It will be nice in the summer. [Likewise Sabriel holds the white dress against herself to look at in the mirror, tipping her head thoughtfully. It almost feels a little vulnerable, being so light and feminine but Luceti wasn't quite like the Old Kingdom, she could allow herself to be vulnerable every now and then...right?]

There are...what are they called? Slips? Little under dresses you wear to preserve your modesty when you're wearing something like that. Just down at the end of the aisle.

[After a moment she reaches out to pull a soft blue scarf from another rack and holds it against Sabriel's newest dress.] And this would be a lovely alternative to the belt, don't you think?

Ah, I'll pick some up on the way out. [With a grin she add the sash to the hanger with the white dress, turning back to the racks to pull out some blouses she had seen earlier, holding out the first to Adele.]

This would go well with your hair clip, and I'm a little fond of this one myself.

[She gives the pale blouse a little shake.]

I should probably grab one myself for this dress. [She nods to herself before accepting the first blouse offered, smiling.]

Hmm. With these? We'd need trousers or light skirts to keep it casual, but to dress to really impress? These. [Adele holds out a black pencil skirt, then a pair of wide legged pants.]

Those would look quite nice, they certainly make for a strong silhouette. [Holding the skirt and the pant she tips her head after a moment.]

Does clothing generally get tighter in the future?

[fleurdesel]

It depends on the planet. Some use full bodysuits that cling to every curve; some prefer long elaborate robes. Culture dictates fashion.

That's true...Ancelstierre doesn't have a big mix of cultures just yet and the Old Kingdom...well, it hasn't changes for hundreds of years. [Fashion wise at least.]

[fleurdesel]

As time and tastes progress, so will fashion. [She shrugs.] Still, we have to balance function with fashion. At the end of the day, wear what you want, and what makes you feel good.

We wore uniforms at the College so we only wore what we really wanted on the trips to Bain or any parties the school happened to host.

[So many fond memories...and some not so fond but still she can't help but smile.]

Ellimere and Sulyn and I would stay up all night dancing if the professors didn't call us in.

[Adele can't help but think back to her own experience with dances, balls. Usually after a wedding, or for a grand gala. The one on Onderan stuck out, if only because she'd met Jeddack there.]

And what would you wear to dance, little bell? Dresses? Long lovely skirts with petticoats, or something you could move in?

Dresses, preferably with a little movement to them. Almost like... [Blinking she reaches into the rack and pulls out a dress- oh, it's shorter than she thought.]

...This but with a little more length and blank tassles at the bottom that would go to the knee.

That looks lovely- it's another one you might wear with leggings I think. It'd be adorable on you; though I'm not sure when there would be a dance. Still, must recommend you keep it.

I'll keep it for a special occasion then...maybe also when I've got a little more confidence. [With a chuckle Sabriel adds the dress to her growing batch of 'purchases', adding a couple more outfits as they catch her eye.]

The parties and events that happen here are so different than the ones I'm used to. Usually at home there are rooms for mingling and talking and eating and then one room dedicated to dancing.

Half of beauty is your attitude Sabby. The rest is your smile. With the right attitude and the brightest smile, anything can be lovely. You simply must think it of yourself for it to be true.

That sounds much like some of the balls and galas I've attended on the core planets. It's a little boring, though; and takes up quite a bit of space. Why not have one large room for all of it?

That's how they conduct the parties in Bain actually, everything happening in one room where the whole town is invited to attend. But during school meetings or correspondance with other educational facilities they tend to be very formal to better show off the caliber of the young men and women the Colleges teach.

They always do what the must in order to impress, don't they? No matter the world, the time, or the place. [Adele chuckles and adds another few blouses, light and breezy, to her stack of clothing.]

Of course. Only the finest ladies graduate from Wayverly College after all. [Huffing a soft chuckle she shakes her head, glad to be out of the more boring lessons like 'history of tableware'.]

But that College is the only one that was close enough to the Wall for me to be able to learn Charter magic so it did end up being very useful.

I learned far more by going on diplomatic missions with my Master than I did in classes. Then again it might have been because I found most everyone in the temple terribly boring- anyone from outside? Fascinating. And quite learned, if in different areas.

I would only be better informed across the Wall in the Old Kingdom but that was not an option for me. [For reasons Adele is already familiar with, no need to repeat them. Taking a step back she looks over her finds. If she picks up any more clothes she'll have trouble carrying them home.]

I think this will do for me for today, what about you Adele?

I think we've found more than enough.

[Adele nods at their combined findings and smiles, leading Sabriel back out. This had been a successful venture. Now. What else did teenagers do? The few books and magazine's she'd found all mentioned' makeovers' but. That seemed a bit drastic. perhaps just hair? Ah, well. She'll think of something.]

[Changing quickly back into her normal clothes she grabs the armful of new clothing and walks briskly beside Adele, quite a good deal happier than she'd been earlier in the day. Something was definitely different about the older woman now that she remembered but she'd been too distracted by the fun of their shopping trip. But...they were having such a good time, she didn't want to ask about it just yet. Instead she tips her head up at Adele.]

Is there anything else you need to pick up while we're out?

[fleurdesel]

Hmm...

[Adele pauses just outside the grocery store, looks over to Sabriel, and nods.]

Combs. And lacquer. [Her free arm goes around Sabriel's shoulders and once again they head into the fray, Adele wandering until she finds the closest thing to a cosmetics section as she can.]

[Sabriel chuckles as they make their way into the grocery, idly glancing over the colours available.]

So we are going to treat ourselves completely, are we?

[fleurdesel]

Dear, darling Sabby, my sweetest little bell. You haven't had the opportunity to do this for yourself in some time, yes? Allow me to treat you.

[A few combs go into the bag, hair pins. A lovely clip. Something that says it will keep hair in place without being sticky. The colors make her quirk a brow.]

A pale pink would be best. Something that is close to a natural color.

I...no, I haven't. Thank you Adele. [Lightly she rest her head against Adele's shoulder for a moment before pulling away, cheeks tinged a faint pink from the not-quite-a-hug as she gives the nail polish a closer look.]

The selection here is certainly... [She blinks at an odd neon orange and raises a brow before picking up a nice neutral pink.] More varied than what can be found at home.
