EVENT LOG: SCAVENGER HUNT

Who: All you scavenger hunters!
What: Scavenging and other fantabulousness, I suppose.
When: November 24th to 28th
Where: The whole village! And yet also all over time and space...

As announced by CJ, the village's immediate environs are divided up according to this map. There are five areas: the Nile, Ice Age, Space Opera, Shogunate, and Gangland. Time-and-place appropriate architecture and conjured up NPCs exist in each area.

Don't forget the scavenger hunt! While actually finding things is ultimatly optional, you can find more information on the hunt here. If you want to claim a reward from the hunt, be sure to link at least two related threads on the new rewards claims post.

Finally, here's a quick rundown of the objects:
- In THE NILE: A ceremonial dagger and a piece of Pharoah's treasure
- In GANGLAND: A tommy gun and a set of car keys
- In ICE AGE: A bone spear and a smilodon's tooth
- In SPACE OPERA: a raygun and part of a robot
- In SHOGUNATE: a samurai sword and water from a kappa's head

[After waking up to the sounds of a gangland shootout, Saori decided that perhaps it was time to get out of the area for a little while. CJ's message had amused her enough that going out on the scavenger hunt seemed like a reasonable enough idea. However, when she wandered south and discovered the Shogunate area, she was rather pleased. She'll make an effort to visit the other areas long enough to collect the requested items by hook or by crook.

She's happy to have a chance to use the myriad of skills she possesses to acquire the objects. Saori isn't above stealing, using deception, or even her own divinity to overawe the more primitive-minded NPCs to get what she wants. In fact, she finds that it's fun to do just that, since it's not something she can do often. If you need a partner for the scavenging, feel free to ask Saori for help!

At the end of the day, though, she's just not comfortable in a Gangland style house, so she'll be staying with Cayla Reed.

Throughout the event, Saori can be spotted around the village, but nearly all of the time she's not collecting items for the scavenger hunt, she will be out and about in the Shogunate area. She's highly amused by the tacky recreation of the land she grew up in, but even still she observes many traditional customs and displays many habits some might find odd. She's happy to duel with the various samurai, play traditional games beside koi-ponds, and snack on soba from street vendors. It's like a tacky amusement park version of home! Of course, she has no love for any ninjas that try and interrupt her fun...

Got a demon infestation? Want to prank a kappa? Ambushed by ninjas? She'll help you with a smile and a laugh. It's nice to have something familiar instead of the bizarre circumstances that've happened so far.]

Egypt! Second day.

[A scavenger hunt is something Loki takes very serious. After all, what is a better way to prove his miraculous wit and other special god of mischief-abilities then to participate in a thing like this and win.

After a long and convincing speech the priest that kept the needed ceremonial dagger made the wise decision to also give said dagger to him. Loki knows how to use his words.

But that treasure...and the scorpions coming from absolutely every direction. That proves to be way more difficult.
Loki backs away and shushes at the scorpions, hoping they would calm down and go away.

But scorpions do not work that way...obviously...]

[Saori had gathered the dagger earlier, having tricked him into leaving it untended by having an ensorcelled hound lead the priest away, and she too had plunged into the tombs of the Pharoah.

When she heard sounds of a scuffle up ahead, she found herself staring in wide-eyed surprise at her bff, who had apparently run afoul of a massive colony of black scorpions. Summoning up her will, the goddess sent out a whipping torrent of wind that blew the bugs down a side tunnel, but left Loki unharmed.

After all, bugs were icky. And she hated them.]

Good afternoon, bff. What brings you to these dark halls?

[At first Loki does not even notice Saori blowing all the scorpions away, he is too busy hopping away from them. He had tried to keep them away with magic but well, he only managed to let two of them float around for a moment and thats it.

Its Saori's voice that makes him look up, raising both eyebrows.]

Hello fellow-bff!

[He looks over his shoulder before he hops closer.]

Treasure brings me here. This is a scavenger hunt, you see? I have to gather treasures to acquire points of some sort. Maybe secret points that give me access to more information.

[Like Tony Stark told him...]

Night 1 / Shogunate

[Marco's got some traditional garb on -- well, in a completely amusement park/Epcot style anyway. It fits him though, you've got to admit. That's when he spots the ninjas.]

Back for more, eh? Well the joke's on you mateys, I just spent the last weekend practicing for this with dodgeball. I know all your tricks now.

[Actually he got creamed in it, but hey, that's kind of practicing. He sticks his tongue out and reaches into his shirt as though to pull out something dangerous and waits for them to scatter and regroup later. They'll be back but for now, he's fine with letting them think he actually knows how to use a gun. He doesn't and can't, and really he could use Izou for all of this, but it's all good.]

Hey Saori! Have you tried this tea? [Offers her a cup and comes to sit down beside her at a koi pond.]

[From her seat at the pond, Saori watches the display with a look of abject bemusement. Ninjas were things she wasn't overly fond of either, and she'd already driven away more than a handful with a display of divine might. Still, the display was amusing, and when Marco approached she accepted the cup.]

I haven't. [She sniffs it and smiles] But it smells lovely.

[She waves a hand at the departing ninjas

Friends of yours?

It's becoming my new favorite. I might have to try more formal tea ceremonies more often. Assuming I have the time.

[That is a bluff. He totally just snagged a couple cups from a vendor later, but anyhow~]

Heh. They keep wanting to play, but their game doesn't interest me.

Day 2, Shogunate

[So Layton did a little bit of overnight reading on kappas and now he's on the hunt, poking around ponds and rivers. Sooner or later he'll wander into Saori's vicinity, but he's too absorbed in his search to notice her. She should have no trouble noticing him, however, since his clothes have been replaced with a brown kimono but his top hat remains curiously untouched.]

[She rightly does spot him, poking his head around and looking for the strange creatures. The top-hat thoroughly amuses her, and she can't help but burst out laughing. It's almost adorable, and so very, very out of place next to her sky blue kimono.]

Good afternoon Professor! [She manages to keep it together long enough to call out]

[When Don spots Saori sitting by a pond with a go board, he's not sure whether she's a villager or a simulation. He takes the seat opposite her anyway.]

[She nods and smiles]

Of course. I remember our talk the other day. Perhaps I can help you become less rusty at the game.

[Loki returns to the shogunate area regularly, since his house is still there. And he does need to explore the area and find the items for the scavenger hunt.

A kappa. He's not even certain what that is, and the library is a bit tricky to use these days. Perhaps Saori will know... this is her sort of place. He keeps an eye out for her.]

[Toph isn't doing much scavenging, but she is definitely a fan of all these stone structures in the Nile area. She may or may not be contemplating how much force she would need to crack the top of the pyramid wide open...could she do it with the power cap? Hmm...]

[Saori is wandering around as well, just poking her head into various places, and as it happens the Nile area is one of them. She spots Toph, and waves merrily]

Shogunate, Day 5

[Steve is seated near a koi pond, under one of the trees. He's dressed in fairly simple daily life samurai garb that is far too baggy for his tastes. He's been to other countries before, but none that were so different as this. Although he's unwilling to admit it, he's experiencing a bit of culture shock.

At least if he stays by the pond he might spot a kappa and collect the water off its head.]

Shogunate, Day 5

[Saori spots Steve as she's on her way to one of the street vendors, and makes a mental note to bring him something. So Cap, have a goddess walking up to you carrying a box filled with meat-on-a-stick. She approaches with a cheerful smile]

Good afternoon, Steve.

Day 2? Shogunate Land

[ Snacking on "soba," huh? ]

That even taste any good?

[ The man standing several paces to Saori's right looks slightly different at the moment, but his dry skeptical tone would denote him as a particular Shinsengumi vice commander who's not entirely impressed with their new surroundings. ]

[She turns to regard him, and smiles when she notes who he is]

Oh, it's nothing special, but it certainly doesn't taste bad.

[She thinks it's a bit tacky too, but then again she's been to Disneyland]

Shogunate - Night Time

Ganondorf had succeeded in obtaining all the loot in record time. But as night fell and he headed towards his home by the lake, he found himself being stalked by ninjas who were running along the rooftops, positioning themselves for an ambush. He was not unaware of their presence and he kept his hand on his sword, waiting to strike. Eventually he remained still, waiting for them to make their move.

What he didn't expect was any assistance.

Shogunate - Night Time

Sitting out under a cherry tree with a book in hand, Saori watched the stranger walk by with little apparent interest. Out of the corner of her eye though, she was keenly aware of his passage. Her senses had pricked up the minute he came near, his obvious aura of power catching her attention. The dark looking man was obviously a sorcerer of some kind, and a strong one. The sense of his magic, the mixture of light and dark, wafted behind him like a blend of sweet perfume and greasy smoke. A curious individual indeed.

When he stopped she noticed him tensing, as if expecting an attack...though not from her. The faint hiss of air nearby indicated the whereabouts of the attacker, and out of curiosity for the stranger Saori intervened. She casually waved a hand, crafting a wall of air around Ganondorf to block the blowdart and rose to her feet.

More ninja leaped from rooftops and bushes, rushing towards the big man...]

[Obi-Wan, for his part, has been intrigued by the exploration more than the prospect of a scavenger hunt. As such, he is less focused and more idly curious as he wanders through the portion of the village that has been converted into feudal Japan.

Oddly, he finds this more familiar than the more technologically advanced portion of the village, which seems rather fanciful and cartoonish for his liking.

He greets Saori with a nod and a friendly smile.]

"Hello, there."

[Reading as she was, Saori only responded Obi-Wan when he spoke, her interest in the world dulled by the good cheer of a peaceful, spring-like air.]

Good day, Hige-san. [From around the book, of course]

Day 1?

[Grune actually isn't at all familiar with the Shogunate (or so she thinks). She does, however, think it's very interesting, and so she's gotten sidetracked from her scavenger hunting to go sightseeing instead. Having a friend to gently bring her back on track would probably be a good idea--especially one that could help her understand this pretty new place.

Oh, and pay her Meiji-era clothing no mind. It's just one more piece of inaccuracy to layer on top of all the others.]

[Saori does in fact spot Grune meandering around the Shogunate, and decides that perhaps it'd be a good idea to not let her wander around too much. She comes up behind Grune and taps her gently on the shoulder.

And yes, she's ignoring the travesty that is her costume.]
