to use lightning, myself.
