[The rec center today is colourfully decorated, with posters and directing signs here and there to make this whole process easier. The main floor is peppered with a bunch of tables and chairs pilfered from various locations (primarily the school) with two chairs facing each other per table. There's a couple of bigger tables off to the side, one for food (carrying drinks and various snacks, including Teddy and Ororo's homemade rainbow cookies), and the other with a few chairs and piles of paper everywhere. And a checklist. The checklist is important.

The desk is Billy's, and he's handing sheets of paper out to anyone who comes in and was signed up for the speed dating. Give your name, get a sheet and a name tag, go to the first desk or mingle until it starts- that's what people will be told when they arrive. Teddy's not far from the desk or the door depending on where he's needed, directing people to follow the signs, get comfortable, try some snacks- whatever they want.

Finally a lounge area has been set up with cushy chairs, couches, and the rec center's supply of games and whatnot in the corner. There is a sign for the area that says, "If you find yourself on a turn without a date, come hang out!" It's also got a picture of a weird-looking potato man hanging out, but never mind that.

When everything is ready and people are good to go, Teddy steps up and calls for attention, with Billy sitting on top of the table behind him for moral support (and unhelpful interruptions).]

Hey, guys – Hey! Can everyone hear me? Everyone? [...] Great!

I'm sure everyone knows why they're here. Or, you know, not, since a few of these sign-ups look a little suspicious... [He raises an eyebrow at that, but his smile remains good-natured, and his brow smooths over soon enough.] On behalf of Alliance, welcome to Luceti's very first -

- speed dating event! [Though Teddy glances at Billy for that interruption, he'd paused as if he expected it to come.] I'm Teddy, and this is Billy, and we're your hosts today. I'll try to be brief for those of you who just want to get this started already, but let's go over the rules and regulations first.

If you happened to get dragged into this without knowing what you're getting yourself into, it's basically exactly as it sounds. You might remember one of us handing you a list of numbers. Well, when Billy gives the signal, everyone will head to the table with the first number on their list, which will pair you off with someone in the room you just might not have met before! You'll have five minutes to talk to them and get to know them, just enough time for a good – or bad – first impression. After that, one of us will blow the whistle, and you'll go to the next numbered table. And on and on, until it's all over! By then, you might have found someone you're interested in, either as a friend, a potential love interest, or even just someone you really don't want to see again.

To keep track of it all, there's a space beside the number to write down the name of the person you're talking to and anything else you might have learned about them. And maybe by the end, you can write down a no, a yes, or an oh yes.

Try not to be too vague about it and we'll give you your matches at some point in the future.

[Teddy grins after that, a happy and excited one.] Remember, this is all about having fun and meeting new people! If you want to take a break, get bored, or don't have a partner, refreshments are on that side of the room [He gestures to the side, showing off the assorted foods and the cookies that he and Ororo spent a good part of the night baking.], or you can come up and talk to us! We're just the supervisors here, after all.

[He takes a step back after that, his attention going to Billy, his way of telling him to give the signal.] Billy?

[Billy gives a small wave, remaining on his table. Teddy did the hard part, after all.] There's a lounge, too, if we're not interesting enough. You might meet somebody there you're not paired with and find a new friend, so give it a shot.

That's pretty much it, so everyone can go on and head to your first table, and we'll blow the whistle in one minute. Thanks for coming, and try to have fun!

For serious? Dude, that's- [As if on cue, the whistle for the next round sounds and everyone starts shuffling around.] Talk about timing! C'mon, we can sit right over there. This is gonna be great!

[And with that she's already bounding off towards an open table. She stops halfway to look over shoulder and wave Barnaby over before she reaches the table and crashes down in one of the seats.]

My university might have hosted one once, I think. [Vaguely he remembered Sophia mentioning something of the sort, once. He hadn't really been interested.]

I never went though.

"I suppose. Most people here are friendly enough." Well, there was Loki. But she didn't want to start a brawl.

"And you? I didn't expect you to come to something like this. Have you met anyone interesting?"

'tis not a matter of where I might usually meet them... [Long, sly fingers toy and tease with one of the strings lacing his shirt. Slow, practiced motions.] ...but rather, where I would have liked to do so.

[He answers this with a sigh. He should really loosen this tie, but that would look lame. But comfort... Hm]

[In her excitement, Pascal ends up running right by Joshua and off to some other part of the rec center before realising where her next match is. She soon ends up double backing on herself and finding the right table though, giving Joshua a a big smile while she slides into the chair across from him.]

Whew, found it! Hiya, I'm Pascal. What's up?

[ As Flora makes her way to the table, she gives a small half-wave before dropping her hand to her side. She hopes that it wasn't too casual a greeting, suddenly self-conscious. Man, she should have asked for some tips on this before coming, she's so out of her element here.

She gives a smile and smooths her skirt before sitting down, hoping she doesn't look as nervous as she feels. ]

Ah...hello. I believe you're my next match? [ She hopes so, anyway. It would be kind of awkward if she'd taken someone else's seat. ]

Hi, Elizabeth. I'm Kouki and it's nice to meet you. [He still remember his manners, okay.] A young man from Tokyo, Japan. Well, before I arrived in Luceti.

[Depending on how you look at it, he's technically telling the truth. No need to spring up the demon world thing on someone.]

Konan

[When Konan had received the invitation, she assumed she'd been invited for the sake of meeting new friends. She was trying to keep herself open to that. As a child, she'd been friendly and sweet. As she grew older, she was a less open person, but it was only in the past seven years that she'd really emotionally shut down. When Naruto got through to Nagato, in turn, he reached her and his words resonated. She wanted peace, and understanding was a key to peace.

Part of understanding was a willingness to accept and get to know others. Ultimately, that was why she'd shown up for this event.

She's not going out of her way to mingle, but she does take a moment to greet the people familiar to her. In the meantime, she's occupying herself with making an origami flower. Her attention is still on her surroundings, though, and when someone moves close to the table she's seated at, she greets them.]

[With that out of the way, Pascal plops down into the seat opposite Rin and shuffles around for a second or two to get comfortable.]

Sooo yeah, this is great and stuff. How're you getting on?

[Interesting stories are things to be told, so when Don shows curiosity, Souji elaborates.]

He was a boy of 15, but he looked to be no more than 12 at most. When I saw him come by the compound, he had been determined to join our group, but the men turned him away. I followed him and Saizou and I decided to play catch.

However, when I threw his bone, he ran straight for the boy's head instead.

[Souji's amusement as he remembers that meeting years ago is unrestrained as he laughs.]

He got thrown straight into the river! I've never seen anyone take such a graceful dive before.

[Well, Ororo is the first one on his list of tables to stop at; so he pulls the chair out to take a seat right across from her as he saw everyone else doing, looking a little grouchy if not still a little confused.]

Better knowing that there's someone around here who's over the age of eighteen for a change. [The amount of kids he's had to talk to since he's been here? TOO MANY ORORO, TOO MANY.]

[Such a strange man...Something about him reminds Souji of Yoshida, or even that stranger that wore his face. He's dangerous and calculated and definitely looking for something that Souji isn't entirely certain he can provide. Still, that won't stop him from being polite and continuing the conversation.]

And where would you have preferred to meet the people you've met today?

Perhaps it was wishful thinking, but at first it didn't register that the Jack on her list of matches was the same Jack who'd been seeking out women willing to sleep with his friend (and also with himself). Then she realized that no, it was in fact the same Jack, and that he'd likely been matched up with her because of age range. Sadly, age didn't always reflect maturity. She supposed she was just fortunate that this little meetings were timed, so she could make polite small talk and move on for a less awkward conversation elsewhere later.

Though Konan was in her early thirties, she looked closer to her early twenties. She hadn't dressed up in particular, wearing loose but tidy clothing that covered most of her body.

[He suddenly is unsure about the nature of their relationship, since apparently they had one at some point. Were they close friends? Aquaintances? Lovers? It was probably best that he didn't know...

He laughed, perplexed by her greeting, and gave her a smile.]

It's nothing, really. I hear that they have some nice concessions today, made special for this event. Shall we?

[Kouki smiles, not at all like the polite ones he's been using, and wave at Fayt.] Hey, Fayt!

[The pig snorted and started snuffling around, looking for something to eat while Souji smiled at the man.]

And how are you faring? Been very busy today?

I was only supposed to come by and drop off some food things, but then I saw my name signed up.

[He trails off as he notices her incredulity at his pet. Saizou stares back at Adele, bracing his front hooves as if he's expecting to be chased.]

Oh, that's Saizou. Don't worry, he isn't signed up for the dating thing.

[Isaac is one of Konan's matches, and she's concluded that the conversation couldn't possibly be more awkward than it was with Jack. Boy, was she ever wrong.

She greets him with a polite nod. An elaborate origami flower adorns her blue hair.]

Good evening.

[She was either hyper or childish, he couldn't tell. Suddenly, he was almost dreading what the next several minutes would bring.

Barnaby followed her with a calmer, more collected grace, and sat down across from her.]

We'll see how it goes... where did you want to begin, Miss?

[Eyebrows lift in a lazy, feigned show of surprise, head tilting to one side.] Oh?

[He slouches deeper into his seat and neatly laces his fingers while wearing the smuggest of arch grins.]
