Your characters are shuffling off to their rooms. Each room has their name beside it and only they can open the door. People can only enter their room if they're allowed in (or they leave the door open). Characters will find any requested items in their room already. If they have a requested vehicle, there will be another door in their room that will take them to the hangar to inspect their equipment.

[If Katara was a little bit older and a hell of a lot more manipulative, now would be the perfect time to fake!seduce him so that he suddenly has to put his money where his mouth is... or end up sputtering out a Big Reveal.

As it is, though, she's Katara. And she just clasps her hands together and leans forward a little.]

If I didn't trust you, I wouldn't have come. [Not 'in here' but 'to see you at all.'] And my friends trust me enough to believe what I say. I can stop in to check in on a friend.

So how are you?

[Friends.

...Damn friends. He sighs, shaking his head, and then allows his bangs to get in his eyes a little, bowing himself a bit]

Eeeh... I'll be fine. [He's just scared, right? He won't freeze he won't freeze]

When we get there, I'll be okay.

[...ah.

And then she nods, one hand slowly going behind her.]

Waiting's the worst. It would be a lot easier if we didn't have all this time to think beforehand. But you know what? I think you're right. You will be okay. Know why?

[Someone has confidence in him? He arches an eyebrow, looking up at her at much the same time]

[She is now chucking a small pillow at you as hard and fast as she can.]

Think fast!

[Woman he is paranoid right now. On instinct, he catches the pillow, cocks his arm back, and throws it right back towards her head. Probably... harder than she did because he's a ball of nerves right now]

[Okay, unexpected - but she's still able to dodge out of the way from her seated position fast enough for it to go whirring past her head. And she grins at him as she does.]

[And then, straightening up and her grin fades into something smaller but more earnest.]

You've got good instincts. Once we get out there, you won't have to worry as much about anything. Because just like that pillow, they'll be coming at you. And I don't think you'll just sit there and let them, any more than you'd let me hit you in the head with the pillow right now.

[As soon as he realizes where he is a "sorry" starts to form until he sees the grin. Then, in spite of himself, he grins back himself]

Eeeh~ Well, that assumes Shikamaru-kun puts me somewhere I'll be targeted.

[This is... a way to dig for more on Shikamaru. He didn't get all the details from the meeting, but he senses she knows him]

[Katara shakes her head.] Even a strategist as good as Shikamaru can't plan for everything, even if he tried to put you someplace hidden. As soon as one of the soldiers see you, they'll come after you.

[...not, perhaps, what you wanted to hear. But it's evident, at least, that she does know him.]

Oooh. So he's reliable, is he? [He's trying to keep his tone blase, but given that he leans up against the bedpost here and puts on a far too innocent tone, the distrust directed at him (or at least questioning) is palpable here]

[Oh, so that's what this is about. Well, Katara doesn't blame him - especially after Shikamaru used that justu. And 'General' certainly implies that he was the one planning things back home...

Fortunately, this is not the kind of information Katara minds sharing. She'll vouch for a friend any time she can and can mean it.]

Shikamaru is a good friend of mine. [Note: Not just a friend, a good friend. Even with Katara, there is a difference - and mostly it's on levels of trust. She has a lot of friends, a few good friends and then there is the rare 'really good friend.'] He's smart and competent - and this isn't the first time he's done stuff like this. He, Chouji, and Temari have all trained to be ninja in their world, and from what I've seen... that's pretty intense.

I've never seen the other two fight, but I know that Shikamaru is very strong. [Seeing as she and Shikamaru have also 'sparred'... But she's hesitant to bring this up for some reason, even though Masaomi saw a demonstration of Shikamaru's skills tonight. It's probably because she lost.]

And I think he's a really good person too. I know that jutsu he used on you tonight is scary [and reminds her far too much of bloodbending for her to ever, ever be comfortable with it]. But I trust him. [Which is part of why she didn't do anything tonight when you were trying your hardest to get Temari to attack you.] I know he'll do his best to make sure we're all in the best places for us tomorrow.

[ETA: ...since this is Kida, it's worthwhile to add that Katara looks very relaxed and confident as she's talking about this, even though it's still something well-thought out and considered, it's obvious that she's fond of Shikamaru as well.]

[...Good, she played into it. His face goes into a lineface for a while, processing both what she said and - more important to him, really - how she said it. He's not in-tune to her wordings and he's not nearly perceptive enough to pick up on what is and isn't said and what the meaning might be. But he is a people person and he is observant and this is Katara. It's hard to deny her sincerity here, so that means- Well, that maybe he can trust Shikamaru too, despite that horrifying shadow thing.

Finally, after a brief pause after she finishes, he nods]

Eeeh~ You seem to be fond of Shikamaru-kun.

[He probably. Intended for that to be leading but it doesn't come off as such due to his lack of gusto what with still being a little lost in his thoughts.

[It's interesting - watching his face fall flat again. She'd not seen that expression on him before, not really, and it takes a moment for her to associate it with him - and she can't help but wonder how many times he's made that face before, but just not let her see.

That thought is gone in a flash, and barely remembered, however, when he speaks. And it... makes her the slightest touch uncomfortable. Not because of Shikamaru, but because of Chouji. Her gaze drops from his and darts to the side for a moment as she recalls some event!memories before it returns, a bit wryly, to his. She shrugs.]

He's a good friend.

[So yes, of course she's fond of him.]

Ooooh.... Fond, are we?

[And he grins even more, looking at her reaction and thus draws an incorrect conclusion. Or at least... pretends to. But he puts a hand below his chin and nods]

Fond, hmm?

[And blushing. So much blushing. Because just - no.

...she's a bit glad, though, to see him return to this. She'll be gladder, of course, when he immediately drops the topic at her calm and reasonable denial.]

[Dude, you are asking more questions than her own brother, and even though part of her would really like to confide in someone, the fact of the matter is that they're in the middle of a war.]
