[The rec center today is colourfully decorated, with posters and directing signs here and there to make this whole process easier. The main floor is peppered with a bunch of tables and chairs pilfered from various locations (primarily the school) with two chairs facing each other per table. There's a couple of bigger tables off to the side, one for food (carrying drinks and various snacks, including Teddy and Ororo's homemade rainbow cookies), and the other with a few chairs and piles of paper everywhere. And a checklist. The checklist is important.

The desk is Billy's, and he's handing sheets of paper out to anyone who comes in and was signed up for the speed dating. Give your name, get a sheet and a name tag, go to the first desk or mingle until it starts- that's what people will be told when they arrive. Teddy's not far from the desk or the door depending on where he's needed, directing people to follow the signs, get comfortable, try some snacks- whatever they want.

Finally a lounge area has been set up with cushy chairs, couches, and the rec center's supply of games and whatnot in the corner. There is a sign for the area that says, "If you find yourself on a turn without a date, come hang out!" It's also got a picture of a weird-looking potato man hanging out, but never mind that.

When everything is ready and people are good to go, Teddy steps up and calls for attention, with Billy sitting on top of the table behind him for moral support (and unhelpful interruptions).]

Hey, guys – Hey! Can everyone hear me? Everyone? [...] Great!

I'm sure everyone knows why they're here. Or, you know, not, since a few of these sign-ups look a little suspicious... [He raises an eyebrow at that, but his smile remains good-natured, and his brow smooths over soon enough.] On behalf of Alliance, welcome to Luceti's very first -

- speed dating event! [Though Teddy glances at Billy for that interruption, he'd paused as if he expected it to come.] I'm Teddy, and this is Billy, and we're your hosts today. I'll try to be brief for those of you who just want to get this started already, but let's go over the rules and regulations first.

If you happened to get dragged into this without knowing what you're getting yourself into, it's basically exactly as it sounds. You might remember one of us handing you a list of numbers. Well, when Billy gives the signal, everyone will head to the table with the first number on their list, which will pair you off with someone in the room you just might not have met before! You'll have five minutes to talk to them and get to know them, just enough time for a good – or bad – first impression. After that, one of us will blow the whistle, and you'll go to the next numbered table. And on and on, until it's all over! By then, you might have found someone you're interested in, either as a friend, a potential love interest, or even just someone you really don't want to see again.

To keep track of it all, there's a space beside the number to write down the name of the person you're talking to and anything else you might have learned about them. And maybe by the end, you can write down a no, a yes, or an oh yes.

Try not to be too vague about it and we'll give you your matches at some point in the future.

[Teddy grins after that, a happy and excited one.] Remember, this is all about having fun and meeting new people! If you want to take a break, get bored, or don't have a partner, refreshments are on that side of the room [He gestures to the side, showing off the assorted foods and the cookies that he and Ororo spent a good part of the night baking.], or you can come up and talk to us! We're just the supervisors here, after all.

[He takes a step back after that, his attention going to Billy, his way of telling him to give the signal.] Billy?

[Billy gives a small wave, remaining on his table. Teddy did the hard part, after all.] There's a lounge, too, if we're not interesting enough. You might meet somebody there you're not paired with and find a new friend, so give it a shot.

That's pretty much it, so everyone can go on and head to your first table, and we'll blow the whistle in one minute. Thanks for coming, and try to have fun!

[Artemis is really not sure how she got talked into this. She thinks it had something to do with her and Zatanna conspiring to get the boys here and didn't quite think about that meaning she would end up here too.

She's still feeling a little sort of awkward after the unsettling few weeks she's had, but she takes her list, dons her name tag and obediently follows Billy and Teddy's directions as much as she can.

And she'll do her best to be mostly friendly to whoever settles across from her.

...But let's be honest, Artemis is hardly Miss Social Butterfly, so she's not making ay promises.]

[Asami is weaving her way through the tables hunting for her next number when she spots it, and the blonde teenager sitting there. Well then! She gives her a smile as she comes to a stop there, her hand resting on the back of the chair opposite as her eyes narrow to find her nametag. Artemis? Right.]

Hey. I think I'm here next? I'm Asami.

[She offers her hand out to shake as she sinks down into the chair.]

[Artemis glances up at the unfamiliar voice, giving the woman and uncertain-but-game smile as she reaches out to take her hand in greeting.]

I think you are. Hey. I'm Artemis.

[Asami can certainly understand that uncertainty, though she makes her own pretty well.]

Nice to meet you. [A friendly grin. Okay...ice breaking small talk.] This is all pretty strange, huh? Following numbers to meet people?

We don't have anything like this back home.

[As Hisoka settles across from Artemis, he gives a small, halfhearted bow, generally avoiding eye contact. It's probably not something to take personally, as he seems more generally uncomfortable than he takes offense to Artemis specifically.]

...It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Miss Artemis. [Even though it doesn't sound like much of a pleasure.]

[She's not really used to being bowed to, and she's not exactly certain of what she's supposed to do in return. Is she supposed to bow back? She's got no idea. So she just goes with her gut instincts and gives him a crooked smile, her tone friendly.]

A few more times repeating that and you might actually sound convincing. Let me guess. Someone conned you into tonight.

[He doesn't take offense from it. Luceti's full of westerners and Hisoka's been exposed to them long enough he's almost completely unscathed by their throughtless lack of manners. (Except for the shoes-inside-the-house thing because HOW COULD YOU NOT TAKE OFF YOUR SHOES it makes no sense D: ) ]

It's... Not quite my ideal way to spend an evening, no. Sometimes people do things they think is right even when it's troublesome. Isn't that why you brought your friends here against their will?

[Bulla takes a seat and greets Artemis with a smile. She's at least getting into the social mingling, and she's actually doing so more to be sociable than for any other reason.]

Hi Artemis. I'm Bulla.

[She offers her hand to shake.]

It's nice to meet you.

[Artemis is slowly starting to get the hang of this whole thing, although she's still fighting off the last of the nervous butterflies. But she returns Bulla's smile with one of her own, reaching out and taking her hand with a warm grip.]

Hey, I guess you're my next match-up, then. Nice to meet you too.

[Fortunately, Bulla is right in her element when she's socializing and she's a welcoming person.]

How long have you been here in Luceti, Artemis? I've been here for about three months now.

[She offers a slight wry smile.]

The wings took some getting used to. And all the other weird things that happen here.

[He is so, so over-dressed. This suit he's in is more than everyone else is wearing and the tie is starting to feel constricting the longer the night goes on, even if he did tie it perfectly. And his hair has by now reverted to its natural, unruly, form. At least he managed to get a soda.

Aaaand... next table. Another romance. Err- Okay, he can do this, even if it's another pretty blonde girl]

Ossu. [Oh wait, she might] I got a soda, want me to go get you one?

[Before he actually sits down, his tail shifting behind him]

[The suit is, at least, considerably dressier than what Artemis is sporting. Mostly because she doesn't really do dressy - that's more Zatanna's field than hers, so she's just in a nice pair of jeans, tanktop and a jacket over top. Dating... isn't something she does a whole lot of, unless chasing down bad guys with Wally counts.

...Somehow she didn't think it did.

Still, she grins up at him when he offers and shakes her head.] Hi. Uh, no, I'm good. Thanks, though. I'm Artemis.

[And wait. Was that a tail? Huh. Okay, then.]

Okay, cool! I'm Rin- [...] Nice to meet you.

[And with this, he takes the seat opposite her and opens the soda. He takes a sip immediately, relieved to have the refreshment after all this talking and being tense and... "Dates"]

[Chouji knows how he got talked into this. The answer is a single word. A name, really. Ino. Ino has all the stubbornness of the boar for which she was named, and it's easier to just go along with her plans once she's got her mind set on something.

He's here, friendly and mostly willing. Chouji's just a little doubtful about the whole romance part of things.]

[Artemis is typically doubtful about most set-up social situations, but she gives him a crooked smile anyway, holding out her hand in greeting when he sits down across from her.]

I think you're probably right. Hi, I'm Artemis.

Elizabeth had a wide eyed look about her for the whole event, in here was honestly more people at one time than she'd been exposed to in her existence so the whole thing was a bit intimidating. Still this was for the social links so she sat down across from the blonde and bowed her head.

"Hello! I am Elizabeth and you were listed as a potential social link?"

Artemis gave her a friendly smile, her arms propped atop the table as the other girl sat down.

"Hiya, I'm Artemis. And yeah, that sounds about right. Although I've met such a whirlwind of people tonight, I'm pretty much fine with whoever sits down across from me at this point," she jokes wryly.

Elizabeth nods a bit and sits down in a rather formal way.

"I see. I was late to the event and this is."

She looks at all the people and shakes her head a bit.

"Slightly overwhelming. This realm certainly has many in it."

[ Joshua sits down in the seat across from Artemis easily. He takes just a moment to size her up, then gives a small wave. ]

Good afternoon. Pleasure to meet you.

[She gives a grin and a wiggle of her fingers in return when he sits down across from her, her chin propped in her free hand.]

Hey. Same here. I'm Artemis.

[ Finally someone who knows how to wave in return. And here he didn't think it was that uncommon a greeting. ]

[Pilouette is much more comfortable talking with girls than she was with the boys on her list. However, she had no one to blame for being her besides herself as she had overestimated how much confidence she had. Things always are easier in theory than in practice, it seems.

However, Pilouette really wants to meet new people! That's why she's here! So, she settles down across from Artemis and gives a friendly little wave.]

Hi! I'm Pilouette. Like, nice to meet you.

[Artemis grins in return, shifting comfortably in her seat and this was a little more overwhelming than she'd anticipated. She really hoped she didn't mix people's names up when she ran into them again after today. At least this one was unique enough that she didn't think she'd have a problem.]

Hey, I'm Artemis. And you too. You look like you've been having an easier time of this than I have. [Picking up on how eager the other girl seems to be is simple, especially when Artemis has felt so very much awkward for at least half of these introductions.]

[Static sits down across from Artemis and smiles hesitantly.]

Uh, hey. Guess we got paired up. [...] If you want to use this as a break to go do something else...

[Artemis just gives him a grin and props her arms on the table as she eyes him.]
