Let 'em say we're crazy, I don't care about that!

Who: Everyone!
What: The final day. Moonfall. Twenty-Four hours remain. How do you spend it?
When: The 30th, all day
Where: Anywhere
Summary: The last day. The end has come. The moon is coming down and piercing the barrier. Nothing can stop it.
Rating: It will vary.

Details are here. But here's a recap and expansion!

By the time morning hits Luceti, the Moon has begun to breach the barrier, noticeable by how the barrier will fluctuate about the Moon's face in strange ribbons of energy. The oceans and lakes begin to rage as they are caught by the Moon's gravity. The ground begins to quake in an unsettling way. Small and harmless tremors that will slowly intensify over the course of the day. With the Moon already partway through the barrier, it will be noticeable that it is not quite as large as the real Moon. Though quite vast, the Moon itself does is not quite the entire size of Luceti, but is large enough to span the entire village and more. The Moon's angered face does not cease for a moment, even as it becomes the only sight in the sky.

Yet it remains in the sky, slowly breaking through the barrier, and proving indestructible in spite of all that is thrown at it. In the evening it will begin to cause gravitational disturbances, drawing up debris and small objects into the air. When it finally reaches midnight, the bottom of the Moon will be one mile above Luceti. At that point, all will suddenly black out and know no more. What becomes of the Moon? Does Luceti go splat? Will CJ finally get his moon rocks? Stay tuned!

There. See? Robert will be terribly distressed if you don't go along, Helios, and so will I.

...but I love her, and as long as I know she isn't safe...

[He sighs, before forcing a brave smile back onto his face.] We'll talk later, Helios. I promise. You'll be all right.

But for now? You have to go, and I have to stay. I have to find Ginia. Until I do, I won't be safe. I won't let myself.

[ Helios is still disoriented and confused about what was happening. Robert's tone of voice and that gripping of his hand distresses him to a point where he looks over at the scientist. The moon was going to fall. ] Robert...I'm not, I'm not going anywhere.

[ Her. Ginia. The smell and sight of a burning bakery flashes before Helios' eyes. He didn't want to go into those tunnels and just... ]

But I-I can't just...I can't just let you go by yourself. What if, what if we don't-- [ A pause, no, it's selfish of him. Giles needs to find Ginia because of what they are to one another. He'd do the same for Elise if she were here and it's not right to keep them away from each other. ]

Please Giles. G-Get underground if, if you can once you find her.

[ Despite what happened a few days ago and the throbbing pain in his hand, and the still lingering bruise on his cheek, finally hitting him to a point where he winces slightly he can't just let Giles do this alone. But there's Robert and, and everyone in the tunnels. There's a sigh of resignation because he knows when Giles makes up his mind there's really no stopping him, is there? ]

[... It's like Ingrid all over again. It's like Ingrid choosing to go off and die, on purpose. Choosing death and freedom over captivity. Giles is choosing death over safety until he finds Ginia.

... As much as it pains him, he can understand that. And so Robert relaxes a fraction, albeit he still shudders as the emotion drains. It hurts anyway, knowing Giles is probably going to die again.

... But...]

... H-Helios... [Softly:] ... I want you to... b-be safe, but...

[... But if Giles is going... maybe Helios wants to, as well. And... and he can't stop them.]

So do I. I'd prefer both of you be safe. At least then when I find her, I can come straight down and join you both.

The moon isn't big enough to hit the entire enclosure. If you can get far enough away, you should be safe for a while.

And I promise. As soon as I find her, we'll both do our best to get underground. But until then? Go on, both of you, and hurry.

But I can't, I can't even help put up a barrier for you if you can't get away. [ He's not even sure what that would accomplish, if anything. And if they were going to die then his barrier would...

Helios sighs shaking his head. This was such a difficult choice leaving Giles like this and going into the tunnels without him. ]
I want you to be safe as well, Giles. It's not...it's not fair to have you go alone. [ But he understands. ] If we worked together we could possibly find her faster too.

[ But he's tired, so very much so, and it shows in his posture and tone of voice. The past two days are blurry and he can't remember much of anything aside from this moment. Does hurting me make you feel better? Helios blinks looking down at the mask again, eyes unfocused slightly. ]

[Robert's fingers twitch as he looks, distressedly, over at the tunnels.] ... I... I c-can't leave Don. I need to get to him. [His voice has a begging undercurrent.] I want you to go with me, H-Helios, but... but I c-can't make you...

[... Part of him knows, as much as he hates to think about it, that in a choice between him and Giles, Helios is going to choose Giles.

So he lets go of Helios' hand, forcing down any tears he has.]

...

... I-It's... it's your choice. [Not his.]

Of course it isn't fair Helios! We passed the point of fair a while back!

[Almost as though to help make his point, and to match Giles' rising temper, the ground beneath them gives another warning shake. Giles fights to catch himself, but his wounded leg gives out and he falls to his knees with a sharp gasp.

Only when the quake subsides does he even attempt to get back up.]
The barrier is cracking, Helios. The barrier is breaking apart. What could you do in comparison to that? And I don't want to die, not again, but I certainly don't want her to die at all. Besides...

[And here, blood be damned, Giles pulls Helios into a soft and careful hug.]

I hope to god you never understand why, but...she might not want you to find her at all.

[ Helios flinches at Giles words almost as if the other has slapped him again. Giles! [ A gasp at the tremor which almost knocks him over as well. He might go to reach for the other but his own fear and trepidation stops him midway. Those memories of what happened a few days ago hitting him like a ton of bricks almost making him fall over himself. Helios is a bit better off than Giles but exhaustion from using all that magic in such short spans of time will do that to you. And he doesn't know why he used it. He sighs as Giles gets back up. The words hurt but he...he knows they're true. What could he do against something like this? ] I-I don't know. I just...I just wanted to try.

[ There's no harm in trying is there? Helios doesn't register the hug at first but when he does his eyes widen and he gasps a little. Giles words send shivers down his spine. And he'll whisper just enough for Giles to hear. ] What...what happened?

[Robert would've gone to help Giles up (as it was, he had difficulty standing), but it's all sudden and he's torn between wanting to run - to leave them, as insane as it is - and wanting to hold them both.

In the end, he makes a little fearful noise and wrings his fingers like old times.

... He doesn't hear what Helios says. He doesn't even know Helios is saying anything. He just knows Helios is being held by Giles and maybe that's the same thing as deciding to stay with him. And the moon is close, so close and Don's all alone, he can't leave him -]

I... I h-have to go, Helios...

... G-Giles... Giles, if he stays... k-keep him safe...

[With that, he'll turn to leave. If nobody stops him, he's going to start running off for the tunnels, as much as it hurts.]

[If Helios stayed? Giles would keep him safe.

But Helios wasn't staying. Giles was convinced, utterly convinced, that that would be the way to keep him safe in this nightmare.

With a softly murmured "sorry", he gives Helios a second or two to get his bearings before shoving him towards Robert. With that, Giles will turn away and try to hurry away.]
