[She looks down, feeling miserable, and admits quietly:]

Sometimes he looks at me, and I feel pretty - not just pretty - beautiful. It's a good feeling. And... I like spending time with him, and we'd do a lot less of that if he was into someone else.

But then... I'd be glad too. If she felt the same way towards him, then... [I'd feel a little empty, but--] honestly, I'd be happy. All I'm doing right now is hurting him.
