By the time morning hits Luceti, the Moon has begun to breach the barrier, noticeable by how the barrier will fluctuate about the Moon's face in strange ribbons of energy. The oceans and lakes begin to rage as they are caught by the Moon's gravity. The ground begins to quake in an unsettling way. Small and harmless tremors that will slowly intensify over the course of the day. With the Moon already partway through the barrier, it will be noticeable that it is not quite as large as the real Moon. Though quite vast, the Moon itself does is not quite the entire size of Luceti, but is large enough to span the entire village and more. The Moon's angered face does not cease for a moment, even as it becomes the only sight in the sky.

Yet it remains in the sky, slowly breaking through the barrier, and proving indestructible in spite of all that is thrown at it. In the evening it will begin to cause gravitational disturbances, drawing up debris and small objects into the air. When it finally reaches midnight, the bottom of the Moon will be one mile above Luceti. At that point, all will suddenly black out and know no more. What becomes of the Moon? Does Luceti go splat? Will CJ finally get his moon rocks? Stay tuned!

[All's quiet in House 15 and then the rumbling starts. Selphie sits bolt upright in bed, makes a lunge for the kitten and her journal before settling herself quite safely in the doorframe of the closet. When the rumbling finally subsides, Buttons worms her way out of Selphie's shaking arms and hops back up on the girl's bed.

Selphie's just going to stay there in the closet as she curls her legs in close and tries to go back to sleep.]

[Earthquakes she can deal with, they happen sometimes at home and to be honest, it's a little comforting to feel one again. But Kaori knows that that's not the case for most people, and Luceti was no different than her world, judging by the sheer amount of surprise she can feel coming from Selphie's room. They may not be on the best of terms, but... she can be nice and check up on her, right?]

[When the moon starts breaking through the barrier, Cecil's first instinct is to try and teleport to it. To attack it with all his strength. To look around the village for someone, anyone, who might be responsible.

Nothing works, no matter how hard he tries.

Which is why he can be found on his roof, surrounded by the little bright lights he favors, simply watching the moon come down. He almost looks... peaceful, somehow.]

[Kain joins Cecil up there, waiting for a moment when his powers are actually functioning and just leaping up to the roof. He stands there for a long while, staring at the moon as well.]

[Once the ground starts quaking there's little Nodoka can think of doing. I mean, she knows what to do in case of there being an earthquake, but this is the moon crashing into the ground!

Heading to the stairs of the community building, Nodoka huddles down and keeps quiet. Looks as though she's just going to have to wait this terrible course of events out here.]

[There are the sounds of feet coming down from the stairs. Touma will pause for a moment since he's been searching around for people who haven't gone to the tunnels. That would be the safest place to be, right?]

--Fuck! This is getting worst by the minute... [He'll look at his right hand.] I would have to wait before it comes down close enough to try punching it back into the orbit. Even so... Could Imagine Breaker really negate it?

[Well looks like the entire world is going to hell. Seems as though the incident involving the Lunarians back in her world never escalated to the point where the moon crashed into the Earth.

Standing within her garden and just watching the moon press against the barrier. Seems as though her new blooms are going to be flattened, along with herself.

Unfurling her parasol and aiming it up towards the barrier where the moon is starting to break through, Yuuka fires off barrage after barrage of danmaku, and when the danmaku isn't proving effective she moves on to throwing out Master Sparks. Bring it on moon, one of the most powerful youkai in all of Gensokyo isn't going down peacefully.]

[Adell looks up when sees the waves of danmaku heading for the moon... where it's followed by a Master Spark. And then another. ...That has to be Yuuka.

He's not been able to do anything to the moon on his own, but maybe combining their power they might have a shot.

From the other side of the building, Yuuka will no doubt see the rather massive energy blasts aiming for the same points on the moon as her Master Sparks, meeting up and causing even bigger explosions on the surface of the moon.]

[What is the best reaction to the moon sinking lower and lower?

Or so, apparently, is the philosophy of one Stephen Maturin. His Journal is near him, but his journal is in front of him. His curious system-- a mix of several languages further coded-- is out in full force as he writes the notes he's made about the whole situation.

Useless, perhaps, but it makes him feel better to analyse everything from a scientific perspective. Not that there's much science to all this.

Finally, the man sighs, abandoning his work to take another drink of his whiskey.]

[ buffy...hadn't planned to come into work today. even this? this isn't work. she blusters her way into the bar with a mission on her mind and vaults over the counter with an incredible display of grace. soon, she is crouched behind. looking for something.

she hasn't yet noticed stephen's presence. ]

[As the moon gets closer and closer, Nagisa really starts to panic. That thing's coming straight for them, and there's nothing they can do about it aside from freaking out. Hearing of some people who fled into the tunnels, she begins to wish that she had done the same. It's really too late to try doing that though. So instead... yeah, panicking.

After running around, crying and trying to figure out what she could possibly do and where she could hide, she finally gives up and just goes back to Community Building 3 to find somewhere to stay in there. Eventually, she'll just return to her apartment there. Looks like we're just all going to die huh.]

[Nagisa's crying face as she passes the house immediately spurs Minato out of his silent vigil on the front steps. Standing up, he jogs after her and touches her shoulder.] Nagisa-san?

[Kain is putting up a last minute fight despite how worn out he is from the week's events. He tries unsuccessfully a few times to jump to that moon, but something usually goes wrong- his power fails or the ground shakes and ruins his attempt to jump. When he does finally jump and make a stab at it... it's no use. He keeps trying anyway, until he's too exhausted to move.]

[...and all of this on his amusingly appropriate mun-chosen birthday. Figures that has to be the day everyone meets their end.]

[Rydia finds him after helping send more supplies to the tunnels. She watches but doesn't stop him, figuring that he needs the outlet. For her part, she sways and plops down on the ground, as the world around her won't stop spinning.]

[Staring into the eyes of the moon that had passed through the barrier - red, like glowing coals - is almost enough to turn his spine to water. That unblinking, soulless stare rattles him to his core, his knees suddenly feeling weak and wobbly like jelly again- - no. He can't let himself reel or tip over. Not when he's thirty feet tall, with living, breathing people scampering around near his feet. His mouth's gone bone-dry, the muscles in his throat clicking at his attempt to swallow.

Not enough saliva.

As a sinking sense of hopelessness sits in the pit of his stomach like a block of lead, he finds himself blinking sharply to will away the sudden prickling sting of his eyes. Desperately, angrily, he sets his jaw, his fists clenching and unclenching.

He wasn't going to be that little red-eyed kid again, hurrying stumblingly from the schoolyard with his shirt askew and blood dripping down his nose, laughter chasing him all the way home. Running running running, always running.

I ain't a coward.

Around him, men and women smaller than him are launching their fiercest attacks against the moon. It doesn't matter that it is drawing ever nearer, still - they are risking everything in one last stand for themselves, and for all in Luceti. For him, too.

A Star Punch.

That is the best he can do. It's what he has to do. In another time and another place... heck, last week, he could have laughed at the idea of punching the moon. But things have changed.

For now, all he can do is wait, breathing and breathing and breathing until that moon comes within his range.]

Roof of CH2

[His master had told him not to. Luke was told that his power was not strong enough to destroy the moon.

But everyone else was helping. A lot of people were using their own power to try to slow or stop the moon, and he'd be damned if he won't help.

He stares up for a while, a worried frown etched on his face. He won't deny that he's scared: the moon was impossibly close now, and that face was staring down at all of them... That awful face that seemed more like a cringe than anything. The ground shakes beneath him, and it's as he nearly loses his balance that he realizes he should start now.

If he can't destroy it, then maybe he can move it, or at least make it slow to a stop while everyone else beats it back. After all, he was able to do so with the crust of his own world.

So, Luke holds up both hands, his expression entirely focused as his hands glow with a golden light. On the moon, ribbons of blue light start to spread like veins, following the little nicks and craters along it... but they stop only a fifth around the moon; it spans across the village, but only winds up the moon for a small amount of the curve. Even with Asch, there's no way they could make their hyperresonance meet halfway like last time.

Luke grits his teeth and squeezes his eyes shut. He can feel the power taking a toll on his body, much faster and much earlier than before. Wind seems to spiral around him and makes his clothes flap and his hair wave upward, and he can feel his hands start to shake a little. He can barely even breathe; it feels as if he ran at full speed all around the world. But he can't just give up, not while there's still a chance.

The tendrils of light spread up just a little more, very, very slowly, before they stop again, and they still aren't even near the halfway point. Luke isn't sure if he can manage any more than that... yet he still tries.]

Nephry might have passed right by building two if she hadn't felt like it would be a good idea to look up at it. It, and the moon's leering face. She shudders, shaking her head and catching moving light out of the corner of her eye.

Someone was up there. She squints, trying to make out the figure...and it might just be someone she recognizes.

It takes her only a minute or two to run into the building and up to the roof. She's out of breath when she makes it that far, but there's no time for that, is there? Especially once she confirms the identity of that source of light.]

It's the end of the world as we know it...

[Mulder aims his gun at the moon, and fires, his own last minute effort to do something about this impending threat. He's tried shouting reason at it all week, and he's tried any number of insane Beak Doctor cures to stop it, to no avail.]

...and I feel...

[A few more shots, this just as ineffective as anything else. He lowers the weapon and resists an urge to flip off the man in the moon.]

...fine.

[He's got a hunch about this whole thing starting to build up, but he's not sure how to test his theory other than to... well, let it happen. On the chance that he's wrong, how often can he say he's been through an apocalypse? He might as well get the full experience of it.]

[So at a late hour approaching midnight, he eventually just pulls up a lawn chair, sits down and begins munching on sunflower seeds while watching that moon close in. He puts on a deceptively causal air as he does this, despite the heavy thoughts racing through his mind.]

[An eleventh-hour check of the village, and that's how Link manages to find Mulder attempting to shoot the moon out of the sky. Wincing at the sounds (those ears are definitely not for show), he hurries over once the shooting has stops.]

Around the village and on the roof of building four

[For days, Naoto has been watching the moon, even as the masks she had on took their effect on her, she still watched it's every move. She even went to the library every day to try and find out why something like this would happen. It can't be some ordinary experiment, something about it is just wrong.

The Malnosso have yet to step in even though the barrier is about to give in. If the barrier does indeed break there's no doubt they will die from the moon's fall. But is that what's really going to happen? Are they going to die? Or are they just going to wake up in their beds like they always do right after an experiment? This is more like a sick joke rather than an experiment.

During the entire day, she walks around the village, watching people make an attempt to stop the moon from falling by using different techniques. At one point she even decides to try it herself, calling forth her persona to try while she's on the roof of her building and tries push the moon away somehow, by either using physical force or by using almighty spells but it all seems...useless. The moon's intimidating stare stays exactly where it has been, unaffected by all the attacks thrown at it.

But that means she's going to give up. She can't die here--she won't die here.]

[He's calm, strangely so. Kouki forced himself into that familiar calm state of mind from the lockdown, as to not let his emotions run his decisions.]

[This is familiar. The moon now may be leering, and too much like something from a certain video game, but he remembers the feelings of malice, lost hope, and oppressive gravity from that day when Nyx herself descended on Earth in the guise of their own heavenly body.

Then, they'd also had no options. But a miracle occurred.

This time Minato can't bring that about. The lights flashing in other parts of Luceti illuminate the residents trying their best to deflect the descending rock. One extra Persona won't do what they can't. All he can do is observe from his doorstep, and try to help any distressed person who passes by.

At least Keiichi isn't here... Even if Minato himself knows it's just an experiment, and it's likely no one will even be hurt, the psychology of it makes it hard to stay completely unconcerned.

Minato will continue watching until it gets too close even for his comfort. After that, he returns inside, to stay out of the staring eyes until the end comes.]

[ Retconning decisions like a boss oh yeah

In the middle of the town square, amidst whatever chaos might be happening, stands Joshua. Mask-less for the first time since this ordeal began, he now stands quietly, staring calmly up at the moon. He's under no illusion that running will save any of them. If that moon will take out even one of them, it will be taking out all of them, and as he is he doesn't have the power to destroy it if he tried.

So instead, from one emissary of death to another, he's going to greet whatever may come without wavering. ]

Final Hour | House One

[It was really going to fall, wasn't it?]

[For the past few days, Ion had been doing everything he could to avoid thinking about that thing in the sky. The masks were a simple enough distraction... but they only made everyone blind to the truth. This was really going to happen. The moon's effects on the barrier alone was proof of that.]

[The room shakes and something across the room is knocked off the shelf. They were becoming more frequent now... it felt as though they never stopped. Would it be soon? He didn't even have the nerve to look out the window...]

[Sitting beside her on the edge of the bed, he gives Anise's hand a gentle squeeze. He doesn't even know when he grabbed onto it, but it brought him more comfort than any mask ever could.]

[And yet even so, he wished she didn't have to be here to face this with him. The earth rumbles in the distance as the room shakes again.]

...they're getting stronger, aren't they...

Y-yeah. [She nods, squeezing his hand in return. She tries not to tremble. She had to be strong. Ion needs her right now, and she doesn't want to spend her final minutes alive crying. There was more she had to do. She had to...had to...]

[She tries to blink away tears. It isn't fair! There's still so much she could do, so much that she and Ion could do together! It couldn't just end like this, after all they had been through.]

I'm...I...[She grits her teeth, looking down.] I'm just glad we're together.

The encroaching threat from this... parody of the moon is no longer objectively dismissable. Theoretically speaking, it could still be a simulation, even now, but at this point the effects it is having on even the artificial environment of the compound cannot be ignored or understated. Even if the moon won't truly hit, there is still a chance that a system failure or something could kill everybody, or put people at significant risk of harm even without that.

So Robert is... worried. Beyond worried. Terrified is probably more accurate, honestly. But instead of letting it consume him, he's going to do everything he can to try to get people to safety, like the announcement from a few days ago suggested. At any logical impact speed, the tunnels wouldn't help them. But is anything logical in Luceti? Maybe they still have a chance...

... He'll be looking for his friends and loved ones, those he cares about - though he may be forced to leave some behind at the worst parts if he can't. But maximize chances for survival. It's the only ethical thing to do. Even if this is illogical and every part of him wants to say that there isn't a reason to allow them to die - but when have the Malnosso ever made sense before?

... Whatever happens, he won't be alone. Somehow, that thought gives him strength.]

Minutes to midnight

[As the moon bears ever closer and the chaos on the surface grows worse, Don stays close to the tunnel entrance, waiting for Robert to return. He desperately wants to search for his still-absent partner, but chunks of earth keep sliding down into the tunnel entrance with each tremor, and he's afraid that if he leaves, he won't be able to dig it clear again. All his instincts are telling him he must be underground for whatever's going to happen tonight, so he stays, and digs, and hopes that Robert is coming back to him safely.]

Around the village, wherever the moon is closest, right to the end!

[Kazooie is a hero. And a hero never gives up.

Not even when death itself is staring her in the face, with a look almost as angry as her own.

She has never felt this kind of hopelessness, this eerie feeling that, no matter what she does, she is going to lose. The moon hasn't gone down to any attack. Not hers', not the other strong attacks from fellow heroes (and even some villains), not the barrier, not anything.

But she won't stop. She can't stop. Giving in would be admitting defeat. Giving in would be pushing everything that she is away.

Giving in would mean she isn't strong enough. And she cannot allow herself to not be strong enough.

So she will fight, incessantly. Anybody trying to attack the moon will find themselves assisted by this angry, adrenaline-fueled cartoon bird, hurling insults and Grenade Eggs at the moon's unyielding stony glare. She won't stop for anything other than to refill her Egg supply and keep attacking, even if it's futile. Especially if it's futile. And she'll be there, right until the very last minute.]

[As the moon breaches the barrier, Eggman begins to worry if this really is the end. But this isn't the first time he's had to blow up a moon and certainly not the first time he's faced a threat to the world.

He'll be wheeling (with some effort) what appears to be a circus-style cannon into the village, hastily cobbled together in the crisis. It was supposed to be a great weapon, but this can hardly even be called a prototype.

At some point, if Kazooie is flying low or landed to restock, she'll spot an Eggman and his fabulous cannon. He's been watching her attack the moon.]

Very impressive! But I think your firepower needs a little more kick to it!

Between Items Shop and House Seven

[Jack is decidedly not looking at the moon. The moon, to him, is a hallucination. NOT REAL. He has a great deal of experience with seeing things that aren't there, after all. The best way he can think of to keep from going mad all over again is to simply try to ignore it---even when the shaking of the earth sends him reeling about, nearly dropping the almost-child-sized stuffed teddy bear he is carrying with him to House Seven from the items shop.

It's a very fluffy bear with a ribbon tied smartly around its neck. A cozy kind of bear.

The pirate dearly would love to have some rum. He has had a few swigs from his flask today, but nothing NEAR the amount he needs to make this More Better. But rum is not an option right now. The only matter he is concerned with is getting back to House Seven.]

@ house seven -- jack & buffy w/ jilly later?

How many apocalypses had she stared down, now? Buffy paused mid-chore, lifting her fingers up to the light and ticking each one off. She lost count -- confused over whether some things constituted ends-of-the-world. They had all felt like it, at least. The final number was probably something along the lines of too many.

The chore in question involved filling big plastic jugs with water. Just in case. She remembered the devastation and the ruin of the last big earthquake. She remembered one half of the house sinking. Lungworm the goldfish -- may he rest in peace. Buffy sighed a sigh that was drowned by the sound of rushing water. The three of them should probably find somewhere safer to hide out.

Hide out. The words made her itch. Buffy Summers had always had dependents to look after -- friends and family, colleagues and classmates. But she had never had a young child under her care. It changed the game-plan entirely. At least half of her was yelling out to leave Jilly with Jack and get out into the thick of things but the rest felt too intimately concerned with the fates of the other two.

She twisted another cap shut. Jilly had been settled down with some paints and salvaged canvases. Jack was...well, she wasn't sure why Jack had left. But Buffy found herself anxiously awaiting any sound of the door opening or closing.

[So she spent the last few days attacking her friends due to those stupid masks and now she has the last mask she found off, Fuuko looks up at the moon... And then she runs. What else are you meant to do in these situations? She's trying to keep and eye out for Nagisa and Yusuke as she's running about, but she's in such a mad panic she's probably ran by them.

As the quakes get worse, Fuuko realises she won't make it back to her apartment in time. Now she isn't one for crying but right now she's considering it. Running to the nearest building, Fuuko huddles down and waits for all to be over.]

[Very soon, she'll have someone sitting down next to her. Giles doesn't look at all well - really, just the chance to get off his feet for a few seconds is probably what he needs.]

[This isn't something a child should have to see or live through, but when has Luceti ever been reasonable there?]

[There's a man sitting at the edge of the fountain, staring up at the sky. From a distance, it might be hard to identify him. His style of dress is vastly different from what Giles normally wears. But get a little closer, and you'll see that Giles has been returned from his penalty removal at the worst possible moment.

There's a grim set to his face as he stares up at the moon, almost defiantly. Sheer force of will is all he has, right now, and thanks to the drugs coursing through his system he barely has that. But he's coherent enough to realize that the end is very, very likely near, and there's not a damn thing he can do about it.

Just like last time.

Really, the hallucinations are almost welcome, even if they hit with the force of a sledgehammer to the head. It's quite obvious whenever they do, because Giles doubles over, resting his head in his hands as he tries to block out one world, one time, or the other. The dim plaza becomes a library, a mansion, a sewer systems, a grassy knoll across from the burning...

...bakery?

This place really is falling apart. And if they really are about to die...

...after a while spent trying to get his bearings, Giles will finally struggle unsteadily to his feet. It takes him several seconds to remember why he's hurt enough to slow him down further. But when he does? He grits his teeth and gets going. His goal, above all else, is to find people.]

[Well, he's found someone, alright. Link's All-Night Mask is gone, and those four nights of missing sleep are bound to catch up fast - but right now, he's riding on adrenaline, hurrying through the village to try and find anyone who hasn't made it in to the shelters yet.]

[When he sees Giles, he practically screeches to a halt, uncertainty flickering over his face for a moment before he sets his jaw and jogs over.]

Giles! Are you okay?

Around the village, in the tunnels when midnight starts getting close

[Link's All-Night Mask is gone, and the exhaustion from four sleepless nights is making him stumble as he hurries through the village - but there's no way he can sleep now.]

[He'll be trying to find anyone who has yet to make it into the tunnel, those who are most at risk, and trying to usher them to safety. He'll be keeping a particular eye out for friends, housemates - family.]

[Even Epona has been urged into the tunnels, ears flickering in mild claustrophobia but still dutifully trotting to where they're to rendezvous under the mountains.]

[When the later hours begin to approach, he'll take shelter in the tunnels as well, hurrying on in the direction of the mountains or milling around their gathering point listlessly. Friends, housemates, chosen family, expect to have an anxious, sleep-deprived Link checking you over.]

[Rydia is too disoriented to even think about leaving home, so Link will have to come to House 9 if he wants to see her. She's curled up in the living room, shuddering every time there's a tremor or power flux.]

[Azzip is closed, and Sheik, anxious about the feeling of being trapped by the thing, spends much of the day wandering the village with a kitten perched on his shoulder and his precious lyre tucked in his arms. In his attempts to ignore his own feelings, he stops every so often to help others that are struggling with their fears, or trying to escape, somehow. He should go with them, to save himself, but he doesn't. Something about the Moon's horrific gaze keeps him firmly rooted in the village, as if he is supposed to watch as its people are crushed by the thing.]

[Eventually he finds his way back home. Not to house 2, where he'd been living, but home at 49, that he never should have left. He finds his way up to the highest point on the roof, to watch the slow descent of the moon.]

[It's back home where Link finds himself a little before midnight, before heading to the relative safety of tunnels himself. For a moment, his eyes widen in surprise when he sees who's up there, but it doesn't take him too long before he makes his way up as well.]

The Forest

[In the last few days, Moro has finally escaped her masks and is simply stalking, with her eyes, ears, and nose constantly turned to the moon. She often keeps herself directly under where she perceives it, looking into its frightful face.

If this brought her death, she was fine with it. Eager for it. If it brought the death of these countless gentle humans, then how sad, but ultimately for the better. Death is nothing to fear, and after being so wrongfully stolen from her death, she was eager to have things set right.

What disturbed her wasn't the impending death. It was the face on the moon. The expression, wearing such a horrific mix of emotions. Anger? Sadness? Fear? Moro could only wonder why the moon sought to fall and destroy everything.

It brought a deep sorrow from her, which she expressed by lifting her head and howling, long and loud, to the moon. Her huge lungs, though her ribcage shuddered from the effort, held the howl as long as it could manage before she inhaled and howled again.]

[She was on her way to the tunnels, when she heard the noise; there was still time to spare, and... well, she was compelled to see what the wolf was doing, what she was planning on her last night. She pauses to look up where the goddess sat, her arms circled on a few books.

[Terra sleeps fitfully, with a sense of dread that is immediately justified once she awakens. Thanks to the barrier breach, the power flux is wreaking even more havoc on her now, and the increasing tremors help that not at all. At least she's free of the masks.

It takes a while to focus, but when she's able, Terra will stumble outside her house to have a look at that moon. Learning her lesson and not going airborne this time, Terra nonetheless flings all of her offensive spells at it; fire, ice and other elements. All that does is increasing her dizziness, however. She slumps to her knees, and remains there for a while, staring up at the moon with dread.]

[There is a man standing tall on a rooftop amid the tremors, a sword at his side and his face tilted skyward, fierce winds tugging at his clothes and dragging his hair across his face. The air swirls around him, thick with ill-foreboding. The moon plummets, slowly albeit steadily, death seemingly an inevitability.

Goemon's eyes slide shut - and in a moment of stillness and silence amid chaos, he digs deep, deep within himself for the unshakable calm he needs. The unshakable calm he should possess. Pulling a mindful breath from his hara, he gathers the thoughts flying around his mind like papers being blown about a room from an open window and files them away. They all find their place.

It has come to this. All his training has culminated to this moment, this one decisive moment where he gazes into the face of death with samurai fatalism and knows he is ready because he must be.

When his eyes open again, they are burning quietly with indefatigable resolve - and are otherwise inscrutable.
