[The rec center today is colourfully decorated, with posters and directing signs here and there to make this whole process easier. The main floor is peppered with a bunch of tables and chairs pilfered from various locations (primarily the school) with two chairs facing each other per table. There's a couple of bigger tables off to the side, one for food (carrying drinks and various snacks, including Teddy and Ororo's homemade rainbow cookies), and the other with a few chairs and piles of paper everywhere. And a checklist. The checklist is important.

The desk is Billy's, and he's handing sheets of paper out to anyone who comes in and was signed up for the speed dating. Give your name, get a sheet and a name tag, go to the first desk or mingle until it starts- that's what people will be told when they arrive. Teddy's not far from the desk or the door depending on where he's needed, directing people to follow the signs, get comfortable, try some snacks- whatever they want.

Finally a lounge area has been set up with cushy chairs, couches, and the rec center's supply of games and whatnot in the corner. There is a sign for the area that says, "If you find yourself on a turn without a date, come hang out!" It's also got a picture of a weird-looking potato man hanging out, but never mind that.

When everything is ready and people are good to go, Teddy steps up and calls for attention, with Billy sitting on top of the table behind him for moral support (and unhelpful interruptions).]

Hey, guys – Hey! Can everyone hear me? Everyone? [...] Great!

I'm sure everyone knows why they're here. Or, you know, not, since a few of these sign-ups look a little suspicious... [He raises an eyebrow at that, but his smile remains good-natured, and his brow smooths over soon enough.] On behalf of Alliance, welcome to Luceti's very first -

-We think.

- speed dating event! [Though Teddy glances at Billy for that interruption, he'd paused as if he expected it to come.] I'm Teddy, and this is Billy, and we're your hosts today. I'll try to be brief for those of you who just want to get this started already, but let's go over the rules and regulations first.

If you happened to get dragged into this without knowing what you're getting yourself into, it's basically exactly as it sounds. You might remember one of us handing you a list of numbers. Well, when Billy gives the signal, everyone will head to the table with the first number on their list, which will pair you off with someone in the room you just might not have met before! You'll have five minutes to talk to them and get to know them, just enough time for a good – or bad – first impression. After that, one of us will blow the whistle, and you'll go to the next numbered table. And on and on, until it's all over! By then, you might have found someone you're interested in, either as a friend, a potential love interest, or even just someone you really don't want to see again.

To keep track of it all, there's a space beside the number to write down the name of the person you're talking to and anything else you might have learned about them. And maybe by the end, you can write down a no, a yes, or an oh yes.

Try not to be too vague about it and we'll give you your matches at some point in the future.

[Teddy grins after that, a happy and excited one.] Remember, this is all about having fun and meeting new people! If you want to take a break, get bored, or don't have a partner, refreshments are on that side of the room [He gestures to the side, showing off the assorted foods and the cookies that he and Ororo spent a good part of the night baking.], or you can come up and talk to us! We're just the supervisors here, after all.

[He takes a step back after that, his attention going to Billy, his way of telling him to give the signal.] Billy?

[Billy gives a small wave, remaining on his table. Teddy did the hard part, after all.] There's a lounge, too, if we're not interesting enough. You might meet somebody there you're not paired with and find a new friend, so give it a shot.

That's pretty much it, so everyone can go on and head to your first table, and we'll blow the whistle in one minute. Thanks for coming, and try to have fun!

[Naruto isn't quite sure what he's doing here- he didn't sign himself up for this but his Mother had good intentions. Right?? Either way- he doesn't want to disappoint her even though it's pretty weird that she wants to set him up with a girl why didn't she ask Sakura-chan??

Meeting new people is fun anyway so he'll be here with a smile on his face, looking out for his apparent matches or anyone else that wants to stop by and say hi.]

[After some time at her own table, Hinata finally gets up to walk around. She notices Naruto-kun at his own table and debates whether to go over or not. She doesn't want to push her feelings on him. That's never been her way. She can live just being his friend if she has to—not that that's what she wants.

She waffles a bit before finally going over to his table and standing behind the empty chair.]

How are...how are you this evening?

Hinata..

[So she was here too, huh? He realises she's on his list too, and motions towards the chair.]

Sit, sit!

[As he waits for her to sit down, he speaks up again.]

Uh.. I really dunno how this thing works still, but we're meant to ask questions and stuff right? Even though we already know each other...

[She smiles and takes the seat across from him, trying to ignore how just being with him makes her stupidly happy.] We can just talk to one another if you want.

Have you... have you done anything fun with your parents since the last time we saw each other?

Uh, lets see... Oh! [He holds a finger up.] Yeah, I cooked a cake with my Mom! For Father's day y'know? And I hung out with my Dad, it was fun.

[twinlionfists]

[Hinata nods with a pleased smile on her face, but a part of her wonders about her father and the rest of the clan, their friends, left back in their world and her smile slips a little.]

I am happy for you.

Mmm. [He's smiling back at her.]

What about you? Did you do anythin' since you came over?

[Oh, good, a distraction!]

I had dinner with Sakura-san which consisted of things that were sweet and more than likely unhealthy for us. I made dinner for Lee-san and Neji-niisan... Um, I discovered the local bakery. The proprietress is a nice woman by the name of Rapunzel-san. And she makes wonderful cinnamon buns. I have seen more of our friends from home as well.

A-and, I am beginning to fit in at the clinic in the village.

I haven't done nearly as much as you, though I guess I started making some new friends here, maybe.

Oh? Wh-who have you met? [She looks up at him with an interested expression. She's always loved to hear about Naruto making new friends, since as children he was nearly alone all the time.]

All sorts! I met some guy that invited me to a party, then this other guy who said he's playing something called baseball and I'm gonna go play, and win! [The remembering names part hasn't quite happened yet.]

Er- then I've met people I already know, like Konan! She's real nice. And some girl that's starting a club where unsociable people have gotta write letters to people. Er, I think I maybe signed Neji up for it though, so don't tell him, right?

I have spoken with Suzumiya-san. I offered to be one of the people who wrote to others. [The less said about Haruhi is probably for the best, considering how Hinata and she ended. However, she can still smile happily when Nartuo is so overly enthusiastic about everything.]

I am glad that you are enjoying yourself. You sound as if you have found things to fill your time, unlike when we last spoke.

Oh,you know her too? [Unfortunately Naruto doesn't know about anything that happened between them, though...]

You'd better do it, I heard that if people don't write, they're gonna have to do forfeits in maid outfits. [Do you want to have to wear a skimp maid outfit Hinata? DO YOU?]

Yeah, still strange not having anything to do though. Like, war or missions you know?

[Bulla's stopping by to say hello to people she's been matched up with, regardless of if it was for friendship or romance. The getting to know you stage is much the same for either, and it's less nerve wracking to approach someone as a prospective friend.]

[That's a pretty good way to go about it, and he is pretty much doing the same. He doesn't even know how to act any other way, really.]

[Waving back just as cheerfully, he motions for her to sit down near him.]

Bulla, huh? I've never heard that name before.

Well, different worlds, different names, right? You're the first person named Naruto that I've ever met.

So, what do you do for fun around here?

Yeah, I guess you're right!

[Moving on, he can answer that pretty easily.]

Well I train every day! Sometimes on my own, sometimes with one of my friends or my Dad. And I guess I spend a lotta time just hanging out around the village and seeing what's going on, y'know?

What about you?

I used to like shopping and hanging out with friends...but lately hanging out with friends has included a lot of training. It helped me surprise Dad for Father's Day, too. Otherwise, I started Fashion Club with my friend Quinn and I sometimes work at Mom's salon.

[She's learned that it's rare for people to be fortunate enough to have their family members here, so it's interesting to her that Naruto's father is here.]

I haven't really trained much with friends yet, but I wanna try it some time! THe battle dome is pretty cool.

[He's listening- so her Mom and Dad are here too? That's awesome, he's learnt that most people here don't have thir families, while he who didn't have one found them in this place.]

You do? That's awesome! My Mom's here too, but we all arrived not too long ago. [A beat.] So none of us have jobs or anything like that, or really do much.

Training with friends is more fun, I've found. Especially if they're good at explaining things and their fighting style meshes well with yours.

[Although this is, in part, due to how seriously her father takes it, and how much he expects. To him, ten times Earth's gravity is "soft" training, and not remotely challenging.]

Since there's no money here, jobs are basically optional, but if you want one, there's plenty of places that could probably use some extra help.

Mmm, it's been a really long time since I've trained with some of my friends, maybe I should get them to go do it one day.

[The job idea is a good thing though. If he could stick to one.]

I guess I should have a look and see if there's something interesting I could do.

Has anyone shown you how to program a training scenario into the Battle Dome yet? If not, I can teach you.

[She got the hang of it pretty quickly.]

There's different kinds of social clubs around here, too. I started a Fashion Club with my friend Quinn.

[She'd even recruited a number of people for it, including a certain blonde kunoichi Naruto knows.]

[He looks really pumped about it, he's wanted to check out that battle dome place for a while.]

You can program all sorts of stuff into it...and adjust the gravity in the room so it's up to ten times Earth's gravity.

[Which was endlessly disappointing to her father, who would have liked it to have at least a maximum of two hundred times Earth's gravity.]

...fair enough.

[She's tactful enough to not say 'obviously'. Orange isn't a terrible colour for him, but his clothing would look better if he wore less orange. An orange t-shirt with a black jacket and some blue jeans, perhaps.]

Well, if you ever want some fashion advice, feel free to come to me. I'm good at picking out things that suit people's own individual styles.
