[and she disappears.

It's not fifteen minutes before she has to leave a message for Raine through the journal.]

Small problem.

[She hadn't been expecting to hear from Sheena so soon. She had started to move back toward some of the others, getting in some spells while she could, but it's a few more minutes before she responds to Sheena's ping without fear of issue.]

Where?

Maybe half a mile from where I saw you last. I went in pretty much a straight line.

[wise_maiden]

Understood.

[And she's on it. She has to move slowly and carefully to avoid enemies. Especially since Sheena didn't specify what kind of trouble.

It should make itself clear in due time.]

[corrinesbell]

[Sheena's not going anywhere.

Watch out for that loose ground at the edge of the pit. Don't want to fall in yourself.]

[wise_maiden]

[... Oh.

... Just like old times?

I fought one of them off and stepped backward into this thing.

[wise_maiden]

... Hang on. I'll get rope. [At least, hopefully the rope she has in her pack works. She'll find a good tree root to tie it against, before throwing the coils in toward Sheena.]

[corrinesbell]

[The pit is deep and narrow, but she manages not to get beaned by flying coils of rope. When she takes hold and starts to climb up, there's a definite grimace on her face]

Maybe if you pull too this'll go faster.

[wise_maiden]

I'll try. Just keep a steady pace with me. [Maybe both of them having exspheres will help... Raine's not strong, but at least she and Sheena are roughly the same height and weight...]

[She's making the face because she can't do it without help. One leg isn't performing to standard.

But she'll make it. Even if it means at the end she just hauls herself up over the edge with her arms, panting from the effort necessary in the heavy air]

[wise_maiden]

[That's true. The fact that Sheena needed help to get out of that trap... Raine moves closer once she's safely out of the hole.]

Were you hurt?

[Now that she thinks of it, Sheena's been in a few battles by now, without any healing. So maybe...]

Yeah. [she turns, and with a soft thud she's sitting with one leg stretched out in front of her instead of trying to breathe while on her hands and knees. There is an angry cut on the back of that leg, one that already looks unpleasant]

I think he had...ugh. [hang on, wiping hair out of her face. This is disgusting.] I think there was venom on the knife, maybe. My leg's going numb. And I'm just...worn out.

[wise_maiden]

All right. ... Drink some water; I'll see what I can do.

[She feels an odd compulsion to want to use the Filial magic in this situation... but no. No. That would be dangerous. Her own arts were at full power, so with the right combination of spells (and medical supplies in her kit), she could treat that wound and hopefully prevent against infection. She frowns, trying to check how deep that wound goes... it would definitely need bandaging and cleaning before she started on her spells. Recover and first aid would round it off nicely.

Hopefully they wouldn't be interrupted. It wouldn't take long.]

[It would be just Sheena's luck to be out of water, on top of everything else.

She isn't, though. Trying not to drink it all at once should be enough of a distraction from Raine having to use traditional first aid. For a while. If she doesn't fidget then there's less of a chance this will end up slowing her down. At least she's trying her best to sit still and didn't try to keep it a secret.

It's deeper than a surface scratch, but certainly not enough to keep her from walking or anything like that.]

[Eventually, she gets to casting the spells. She hopes that the magic won't draw too much attention. It's a relief to be at full power--while she knows her magic even here isn't guaranteed, there's still a much larger chance of it working than if they were in the barrier.]

Thanks. That's a lot better. ...I think I still need a minute though.

[Just to sit. And, since it's Raine, not have to worry about thinking every waking second about where danger might be coming from]

[Raine will be keeping alert as best as she can while Sheena uses the time to recover. She needs a sip of her own water as well after the casting, but it's not too much of a distraction.]

[corrinesbell]

I'll try to be more careful. But he came outta nowhere.

[looking over at her with just the slightest bit of uncertainty] Do I need help getting up?

[wise_maiden]

Is your leg still numb? [She'll probably help her though-- well first she moves to retrieve the rope. Not something to leave around.]

[corrinesbell]

It feels more like it fell asleep now. [that awful pins-and-needles feeling. Even though it's an improvement.]

[wise_maiden]

Ah... I suppose that's just the sensation returning. Here, I'll help you get up so you can walk on it.

[corrinesbell]

Yeah, okay.

[Taking the hand Raine offers, and only needing to lean a little bit at first. It's tingly still, returning to normal very quickly.]
