We are the named and we are known

Who: All Draftees
What: Arriving at the dorms
When: 26th
Where: Dorms, location unknown
Summary: Dorm information is here. This is your room!
Rating: PG... we hope?

Your characters are shuffling off to their rooms. Each room has their name beside it and only they can open the door. People can only enter their room if they're allowed in (or they leave the door open). Characters will find any requested items in their room already. If they have a requested vehicle, there will be another door in their room that will take them to the hangar to inspect their equipment.

((Mod note: Extra draftees won't experience their Shift Incompatibility handicap in their dorms. :|a))

It has proven itself to be very helpful. Perhaps you are not aware, but it landed on some Third Party soldiers while they were attacking Ted and me. It deserves some attention for what it has done. [pause] Especially if it is as you say and I am its "only friend."

[identity profile] mydearapple.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. Recognizing it for its kind and brave deed, then. I had no idea it was so noble. [He sounds amused. Not what he was expecting at all.] Why didn't you just say that in the first place?
chikaidestroyer: (Patiently explaining)

[personal profile] chikaidestroyer 2011-02-27 10:16 am (UTC)(link)
Because I was expecting you to be upset that I had been in a dangerous situation again. [Seriously. They only had the conversation a little while ago.]

[identity profile] mydearapple.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 10:23 am (UTC)(link)
But you got out all right. Not a scratch on you. Right? [He better be right, Albert. He gives his brother a pat on the back.] I guess it's not such a bad owl, then.
chikaidestroyer: (Glance)

[personal profile] chikaidestroyer 2011-02-27 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
[Albert snorts.] I'm glad I have your approval.

[And there's an echoing hoot from the other end of the hanger, followed by the scratching and thumping of the giant bird hopping towards them.]

[identity profile] mydearapple.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 10:36 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh jeez, it's coming near them. Caesar remembers how weird it looked up close.]

Aren't you going to greet it?
chikaidestroyer: (Thoughtful frown)

[personal profile] chikaidestroyer 2011-02-27 10:40 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. [Albert returns to his room to put his wine down, turning some lights on in the hangar before moving over to greet the giant owl. It blinks at him, then begins cleaning its chest feathers.]

[identity profile] mydearapple.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 10:48 am (UTC)(link)
[Caesar watches the owl as Albert goes to put down his glass. He waits until his brother is in the hangar, too, before he decides to approach as well. He's not really interested in interacting with the owl himself, it's just neat to watch.]

Have you ever seen an owl like this before you were drafted?
chikaidestroyer: (Dead inside)

[personal profile] chikaidestroyer 2011-02-27 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
I have not, no. [He reaches out to pat the edge of the giant owl's wing, and the owl doesn't twitch away or anything.] Just sketches from books I used to read.

[identity profile] mydearapple.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. [He's kind of impressed to see that. It's as if the owl is just as comfortable around Albert as Albert is around the owl.] I guess that's one thing these things are useful for. Seeing things you've never seen before.
chikaidestroyer: (Patiently explaining)

[personal profile] chikaidestroyer 2011-02-27 11:34 am (UTC)(link)
That was why I requested one in the first place, back then. Testing limitations. [He steps away as tufts of feathers fall down.] Fortunately, this one didn't seem too wild. So perhaps someone had domesticated it.

There's still many facilities we don't know about. Such as these farmlands. How many would have thought that all of the food we were provided could have come from a place like where we are going?

[identity profile] mydearapple.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 11:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Still an odd choice, he thought. But after learning how the owl had helped Albert out, and learning that the owl had some kind of importance to him, Caesar doesn't say anything else about it.]

Certainly not me. These places have all been so different, too. It's hard to believe all this stuff is out there when we've been stuck in that stupid village for so long.
chikaidestroyer: (Glance through a fringe)

[personal profile] chikaidestroyer 2011-02-27 12:01 pm (UTC)(link)
There's an entire world out here from which we are separated. One that we are not allowed to learn about. [And there's only so much he is willing to risk saying in an Organization-maintained dorm.] Such is our situation, unfortunately.

[identity profile] mydearapple.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately. [Even if the circumstances were a bit different, it wasn't something Caesar would press. Not before a battle, at least. He gestures toward the owl.] So this guy's gonna keep you company while you work, huh?
chikaidestroyer: (Contemplative)

[personal profile] chikaidestroyer 2011-02-27 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
For awhile, yes. Just what time I am willing to spare. [A glance up.] I may send him out once we have thinned out the troops. See I can coax him to be something of a scout.

[identity profile] mydearapple.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 12:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Why not try for something a little smaller? [He gives the owl a look. These animals were trained to be put on the battlefield often, but...] Even with the enemy troops thinned out, this guy would still be a real target.
chikaidestroyer: (Bored glance)

[personal profile] chikaidestroyer 2011-02-27 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Shall I? [He looks thoughtfully at the owl, then heads back towards his room for a moment. He presses the button.

Caesar may feel pigeon-like talons on his hair as a new bird perches on his head.]
Edited 2011-02-27 13:23 (UTC)

[identity profile] mydearapple.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[...that is a lot more painful than an itch.]

Wh-what the— [Caesar immediately reaches a hand up, trying to swat away whatever the heck is suddenly in his hair.] You jerk!
chikaidestroyer: (Ahem...)

[personal profile] chikaidestroyer 2011-02-27 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[The bird seems to mock Caesar by echoing "You jerk!" on top of his head. Albert pops his head back into the hangar, smirks, and then heads back down to join Caesar.]

That was quick.

[identity profile] mydearapple.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Sh-shut up, you. [That's directed at the bird more than it is Albert. Get out of his hair, man.] What did you expect?
chikaidestroyer: (Thoughtful frown)

[personal profile] chikaidestroyer 2011-02-28 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
I wasn't expecting it to land on you. [But since Albert is fortunately taller than Caesar, he can offer his protected arm for the bird to perch on. It's a plain-looking bird, no bigger than a large pigeon, with brown feathers and a small crest on top of its head.

You know, like that plain-looking bird that Nash might have been seen with once in awhile.]
Edited 2011-02-28 05:53 (UTC)

[identity profile] mydearapple.livejournal.com 2011-02-28 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Sure. [Caesar shakes his head quickly once the bird is out of his hair, and he turns to look at it as it sits on his brother's arm. It does look sort of familiar despite how plain it is.] This should work better. It's smaller, and so is the risk.
chikaidestroyer: (Default)

[personal profile] chikaidestroyer 2011-02-28 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
[...The bird cocks its head at Caesar and then says "You jerk!" again. Albert sighs, realizing Caesar's already made an impression on it.] Of course. Such is their normal purpose.

[But he doesn't want the giant owl to get bored. Maybe he should just send it back.]

[identity profile] mydearapple.livejournal.com 2011-02-28 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
[Caesar frowns at the bird.]

Didn't I tell you to shut up? [He does not like this bird. He gestures toward the giant owl as he looks up at his brother.] At least that one's quieter.
chikaidestroyer: (Possibly inattentive)

[personal profile] chikaidestroyer 2011-02-28 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
This one can be quiet, too. [He gives the nasel bird a look, and it just sits there.] They can usually keep quiet very well.

[...And then he seems to realize.] Unless this one was not trained.
