Well, no. But I have time enough between patients to get a good portion of it done today. [And ordinarily he would accept her help, but...]

No 'but' Sweet Thing. I'm taking half, and you can't stop me.

[She reaches over and gives his earlobe a tweak before hopping off his desk and walking around to fetch the files.]

Wait. Wait. [He attempts to snatch them back from her.] I'd rather do them myself. I have a system.

A system that will take you forever to complete. You'll be here all day and all night again, forget to sleep, forget to eat, and get ill. And then I'll have to be sad.

Do you want to make me sad Rett?

[Goddamnit, woman. He eyes her for a moment, then pulls out one of the completed forms he has sitting nearby and holds it out to her.]

[Adele smiles once Will caves and takes the offered form, stepping in and up to give him a quick kiss on the cheek.]

Of course Sweet Thing. Whatever you say.

[At that, his mind grinds to a halt. He blinks and gapes, unable to process anything for a few seconds, and then, as his brain slowly reboots, he reddens from his neck to his ears.

She kissed him. Like, actually kissed him. On the face.

He honestly has no idea what to do about that.]

Rett? Oh dear.

[She can't help but chuckle a bit, he is absolutely darling when he's befuddled like this. She takes him by the elbow and guides him back into his chair, then loops her arms around his shoulders.]

Are you alright Sweet Thing?

[He tries to say something, but it starts coming out as a stammer and he cuts off quickly. He tries to gather himself, but with her arms around him like that his chances at coherency aren't high. Eventually he just snaps at her.]

W-What has gotten into you today?!

[fleurdesel]

Nothing.

[She frowns, not caring for his tone. She knew Will was more reserved in public, but they're on their own in a closed room. No shame to be had here. Needing more contact to better sort her, and his mind, she slips into his lap and rests her head on his shoulder. After a moment or two Will might feel brushes of thought and emotion that aren't exactly his nudging up against his mind.]

[He doesn't notice her interfering emotions, mainly because his own are so torrential right now. What the hell is she doing? Does this mean that she has feelings for him, or is she messing with him, or--]

Adele, I--I really don't understand why--just stop. Please.

[fleurdesel]

You need to calm yourself Rett. This kind of stress isn't good for you.

[She picks around that miasma of emotion for a moment before reaching in, wrapping his mind with fond affection and concern as she begins muting the anxiety, stress, and fear that floats there. there]

[That he feels, and it gets him to gaping again. Was that healing magic? He didn't think it had any psychological application, though if the stuff could affect chemical signaling related to inflammation, it isn't too far-fetched to think that it could tamper with his brain chemistry...

...And, though he's feeling somewhat less freaked out now, she's still sitting his lap. He really should address that.]

Why are you sitting on me?

Because I like being close to you? It helps me keep you calm Sweet Thing, and it's comfortable.

[Her smile is soft and a little impish, but the warmth he'll feel around his mind is sincere. She cares about Will, has always found him to be a dear friend. A good man, if a bit of a nervous one.]

You shouldn't be doing that.

[Unless she fancies him, he doesn't say. Otherwise it's inappropriate, and terribly uncomfortable for him.]

Doing what? Touching your mind with mine or sitting on your lap?

[And she's just settled right back down against his shoulder, arms looped around him loosely. Cozy. Comfortable.]

You didn't mind it on the Beach in February.

Both. [His mouth about drops open. She mentioned the beach. He thought they'd had an unspoken agreement never to mention the beach.]

...I wasn't in my right mind then.

You want me to stop?

[She will in a heartbeat, really. He's calmer now. Well. As calm as Rett ever was.]

You weren't in your wrong mind either Rett.

I was drugged. There was nothing right about that situation.

...I'm sorry Rett.

[She pulls her mind from his and slips out of his lap in the aforementioned heartbeat. Even takes a few steps away for good measure, back to him. Wings tucked up close along her spine.]

It wasn't bad as all that. You enjoyed yourself well enough, as I recall.

[...That makes it sound as though they had sex. Which makes him awkward again. He rests his face in his hand.]

Why are you acting like this? If this is some sort of joke, I don't find it funny.
