[...Dozing off even in the winter cold. This should not be surprising. In fact, it isn't surprising, and Albert knows all too well where his brother would be after his knocks on Caesar's bedroom door go unanswered. He heads for the front door and porch, stepping out to get a better look at Caesar.]

You're bound to aggravate your cold at this rate.

[There's a moment before Caesar responds at all. He hears his brother's words, certainly, but for a minute there, he thinks he's dreaming.

When he realizes he isn't, though, he sits right up, turning to look at Albert.]

I-I'm not going to aggravate anything.

[Albert looks decidedly unimpressed by the answer, remaining where he is near the door.] You better not. [He really has little tolerance for people getting sick through their own actions. ...But that isn't why he came out here.]

We need firewood.

[Caesar nods. He didn't plan to get any sicker than he already was.]

Okay. [He moves his head to rest against the railing again. ...and then it occurs to him that Albert was probably telling him this for a reason, so he turns to face him again.] Are you leaving, then?

[His expression doesn't change as he responds.]

No. You are.

[...oh, goddammit. Not again.]

Me?

[He raises a brow at the reaction.]

You're actually surprised?

[...he sighs. Of course he's not surprised.]

No. [He knows you know he'll do it if you ask.] But I don't know anything about this stuff.

And whose fault is that? Shall I point out the axe, or would you like to carry boards from the store?

Wh-what? Why would I need to know about that stuff? [He stands up, and pauses to consider the obviously less important question.] ...they both sound troublesome.

Of course they sound troublesome; they involve doing work. [There's some faint sarcasm in his tone.] Knowing how to gather firewood would be rather useful if the electricity is taken away.

Are you expecting that it will be?

Are you expecting to be safely inside in case of a snowstorm? [What, did you think he was referring to electricity being taken out of the houses? Oh Caesar.]

W-well, yes, but... [He tilts his head. ...he did not realize that electricity could just stop working. This is completely new information.]

The weather has been known to do some strange things. Please tell me you recall the electricity not working when the earthquake struck.

Didn't it? [...hmmm. He shrugs.] I don't recall.

[He really, really doesn't.]

[... ...And yet he can't say he's surprised by this. Why is he trying to justify this action for Caesar, anyway?] Shall I make the decision for you?

[He won't admit it, but he's actually a little embarrassed right now. He knew he had been distracted by what happened to his brother, but not that distracted.]

You mean you haven't already?

...I'll go get the axe for you.

[He shakes his head and reaches for the doorknob, tugging on the door--]

[--and then he stumbles back slightly as the entire door tears off of the hinges.]

[...what did he just—

Is Albert holding the door in his hand.]

Wh... What did you do?

[Albert is so stunned by what just happened that his first reaction is to drop the door he is holding up by the handle. This quickly proves to be a bad idea, by the way the door creaks as it careens towards the floor. He quickly manages to grab the door before it solidly cracks into the floor or something.]

It appears that I am affected by the experiment. [Finally? They were already approaching the end of the week.]

[How is he just...? The door seems as light as a feather with the way Albert is handling it. Caesar had been prepared for weird things once it was obvious that this experiment was a little unusual, but this was not something he was ready for.]

M-maybe...

[He has no idea what else he's supposed to say.]

[Similarly, Albert isn't quite sure what to do with the door. He experimentally lifts it with one hand, eyes widening fractionally as he cracks the door against the door frame, leaving a visible dent in it. In an effort to set aside the door before he does anything else to it, he manages to turn the door sideways and snap the top hinge entirely off as it catches on the dented door frame.

...

And with that, he stops moving, door still in one hand. He might be a little wary of doing anything else right now.]

[All Caesar can do is watch this little scene. He doesn't know what to say, and he doesn't know what to do. He isn't even sure how to feel about this. It was so strange that it was something he might laugh at when he looks back on it. But now?

...]

H-hey... [He takes a step up to the porch.] Maybe you should, uh... Give me that.
