1st Day!

[Dhaos is fending off an ambush at the moment. Normally he would have seen or heard it a mile away, but with the enormous headache plaguing him his concentration isn't at its best. There are an awful lot and he has his normally seldom-seen wings out-- he won't have to deal with physical attacks that way, at least, save the break in concentration if one connects. He's hurling his magic around and taking people down like no one's business, but suddenly

everything

stops.

Literally. The entire world goes grey, and before Dhaos can figure it out through his headache he's finished his spell and--]

Judgment!

[...Nothing happens, until the grey disappears. And that's when the huge beams of light rain down-- except some of the soldiers seem to be falling without his help...?

Dhaos has a Shift Incompatibility and is a little slow on the uptake the first time, but Homura is free to give him a second chance/hear him clearly not being frozen in time while she's shooting people.]

[......

There was a shout in the gray area. She couldn't pinpoint the person with the voice, but it was there and she was sure of it. Someone immune to her time magic and it could be anyone of the people fighting around her. Damn.

She sighed. There was no need to worry. They could make their own judgments, even if they did happen to see her. However, it certainly won't stop her from continuing. She has no time to worry about other people knowing she uses magic. There are enemies coming at them from different directions and using guerrilla warfare. If they aren't stopped they can retreat and continue on.

So, several seconds after the end of the first time freeze, Homura will reactivate her shield and pull the area into a noticeable gray zone. This time she'll quickly go deeper into the wave and prepare a couple grenades to quickly wipe out other incoming forces.]

[Dhaos' spell just barely ends before the grey returns again, and this time one glance is all it takes to tell him what has happened. Time really has stopped: the Third Party soldiers aren't moving a muscle. Instead of taking the time to use one of his more powerful spells, the seraph shoots into the sky and listens carefully for any sign of movement.

By the time he catches the sound of footsteps, he's well aware that whatever spell being used is likely to run out soon; he fires off a quick spell in the general direction of the noise, hoping to at least identify the person responsible.]

Lightning!

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-06-04 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[Once Homura hears that same voice yelling, she knows for sure someone is in here with her. She doesn't have much time to think after that as she sees a bolt of lightning hurling toward her. It won't make any real impact until after the time stop ends, but regardless she moves out of the way. And just as time restarts and the bolt manages to hit some nearby soldiers.

Why? Why is someone not being affected. Were there really other people in Luceti who were immune to her power. She grits her teeth and looks above from where the bolt was fired, when she notices something in the sky. Or someone.]

[personal profile] whatdeheckisdat 2011-06-04 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[Dhaos catches a glimpse of Homura as she moves out of the way, and after a moment of thought recognizes her as a girl he'd spoken to over the journals. She appears to be aware of his presence now, so he deactivates his levitation and drops to the ground. His palm impacts first:]

Dhaos Collider!

[And a dome-shaped shockwave shoots out in all directions. It shouldn't hurt Homura, but it should at the very least knock the remaining soldiers off their feet long enough to make putting them out of commission much easier.]

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-06-05 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
[Regardless Homura quickly jumps as the shockwave shoots out, watching the soldiers fall from the blast instead. Once she lands she turns to Dhaos, not yet restarting the mechanism in her shield, staring him down cautiously. How was he still moving in her gray area. No one should be able to enter the time stop field unless they are physically in contact with her.]

[personal profile] whatdeheckisdat 2011-06-05 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Dhaos slowly straightens, turning to face Homura as well. Though he isn't flying anymore, he keeps the translucent, emerald wings he'd been born with out: he has long since discovered that he is immune to time magic while using them, and he did not want to be caught unawares by putting them away.]

...That is a very interesting power for a human to have.

[In fact, in his experience, humans could not use magic at all. But he is well aware that the rules of the other villagers rarely matched his own.]

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-06-05 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
...It would be an interesting power for a human to have. If I was human.

[She says calmly, turning around and preparing to go off again if he didn't have anything else to say.]
whatdeheckisdat: (superior)

[personal profile] whatdeheckisdat 2011-06-05 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[An interesting remark. Dhaos is willing to bet this was some result of the 'contract' this girl had apparently signed, but that was beside the point. He closes his eyes, and after a moment of delay to allow the spell to gather between his hands, time stops. Dhaos uses the few seconds he has to put himself back in front of Homura by the time the spell ends.]

Then what are you?

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-06-06 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
[Homura instinctively steps back when he suddenly appears in front of her, a bit shocked. He...used time magic too, didn't he.]

I am a Puella Magi.
whatdeheckisdat: (laser tiemz)

[personal profile] whatdeheckisdat 2011-06-06 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
[After the restrictions on their powers in the village, using his magic to its full extent is oddly satisfying.

Puella Magi. He's never heard of one, though that is less than surprising given the sheer number of worlds represented by Luceti's residents.]

Puella Magi. Do they all possess powers like yours?

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-06-06 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Possibly. I don't bother to look for how many exist back home.

[She walks around him and glances at the current area. No enemies yet, but a new wave may come soon.]

I have little time to explain myself to you. Not that I have much desire to begin with.
whatdeheckisdat: (comprehension)

[personal profile] whatdeheckisdat 2011-06-08 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[Dhaos doesn't follow her, instead speaking without turning around.]

One last question, then. Can you time-travel as well?

[Dhaos used to be able to, but then the Heroes of Eternity appeared... He knows Homura wouldn't care, but if there was anyone else in Luceti who could time travel he wanted to know about it.]

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-06-08 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[She shakes her head.]

I cannot. Stopping time momentarily is the extent of my capabilities.

[It was a lie, but her pokerface could hopefully come through for her in this. She didn't want people to know about that. There was no reason for them to know and it wasn't like she could use it here. In that sense it wasn't even that much of a lie - she couldn't time travel anymore at least.]
whatdeheckisdat: (laser tiemz)

[personal profile] whatdeheckisdat 2011-06-10 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
[Fortunately for her, Dhaos is perfectly willing to believe that poker face. His time travel takes a terrible amount of energy, and this girl did not look to him like someone who could survive it. Surely there were other ways to time-travel, but it was not an ability commonly found... Stopping time was much easier.]

You can stop it much longer than most with the ability, however. [Just an observation. Dhaos' time stop wouldn't last half that length.]

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
At the cost of more magical energy. But, they seem to be very gracious about that. My energy rarely goes down too low and replenishes itself within hours after extensive use.

[Extensive being what she is doing right now. She'll likely collapse in a few hours at this rate, but she'll keep going until that moment as far as she is concerned.]
whatdeheckisdat: (blank)

[personal profile] whatdeheckisdat 2011-06-14 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
That is one good thing about this business. [Dhaos was rather tired of collapsing from mana deprivation and being unable to recover because the mana levels were so low.]

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-06-17 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Its a messy business, but if we can protect the village from these attackers then I don't mind dirtying my hands. [Fighting Witches was a bit easier, because they were more distant threats, but that didn't matter. A threat was a threat. She could grieve and hate herself later for all the blood that she shed.] I'm sure you have been fairing well in this battle.
whatdeheckisdat: (angryface)

[personal profile] whatdeheckisdat 2011-06-17 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Dhaos is a full grown man who has killed to protect before, and doesn't really care about the villagers, but he understands. Some things are worth throwing away for others.] I would be fairing better without this infernal headache.

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-06-17 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Headache? [Okay her frown deepens a lot.] Why are you fighting if you have a headache?
whatdeheckisdat: (comprehension)

[personal profile] whatdeheckisdat 2011-06-18 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
It could be worse. I may not be at full strength, but that will not stop my enemies from attacking.

[And the alternative was waiting the day out back at the base, with humans.]

[identity profile] chronica.livejournal.com 2011-06-19 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[She stays silent for a moment, wondering if he's an idiot or a brave man for stepping out into a war zone with such ailments that could cloud his thinking.]

I see. If you insist that you will be alright, then I won't say anymore on it.
whatdeheckisdat: (Default)

[personal profile] whatdeheckisdat 2011-06-23 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[And cloud his thinking it does. But he's more than confident in his abilities, and while he's still likely to get hurt he'd rather suffer that than the consequences if he loses his temper around others.

If there is anything remotely resembling concern in Homura's voice, Dhaos doesn't catch it.]
I have gone to battle under worse conditions.
