Your characters are shuffling off to their rooms. Each room has their name beside it and only they can open the door. People can only enter their room if they're allowed in (or they leave the door open). Characters will find any requested items in their room already. If they have a requested vehicle, there will be another door in their room that will take them to the hangar to inspect their equipment.

((Mod note: Extra draftees won't experience their Shift Incompatibility handicap in their dorms. :|a))

You shouldn't have held your hands up if you wanted her not to see those tremors.]

Shikamaru... [She steps forward and tugs on one of his elbows, trying to free his hand for her inspection.] Let me see.

[Concern is so much easier than dealing with gratitude for killing people.]

[He figured he'd been quick enough. With a sigh, he lets the tug pull one hand out for inspection. He'll keep it out for a few seconds before moving to put it back.]

It's not that big of a deal. I'm just tired.

So tired you're shaking? You need to get to your room and lay down. In fact-

[What with Yuber randomly in the halls.]

-I'll go with you. [And she grabs her waterskin and steps outside.] I should check in on Sokka one more time anyway.

[...wait, wait, wait - whut now?]

Oi, oi. Not so tired that I need to be escorted! [...by a girl. Sob.]

[Oh, fine, see through her flimsy pretense. Katara's fine with dropping it anyway.]

Maybe not. But I'd like to take a look and see if I can do anything to help anyway [because the fact that you are still shaking is clearly not normal exhaustion]. And if I can't then you're better off in your room than mine.

[Don't try to argue, she's already in the hallway.]

Tch. Fine, fine; do as you please. Cripes, I was just trying to deliver a simple thank you.

[Yes, he is sulking. But there's no stopping women when they're like this and he knows it. So. He'll just start on down the hall then, several paces ahead because it makes him feel better.]

[A small smile.] You didn't need to thank me for that anyway.

...have you eaten yet?

I had a ration bar before the meeting.

[And she frowns.] You need more than that. You need to take care of yourself.

[No dying because of being stupid, please.]

Hey, ration bars have a good balance of all of the nutrients you need in a day. Just because they taste like shit doesn't mean you're any worse off eating them over an actual meal. Saves time, too.

That sounds very impressive. [Skeptical Katara is skeptical. And also not arguing in the hallways. They should be near to his doorway by now.] Maybe we can order the recipe and take it back to show Sanji, and see what he thinks.

[He opens the door.] Sanji's a chef. The stuff he serves has to taste good.

[Difference, see! But he's too tired to argue his point much more seriously as he steps into his room, leaving the door open for Katara to follow.]

That doesn't mean he won't be able to tell if something smaller than a brick is actually as good for you as a whole meal. [What is this 'science' of which you speak? Katara's instincts are still of a world far more primitive than your own, Shikamaru.

And she shuts the door behind her, glancing around his room.]

[Not much in it. Bed, bathroom, lamp, desk. All he's requested for himself are weapons, and the ones he didn't bring with him today are lying neatly arranged on the desk.

He shrugs out of his flak jacket, dropping it into a corner of the room.]

When I said I was tired, I wasn't talking about the typical type of exhaustion, by the way. Again, it really isn't that big of a deal.

[Ha! She knew something was wrong.]

What do you mean, 'not typical?'

I'm just low on chakra. Battles in my world usually go a lot quicker than the ones we had today. [Maybe it'll be different, now that his own world is going to war. For now it's true, though.]

My stamina kinda sucks to begin with [for a ninja, anyways], but my jutsus take up chakra on top of that. Today it just took more than I'm used to handling at one time.

[...an idea begins to form.]

You said chakra was like chi, right? Let me take a look.

[Another sigh, like this is the most troublesome thing ever. But he offers his hand again.]

[...she doesn't take it.]

You can sit down, Shikamaru. It'll be a minute.

[Froooown. But he takes a seat on the edge of the bed.

...he will just bathe before they go out again, then. S'not like he's worried about the Malnosso housekeeper turning up her nose at smelly bedding.]

[Honestly, you'd think that she was the dentist with the way you're scowling at her - this isn't going to hurt at all. It will feel relaxing, soothing, and like moonlight on a clear winter's evening.

She places her watercoated hand on his and his chi pathways light up to her senses as the water in her hand begins to glow. It's... like Chouji's, but unlike his at the same time. The pathways... they're not as deep, though she can clearly see where the chi has been depleted - and that concerns her, but without the urgency of a mallynap she can poke around and see that it's a strain that his body is accustomed to - and accommodates itself around.

There are a few things she can do - adjust the flow here, tweak that there, encourage it to flow further and faster and yes, it begins to respond even at that.]

[He hates being fussed over. It's why it's rare for him to take an injury more serious than chakra depletion on his missions.

That said, like any ninja, he's very conscious of his chakra's behavior in his own body. Shikamaru watches what she's doing in interest, as he did when she did this for Chouji, though he's focused more on what's happening internally.

It's different. Katara's methods aren't quite the same as Ino's or Sakura's; she's not so much molding it to do what it needs to do for him as she is guiding it. The effect is similar, however.]

You'd make a good mednin.

[Katara is not normally one to encourage being spoken too when she's handling a person's lifeforce, but in this case - it's not as if there are any injuries.

And she's curious - the chi system is so well... responsive. She wonders if she can help it even further if she tries... hmm... yeah, that seems like it's working too. Still, if she's going to restore his whole system it will take a little while.]

What's a mednin?

They're ninjas practiced in medical jutsu. One of my teammates, Ino, is one. What you're doing now is kinda similar to what she does.

[Yeah, he can definitely feel the strain on his system wearing away now. The solider pills kept him going throughout the day, but in the end he still ended up pushing himself about three times as hard as he usually would.

The soreness is what had been keeping him upright once they stepped back into the dorms. Now that his chakra circulatory system is being encouraged not to keep pushing itself into overdrive, it's natural system for repairing itself is falling back in place. IE. Now he really is tired, and he's feeling that tug to rest and recover much more acutely.]

[Okay, what she can 'see' now appears to be restoring itself at a normal - if slightly accelerated rate. And she's pretty sure that if she leaves right now and lets him get some sleep he'll wake up fine. But he'll have spent the night restoring his chi, and that's more healing than rest...

And she is interested in what he has to say. But. Mrr.]

That sounds interesting. Chouji told me a little bit about Ino - I'm glad you guys have someone who can heal on your team.

[Her mind is clearly somewhere not entirely on her words. She withdraws her hand.]

You should be back to normal after you sleep now. But I have an idea if you'll let me try it.
