Buffy Summers asked Jack Sparrow to meet her at the battle dome. It was a plan that had been discussed before the pirate had disappeared and now that he was back? Well -- she cared very little for dawdling. They had dawdled before but now was the time for seizing. She had yet to overcome the horror of waking up alone for yet another morning when she had expected to be the furthest thing from it.

People change. And Buffy mused quietly upon the changes to be found in Jack as she waited just outside the dome's entrance. She had a bag-o-weapons at her feet and a plastic bottle filled with some sort of over-sugared juice in her hand.

"...So I have a lot of excess feelings to work off. That's all."

Things to hit and smash and cut also helped in Dawn's absence. She reached up to touch his wrist and felt a creeping self-consciousness. "But I promise the time gets even gooder."

[all7seas]

Sparrow waggled his eyebrows suggestively and jerked his head in the general direction of the back seat of the car. Yes?

"Not those kinds of feelings, Romeo. Besides -- don't you think it's a little...y'know? Not the right place for what your eyebrows are currently suggesting?"

[all7seas]

"There's such a thing as a wrong place?"

Just drag him off, Buffy. Arguing is useless.

[herotypical]

"When that place is the place where everyone comes to train and I'm pretty sure the doors don't lock and did you know that there are actually viewing windows up above for people to play spectator? Wrong. Place."

She began to walk.

"OH. Right. Battle Dome." He looked regretfully at the car before following her. "Viewing Windows were not a very brilliant idea in this place, were they? How are people meant to get their privacy?"

[herotypical]

"...I'm kinda guessing that your average person doesn't use the place for dating."

Fine, fine. They could go visit the car again later. Or possibly a different car. Somewhere with fewer buildings to run into.

[all7seas]

"This town is ever so much more bigger than those where I'm from." He stared off down a sidestreet running perpendicular to the one they were on. "But not so boxed in as London is."

[herotypical]

"And this is pretty small compared to LA. They've got skyscrapers, there."

The street-lamps bathed everything in a yellowish glow as the town centre gave way to more residential housing.

[all7seas]

"Skyscrapers?" A questioning tone, but Jack wasn't too interested at the moment in an explanation. He was too busy staring at those street lamps. "But no one's lit them! Oh. 'Lectricity..."

[herotypical]

"Buildings," was the only explanation she gave. "And welcome to the century of modcons. I know we've been plugged into the grid in Luceti for as long as you've been there, but it's nothing like here. There are power lines and phone lines and cable lines and internet lines. I don't even know the first thing about how it all works. But it works."

"All mysteries solved in this place, eh?

...Do you have any maps at your house, Buffy?" Because now he very much wanted to see how far the edges of the map had been pushed.

[herotypical]

"Sure. I think there's an old atlas. Unless you mean of the town, in which case I've got the schematics for the sewer systems and most of the public buildings on file."

Willow, you magnificent hacker.

[all7seas]

"...Of the world. I want to see the state of the world, Annie." Towns had always been small potatoes to Jack Sparrow. His vistas were set on an international scale--and, even larger, on a super-national one. The high seas, open horizons, none of these straight lines and tidy corners.

And that was when the vampire launched itself on them both from a nearby alleyway.

"Okay -- you know what's really cramping my style?" Buffy asked of this new vampire as she reacted first with a sharp but hastily aimed side-kick. It caught him by the gut but the demon only stumbled. "You sim-fangs don't give me that super satisfying vamp alert feeling." Why yes, she was speaking to the fake vampire. It always calmed her down to banter with the enemy. This one, however, would not respond. "Realistically? I should be able to feel you guys before you even show up. It's really throwing one big wrench in these date works, this way. And I don't appreciate that."

She latched a grip onto the vampire's shoulder and spun him about -- shoving him hard at the pirate. Stake him, Jack. That was the message she was sending. Find the heart and don't hesitate. She had used a similar method when taking Dawn on patrol. Shoving the other person into the deep end.

"ANNIE---"

That yell was cut off as the vampire came spiraling toward him. Jack fumbled with the stake at his belt. It was so much easier to go for the pistol.

With a vampire's fangs bearing down on his neck, though, the fumbling stopped and survival instincts kicked in. Jack lunged for it with the stake she had given him.

Then? The pirate was sneezing. A fine dust coated his front, the stake still held before him in a tight fist. Gone. It was over so quickly.

"....Never knew they'd go up your nose like that."

[herotypical]

It had been a little bit of a dick move, given Jack's poor history with vampires. But it was how she taught the girls back home -- in fact, she had once locked them in a crypt with a nest of vamps before they had ever gained their slayer advantages. And Buffy knew the benefits of even a cheater's victory when it came to washing away a bit of the trauma.

"You learn to not breath in when they dust. Or -- I did. 'Cause it's pretty gross."

A smile. A dusting was no big thing to Buffy Summers but teaching the girls had also taught her something else. Pride? Pride was important.

"A little warning next time might be appreciated, Buffy. Possibly. Maybe." He sneezed again and brushed off the front of his shirt, fussing with it. He did hate vampires, undead or dust, especially now that this one was all over him.

[herotypical]

"Some warning would be delightful, but didn't you hear? I'm not getting any either. So welcome to the club."

Buffy approached and began her own version of fussing -- efficiently brushing the dust off his shoulders. "You did good, though. Better than my first time."

[all7seas]

"You're the slayer," he complained, though he was rather basking in that attention. "And I've done my fair share of fighting the undead, Buffy, even if it's not vampires. Plenty of zombies, recently."

[herotypical]

"I missed the heart. My first time? I missed the heart."

Buffy flicked the last spec of dust away and switched easily to shop-talk as she took Jack's arm and continued to lead him down the street. "Decapitation, right? For zombies."

[all7seas]

"Mostly? We just tied 'em to the mast." This was better: arm-in-arm was far more romantical, after all. "Barbossa's cursed crew were a bit more difficult to manage. They just came back, no matter how much beheading occurred. There wasn't a way to kill them until the curse was ended."

"Were these the flesh-eating kind of zombies or the the other kind of zombies?"
