Your characters are shuffling off to their rooms. Each room has their name beside it and only they can open the door. People can only enter their room if they're allowed in (or they leave the door open). Characters will find any requested items in their room already. If they have a requested vehicle, there will be another door in their room that will take them to the hangar to inspect their equipment.

((Mod note: Extra draftees won't experience their Shift Incompatibility handicap in their dorms. :|a))

[Albert goes to the request button, pressing it. A bottle of Kanakan wine appears on his side table.] As well as you would expect. The extra draftees are still an unknown variable.

You wouldn't say otherwise. [He was pretty sure Albert wouldn't admit to anyone, let alone him, if he were having some kind of trouble. Not that he had expected him to have trouble in the first place. He crosses his arms, tilting his head at the comment—he isn't surprised to see Albert's usual requested item appear over on that table.] Seems a little desperate, huh?

They may very well be reacting to the residents' sentiments. You cannot deny that they have been voicing their frustrations a little too loudly.

They always complain. [The last experiment probably hadn't helped.] There's no point in listening to them now.

Indeed. [He frowns as he pours his wine.] You heard about the Third Party's planned assault. They may be measuring just what "Shifting incompatibilities" we can work with in preparation for something like that.

Does it really matter? Any kind of incompatibilities mean trouble for us.

Of course they will mean trouble for us. But you saw it -- "acceptable risk." Whoever sent that announcement believes it is something we can deal with.

I have not seen any of these incompatibilities yet, though.

It's what they believe. That doesn't quite make it true. [He can't help being so skeptical about it.] But I haven't seen them, either. Maybe it'll teach them to complain less, whatever they are.

No, of course not. Thus why this would be a measurement. Why try risking Shifting incompatibilities lower than 70 percent if we cannot deal with them now? [He shakes his head.]

They may not be desperate about us winning this battle, but there are larger battles in the future.

Then it's something they should have tried to measure before, when it would have been a smaller risk to us. You know, when we didn't have to deal with some jerks that could create Shifts out of thin air.

If they expect Shifters out there during the assault -- which they are -- they would need to measure our performance while we are engaging Shifters.

But hypothesizing when we do not know what these incompatibilities are is useless. [More than useless. Unproductive.]

[He was more concerned with being unable to deal with those incompatibilities in the first place. Then again, he only had one of these new draftees to deal with himself, so why did he care? It wouldn't pose much of a problem for him, but...

He shakes his head.]

Right. Anyway... You better take care of yourself, all right? Don't think I won't find out if you do something stupid.

Worrying needlessly again, Caesar? [He sounds ... unimpressed.]

I know. [If he wanted to be a brat, he'd go on about how that doesn't really mean he'd be okay, but that's too much, even for him. And while he's worried, he doesn't think he needs to be that worried anyway.] It's just that I had to remind you that if you do something stupid, I won't forgive you. That's all.

Thank you for the reminder. [He raises a brow at Caesar's idle threat.] If you do something stupid, you will be sleeping outside with your dog.

Because a real threat is much more likely to spur results. [He pauses.] And I'm sure your dog would enjoy the company while it suffers.

But I can't give you a real threat. [There certainly wasn't any way he could make his brother sleep outside with the dog, for example. Probably because Caesar knows he'd no longer be living in that house as a result.] It doesn't matter if he appreciates it or not!

Then perhaps you should stop making the threats to begin with. I understand your sentiments without it.

I suppose you're right. [Caesar walks over to his brother, reaching up to... pat him on the head. That's for your threat.] Reading between the lines and all of that. I forget that you actually can be reasonable sometimes.

[Albert's brow twitches at the pat, and he sighs at Caesar.] You are not getting out of sleeping outside if you do something idiotic.

Serious, huh... [He isn't surprised by this. Not one bit. But it is cruel.] Well, unfortunately for you, I won't have to sleep outside, because I wouldn't do anything that idiotic while I'm out there. After all, I've got some pretty good luck, don't I?
