Summary: The next experiment begins, Naoki takes a turn for the crazy worst—there are too many humans here, after all, and obviously this needs to be fixed. Meanwhile, Isamu shoulders the role of ‘demi-fiend’.
Rating: PG-13

Humans ruined everything. If it wasn't for them... [He stops, shakes his head with a scowl. He's done talking, and the fire flares up higher between his fingers.]

[Naoki's eyes change and he frowns, fire in his hands flaring up brighter.] ...what are you doing?

[She still continues on, not caring as she felt the heat of that fire when she paused in front of him.] Naoki...

[A wary growl rises up in his throat and he curls his fingers, all too ready to use the fire on her if she does anything.]

[If this was someone else, she would run. She didn't need to get into anymore trouble, and she already knows she can't win.

But damn, if she hadn't left him alone even for a moment, maybe she could have helped him stay normal. It was partially her responsibility too. In this state, he might hurt someone. Never mind if it's her, or if it was someone else. Naoki wouldn't want it. Ted didn't want it. This was so unfair.]

Naoki, you...

[She clenches her teeth, eyes flaring in annoyance. Fire or no fire, this was pissing her off seriously.]

[Naoki doesn't...really expect the bookbag to the face. Normally, people wouldn't. So, when it connects, he goes stumbling backwards, eyes flaring from red to yellow in an instant as he lets out a squawk that's not at all demonic.

He falls down heavily on the ground, hands to either side of him. Stares up at her, and then lifts a hand up. Winces.]

...Ow.

[Apparently that works well to knock someone into control. Or knock demons out of it.]

[She grins widely at that, smug. Ha! First demon she ever defeated!] Let's get you something to eat now, okay?

[Naoki looks up at her, places his hands on his knees and rises.] Okay.

[Satisfied by the thought that he's back to normal somewhat, she goes back to pick up the grocery bag, content with just pretending the event earlier didn't happen.] I think I brought too much, but it should help for a few more days.

[Naoki walks over after her, demon side effectively under control for now.] I don't think you'll have to worry about it being too much. [A small nod.] Thanks...

No problem. [She digs into it, then hands him an apple.] Maybe I should have gotten more for cooking...

[That apple? Is getting all his attention. Distractedly:] Cooking?

Yeah, just so you have something warm in your belly. [Okay, off to try dragging you back to that tree so you can sit and eat properly.]

[...Naoki sort of feels like a kid as he lets himself get dragged.] Ah. I'm okay with eating this stuff until...things're back to normal.

[Naoki nods and smiles a little.] I will.

[She'll just steal some bread for her own, before handing the bag to Naoki.] It's just a few more days. Do you think you can hang on until then?

[Naoki browses through the bag, making mental notes of how to make this last.] I hope so. [Curling and uncurling a hand now.] If I can't, maybe it'd be best to... [He pauses for a moment.] ...lock me away down in the tunnels or something.
