As this was possibly the only chance Rogue had to sneak up on her boyfriend ever, she wanted to make it worth it. She poured herself into a champagne colored dress that dipped low enough to expose the emerald pendent that she had adjusted to rest just over the break in her cleavage. All those hours of shopping at the gift shop paid off and the 1950s flair the dress had made it perfect to recalling back the last time she had come upon Loki in a poker game.

She approached from behind, coming up alongside him and accepting a glass of complimentary champagne and for kicks and giggles, she affected an English accent as she moved to whisper in his ear, "Buy you a drink, luv?"

Loki was well schooled enough to not actually startle, though he did stiffen. But that voice...

Ah. Well.

His smile went from his normal poker face to a wicked grin. Unceremoniously, he slipped an arm around her waist and pulled her into his lap. "Mmm, I don't think I've got a hand free for a drink, I'm afraid."

Rogue eeped lightly at Loki's sudden movement, some of the champagne in her hand spilling over her bare arm, and then laughed despite herself. She draped her free arm over his shoulder, pleased with his response even if she'd hoped to take him a little more by surprise.

"Hiya, sugar." She leaned up to give him a completely unpolite kiss in shameless disregard of their audience.

Loki kissed her enthusiastically in return, then picked up his hand of cards and held them under Rogue's chin, careful to not touch her with them. "A bit of luck from my lady?"

Rogue gave a low whistle. "I'd say you don't need any luck from me. Maybe I should get up before Lady Luck gets jealous."

What was actually in his cards didn't matter. This was far more fun.

"Hush, you. Don't make my friends nervous." He grinned evilly at the rest of the table. "My lap has more than enough room for all my lucky ladies."

"Yeah, but where will you put all the tokens?" Rogue grinned.

One of the gentlemen at the table decided that Rogue was bluffing, quite loudly, and raised his bet. Another folded while the third seemed to be paying far more attention to the way the pendent had rolled over the low cut of her dress and the stretch of leg her slit exposed than anything that was going on in the game.

Loki gave her cleavage an assessing look. "I'll think of something."

Loki raised the bet again though with a show of reluctance, then glanced at the man who seemed very interested Rogue's charms. He very pointedly nuzzled her neck and said, "Ladies like a winner. Hope I can keep winning."

Rogue gasped and in an overly dramatic move -- she may just be performing a little, for the heck of it -- covered her cleavage with her hand, the movement saying without words: Don't you dare.

...seriously, though, he'd better not.

Tilting her head for Loki, she made a small sound of approval that was, in fact, completely genuine. She wouldn't play around with this. And while she wasn't much for PDA, this wasn't over the top. Besides...

She cast a glance at the man who was staring at them through heavily lidded lashes, "Aren't you gonna bet?"

The man swallowed and not only called Loki's bet, he raised.

...She should probably be ashamed of this.

"You temptress," Loki murmured. He eyed the man who had raised as if assessing an opponent in a fight. "Think you'll tempt my lady away with your boldness?"

He checked his cards again, then put in another bet, raising. "I must throw caution to the winds I suppose. You have that effect on me, dearest."

There was also the fact that this time, math was very much on his side.

The gentleman in question gave Loki a brief look, "'Ladies like a winner,'" and then shot a look of boyish charm and hope in Rogue's direction. There was such a disingenuous charm to it, that Rogue couldn't automatically discern whether or not it was slimey or genuine. Either way, it was a strange cross between flattering and insulting -- obviously she was with Loki, why would he think...

Well, Loki had said it first.

Rogue rolled her eyes, but her smile was kind. "Sorry, sugar. I'm gonna stick with a sure thing." She kissed Loki's cheek and then addressed him. "An' I take that as a compliment. Do you have a napkin?"

She held up her arm that had the champagne glass, and part of her glove and bits of bare skin now glistened with spilled champagne.

A sure thing. How odd. When had he become that?

"Not on me," he said. Then he smirked, taking her hand and kissing the bare skin that had been dotted with champagne. "Your glove will have to take care of itself, though."

One of the remaining players rolled his eyes. "Get a room, you too. I'm going to call, lover boy."

Loki grinned at Rogue and placed another kiss delicately on her arm, then flipped his cards over. The other players groaned in response.

And he'd only cheated a little this time. Just a little.

Rogue's cheeks tinted faintly as a result of Loki's attention, but she managed a dry tone, "And here I thought you didn't have a spare hand for a drink."

She took a calm sip of her champagne to hide the curve of her smile as groans went up from around the table at Loki's winning hand. One of the players said, "That's it, I'm out," and got up to leave.

"I don't. My hand seems to be occupied elsewhere."

Loki grinned at the other players. "And what of the rest of you?"

The same player that had called him lover boy rolled his eyes. "I didn't sign up for a show while I played. I'm out too."

Loki looked back at Rogue. "What is my lady's pleasure?"

His hand certainly did seem to be occupied elsewhere. She couldn't complain, however. Rogue glanced around the table.

"It seems as though two seats have opened up. I think I'll take one of them." She turned to give Loki a smile, "If you spot me my openin' bid."

"Oooh. A truly brave opponent." Loki gestured grandly toward his large pile of chips. "Take what you like."

Rogue rested her champagne glass on the table and then hooked her finger in Loki's collar, pulling him closer. "I already have."

She gave a lingering kiss to his lower lip and then released him, moving to slide off his lap.

Loki might have looked ever-so-slightly poleaxed when she pulled away, though he recovered quickly and smirked. "Who else is brave enough to stay in?"

It seemed the other opponents were, and another woman (though not nearly as pretty as Rogue, in his opinion) slid in to fill the other seat.

In this context, Rogue decided that poleaxed was a very good thing. Smiling a little to herself, Rogue stood beside him and smoothed down her dress, in part so he'd have the chance to properly admire it since she didn't think he'd actually seen it at all, and in part because it had gotten twisted around when he'd pulled her into his lap.

She took her seat and a modest amount of tokens from Loki's pile. She probably could go get her own, but this was much more fun, and she didn't really want to walk away. The other woman gave Rogue one of those covert,assessing stares and frowned while Rogue pretended not to have seen it. She wasn't here to challenge anyone; she was here to flirt with her boyfriend and play poker.

"So have any of you tried the chocolate mousse?" Rogue said innocently. She stared at the cards as they were being dealt. "I do enjoy it when it's served the right way."

She flicked her gaze to Loki then.

Loki did inspect the dress, and was very pleased by the result. He made no secret of either of those things, watching her as she moved around the table.

Chocolate mousse. He licked his lips, and it had nothing to do with the idea of mousse.

"If you two are done flirting," one of the remaining men said, sounding annoyed, "Let's get the next hand." That prodded the dealer back into activity.

"We're never done," Loki murmured, amused.

The other still seemed more interested in conversation. "I like mousse. And cheesecake."

Rogue decided that if Annoyance Man was so easily annoyed by a bit of innocuous conversation, then he would really be better off seated elsewhere. She'd work on wiping him out first.

And keep flirting with Loki. Her tone remained perfectly conversational, if slightly speculative, addressing the gentleman who had picked up bait not meant for him. It didn't matter, she could work with it, "It's quite a spread they put out there. All kinds of delicacies. I bet there are some types of dessert I haven't even tried yet."

Loki still managed to give his freshly dealt cards an intent look, but his attention had wandered a bit. Rogue was doing this on purpose. He liked it. "We can't have that, now can we?"

Annoyed Man gave them both a look. Loki smiled charmingly. "Don't like sweets?" he purred.

"He might just not have had any in a while," Rogue put in helpfully, her voice innocent. "It can be easy to underestimate how good something is if you haven't experienced it."

She calmly put down two cards for the dealer to change.

Annoyed man wasn't in the least bit fooled. He rolled his eyes. "Too much dessert and you get fat," he said.

"Rude," Loki remarked casually. Yes, he would be trying to destroy that player, himself. "I certainly hope you're not implying anything." He did a quick mental calculation and handed over three cards, before turning his attention back to Rogue. "Though my own sweet tooth would like to be indulged, I think, now that you've mentioned it."

The other man, ever hopeful, asked Rogue, "Can you show me where the desserts are? Those sound awesome."

"I'm in the middle of a game now, sugar." She picked up her two cards and fanned them into her hand. "But it's hard to miss the buffet. The line's a mile wide. That's okay, though. Some things are worth the wait." She glanced at Loki. "An' I hear this is all you can eat."

Annoyed Man made an annoyed sound, but he was frowning at his cards. It was far too exaggerated a frown.
