[On the first day, one very flustered Pokémon Scientist sits up in a foreign bed in a house. When did he ever live in a house? Where's his apartment? This situation needs to be resolved rapidly.

People in and around House 55 might see him, with his journal bundled against his chest protectively (really? Why is it here?) and a Pokéball-insignia cloth bag full of essentials, generally looking flustered and calling for a certain floating electrical pet of his.]

Hematite...! Hematite, where in the world are you...?

[Somebody want to explain to him what's going on?]

[Later the same day - and later in the week, as well - Robert will begin to resettle into a routine, despite the fact he knows something is wrong. Routines are comfortable for him - they always have been, even when he was working back with Blaine in the lab on Cinnabar.

Assuming Don let him leave for his apartment on the first floor of Community Building 1 (picked for its proximity to House 11, the Pokémon house), he'll set up shop there, and can be found throughout the week practising at the Battle Dome - though he's still coming in for medical volunteering and the like, he reacts quite differently to the medical tech - as well as the Item Shop. Anytime he's outside (which is more frequently than usual), he'll have Hematite in tow - hovering near his shoulders as though it had always been there.

... Anybody who knows him really well? He is definitely acting off. Not stuttering nearly so much, a little less mild-mannered, in general more sure of himself.

And all the while? He'll be putting together the pieces of the week at the library or his own apartment, with his (decidedly modern-day-looking) laptop. Either the journals are wrong, or his eidetic memory is... the question is, which is it?]

[Today, Yuriko is in the item shop, looking for any trace of her home world on its shelves. It's not long after she enters that she notices Robert, or more accurately that... thing floating after him.

Is that a robot? It's so primitive compared to Empire tech. Yuriko will just stare at it for a while.]

[Robert doesn't immediately react, but when he does notice someone is staring at his Magnemite, he glances over curiously.]

... Ah... hello...?

[For its part, Hematite hovers over the shelf, one large eye swivelling to "face" Yuriko.]

[Yuriko stares right back at that eye, unblinking.]

What is that?

His name is Hematite.

[Robert smiles, in a way borne of years of familiarity, and extends slender fingers to stroke the polished metal surface. A low, electric, buzzing hum emanates from the floating being.]

He is my Magnemite... my Pokémon partner. I have... worked alongside him for years...

[Red was in and out of the item shop himself that week, searching for additional powercells for his datapad and general supplies for the Battle Dome reconnaissance mission he had planned for later in the week. Dressed in dark colored, casual attire and his hair in a disarray, he looks more ready for a day of urban spelunking than he would otherwise. Notably, his wings are in the open, and they flutter or ruffle their bright red feathers as he converses and generally emotes.

Robert would recognize him as someone he currently is not, but Red is already suspecting that the Malnosso are up to something.

He doesn't worry about it, and instead focuses his curiosity on Robert.]

Professor Hastings! [His smile is warm and friendly.] That's a clever looking droid you have there--how did you manage to construct it?

[Robert double-takes briefly when he sees Red - or, well, Mr. Lupin, as he knows him.]

... Do you perhaps mean Hematite, Mr. Lupin?

[The fact he does not falter or stutter may be unusual in and of itself.]

[The constant mix-ups between him at the French Thief that Fujiko had him read about were starting to get exasperating. He shakes his head, runs a hand through his unruly hair.] I asked you to call me Red, Professor. Remember?

...if your Hematite is this odd droid here, then yes.

... Did you? [He can't remember that at all. How strange.] ... I... cannot recall that in the least, sir. My apologies...

[How very strange. However, Robert's expression brightens a little.]

Red is... certainly a wonderful name. One of the most proficient Pokémon Trainers of my generation - a fantastic example to all future Trainers, and a great asset to us Pokémon scientists as well...

[He trails off at the mention of his Magnemite, though, who buzzes lowly in response.]

I am... uncertain why you refer to him as a droid, however. Do you not remember he is a Magnemite?

Call it Thursday evening.

[Damn. He'd finally managed to get free of a certain pair of marauders, and now his hand was still shot. He had to get to the clinic.

... what in God's name was that, and how was it floating so?]

[It is a Magnemite.

And a Quiet, but highly curious, Magnemite at that.

Hematite makes a low buzzing electrical hum, a sound similar to that whine made by an overcharged wire, and hovers a little closer to Harry, scrutinizing him with that single eye.]

Mag-ne?

[And Robert glances around reflexively as he approaches the clinic.]

... Sir? Do you need assistance...?

Magne-mite. [Hematite hasn't noticed the injury yet, but it's certainly looking him over.]

"... Aye! Some whore-spawned pirate shot my hand and made off with my bloody Rifleman's jacket!"

[He's just going to... edge away from that... floating metal thing, now.]

[Don't worry, Hematite's harmless! Mostly! (Unless you're a Water type. Then watch out.)]

... I see... well, if you will allow me to escort you inside, I can perhaps get this treated for you...

... Is there some reason for the attack? [Dangerous people ought to be quarantined. Luckily Red might be able to deal with this situation with his Pokémon... or maybe Gold.

Or someone else. There are many strong people in Luceti, after all. Not just the Pokémon Trainers...]

[Don can't imagine why Robert is calling for a semi-precious stone, so he pokes his head in to see what's going on.]

[... Oh. Don's house? He can't recall having slept over here. What could've motivated such an unusual decision on his part?

It occurs to him that he doesn't remember a day happening... well, nearly a day.

Twenty-one hours.]

This is bizarre.

[A tad awkwardly:] Do you remember what happened yesterday...? Because I do not. And Hematite is missing... Where could he be...

[That was two days ago, of course, but Don is bad with dates and he hasn't noticed he skipped over April 1st.]

[... Robert didn't name the turtle pendant, did he?] It's just enamel...

My Pokémon, Don. [Robert says this in a tired way, as though it ought to be immediately obvious.] Perhaps he did not expect me to sleep here. It would not be unusual for him to be at my apartment...

[As for the turtle pendant, Don may notice a conspicuous absence of it - and indeed, an absence of many other things he would normally associate with the scientist. Like his nanocomputer. Instead, there is an ordinary laptop where it ought to be...]

[Mithos spots Robert while outside, in transit to the library. Well, actually, he spots Hematite first, because a floating magnetic creature tends to catch eyes pretty quickly. It also has a tendency to stir curiosity in teenage boys.

Which is why he's approaching, a little shy but smiling - he remembers speaking with this man over the journal when he was a child, though his memory of what they had talked about is a little fuzzy...]

[Not a surprise - Hematite has been getting a lot of attention this week. This would strike Robert as really odd, if he hadn't already realized by this point that there's a Shift going on.

Still, he's awkwardly attached to the memories he has. He doesn't... know his supposed life...

So yes, he does recognize Mithos himself, but... he's going to work from the perspective of... being the Pokémon scientist, and not the "Terran" his journal says he is. Even if that's wrong.]
