Beach Volleyball Tournament

What: Volleyball Tournament
When: July 22nd, 11am onward!
Where: The Beach!
Summary: Fun in the sun and a bit of competitive spirit! If you signed up for the volleyball tournament, be prepared to rock the house down against the opposing teams! Just there to watch? Enjoy the seats around the volleyball courts as a spectator and have a refreshing drink or some beach-side snacks! SWIMSUIT REQUIRED for everyone there. If you're found by someone in charge without one you may or may not be subject to getting mysteriously kidnapped and put in one, human or not. That's right, even chihuahuas if there are any have to at least have a cool straw hat and sunglasses.
Rating: PG-13. Please try to keep it PG-13 max and warn in the subject header for anything iffy!
When you first arrive, there will be a huge board with the brackets for the tournament on it:



{{ ooc: All of the brackets were totally randomized using RNG on random.org. Unfortunately, I don't have all of the muns memorized so if I put your character against another one of your character, PLEASE let me now ASAP and we can get that fixed! If there are no replies to a match within one week, that team will be disqualified as having not showed up, just so that we can keep going. After the first week, it will be 3 days. (The first week is to account for Otakon, since I know a lot of people are going to that.) }}

After you pass the sign, there are multiple volleyball courts set up, ref towers, lots of beach umbrellas and towels set out on the sand for viewers, and waiters and waitresses handing out drinks to anyone who comes by, courtesy of the local bars. Alcohol will only be available to those who are 18+. It's hot, too, so make sure you don't forget sunscreen!

This way! [ She's totally going to make a display of keeping her water gun pointed at him the whole way there. None should cross the swimsuit line! Anyway, she leads him over to a weird impromptu tent sort of thing, then she goes into a pretty big box of folded clothes and digs through it for a minute before pulling out a Hawaiian shirt and board shorts. Yep. ] Here you go.

[ Yuri laughs at that. ] Well, you can go without a top if you want.

Alright. I'm not going to watch while you change so hop to it.

Outside of the tent, young lady. [He's not showing someone that young anything.]

I'm going, I'm going. [ She heads out and even zips the thing closed behind her. ]

[He changes quickly, however, and has to admit that he likes the way that the clothes fit despite his protests.]

Thirty-six isn't old!

It is compared to how old I am.

18 or 19, probably. Somewhere around there. [ She shrugs. ] I never really kept exact count after I died.

[He emerges from the tent and gazes at her curiously.]

...what do you mean that you died, Pippa?

I didn't mention that?

[ Whoops. She usually likes to mention it as one of the first things. It's better than making friends with someone and never telling them that the minute you get out of here you're going back to being dead. ]

I'm alive here but I'll go back to the afterlife when I get out of here.

No, I didn't know.

[Though that attitude...]

I'd say I was sorry, but you seem very relaxed about it.

I already know I'm dead, I have been for a while. Getting upset over it anymore would be weird, especially since that's what I'm trying to get back to. I've got things to do in the afterlife.

[wait, what?]

You mean that there's more to being dead than...uh, being dead?

[magentarific]

It's complicated. Basically, my afterlife is for a specific type of kids who need to move on. We're all high schoolers there and we all had lives that ended way too short for whatever reason and we unfair in a way that we had no control over. We get stuck here if it's bad enough that God doesn't see us fit to wipe our memories and let our souls be reincarnated until we find a way to get over it. If you can't or won't get over it, you stay there until you do no matter how long it takes. You don't age, you can't stay hurt-- but you can get hurt and feel pain exactly like normal, you can't die again because you're already dead. You become satisfied or live like a normal teenager there, you disappear and your soul gets reincarnated.

Most people just get reincarnated though.

No, no he doesn't.]

That. Is very complicated. It doesn't sound like it's all that busy though. What is it, a giant waiting room?

A boarding school. It's a giant school with a forest, mountains, a river... There are people there too. Not just other dead people, but they're not really people. They're like NPCs in a video game.

...That sounds like the set up for a D and D style game. Do you fight monsters too?

[magentarific]

Not usually. We used to just fight with each other, but something changed and I.. don't know what it is-- but these things started attacking everyone. If you get caught you lose your free will and your memories, but still have to exist in the afterlife. That's why I have to get back.
