I see the bad moon rising / I see trouble on the way

Who: Everyone!
What: There are these crazy masks everywhere, you see. And does the moon look strange to you?
When: The 23rd through the 30th. (If you want to backdate a thread in here to the 22nd for some reason, feel free. A separate log for the day of Halloween will go up at a later date!)
Where: Everywhere!
Summary: Things are starting to get a little spooky around here. What with masks that range from silly to creepy to downright menacing turning up everywhere, the people wearing them beginning to act strangely, and that menacing moon looking down.... why, it's starting to feel a little like Halloween.
Rating: Anywhere from G to hard R for violence, I'd imagine.

[In normal circumstances, Ginia would have taken his list away from him. Lacking the ability to interact with anything, Ginia settles for getting into his personal space.]

/I know you're stubborn, but I've never taken you for an idiotic fool. You really don't know what you're doing right now./

[Giles looks up at her as she gets closer. Too close. His eyes are cold behind the mask, his tone hard.]

I know ten different ways to banish a ghost using the materials in this aisle.

Back away.

[Ginia stands her ground and stares back at him, her expression matching his.]

/No love for me anymore? I'm wounded./

[He's changed because of the mask, but exactly how remains the question. It's a dangerous game of prodding and pushing, but she'll do it to get the answers she wants.]

You're in the way.

[He walks through her and doesn't look back.]

And you're irritating.

[The joys of being a ghost; no barriers. Ginia floats after him and quickly catches up, reaching out to stroke his cheek.]

/All the days and nights we've spent together and now I'm just irritating? What's happened to the two of us, Rupert?/

[He ducks away, growling when his attempt to smack her hand does absolutely nothing.]

/Temporarily intangible, this can be fixed./

And yet, here you are still intangible and unfixed.

There's no magic that can bring back the dead.

...not unless you're Buffy, I suppose. And even she came back wrong.

[That throws her off her stride.]

/Buffy came back from the dead?/

[No, he didn't, because mentioning that sort of thing is in extremely poor taste. Giles, as he grabs a jar of colored sand off the shelf, sings softly in the distant voice of memory.] "We have to try, we'll pay the price, it's do or die, hey I've died twice..."

[And that's how you tell someone is definitely off; when they begin carelessly dropping information that is hardly his to throw around. At least it's information she won't share with anyone ever.

Ginia moves again, deliberately crossing through him to get to his other side.]

/My god, Giles, you don't even hear what you're saying. Or should I even be calling you Giles anymore? How about something else?/

[She pauses for a moment, grappling for a memory. What he had been called in the Hall of Personas? Oh yes, that's right.]

/Ripper?/

White it's a mostly cinematic chioce, this is really the only appropriate icon...

[He stares at her, taken aback and caught off guard. For a brief second, it's a very him expression.

Then a slow, strange smile spreads over his face, just visible under the mask.]

Childish name for a childish phase.

But I suppose it still fits.

Of course that's my intention. And of course I intend to save everyone.

[Ginia knows she's at a bit of a stalemate; if he tried to do anything, she wouldn't be able to physically stop him. The best she can do is keep him distracted and keep an eye on him.]

[Yet again, in a voice that's almost his own:] It's my home.

[Mask? What mask? Yet again, any mention of the Phanto Mask appears to sail completely over Giles' head.]
