Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

Loki | All Days | Twila

[For Loki, it doesn't feel so much like possession, as just coming home, falling into a lover's arms. It starts with a dream, a nightmare, but this one is different. He's always asking himself why he bothers to feel anything but anger, why he still feels hurt, why he still feels doubt, why he still wants as the twisted memories unfold.

Hel, why he still feels angry when none of that should be able to touch him. He is far better than all of them, after all.

He'd much rather not care. He'd much rather see it all burn and see something new grow in its wake.

And this time, a voice in the darkness offers, And why not? You shouldn't have to. Observe.

It's a relief and a promise and a delightful shiver. It's something he never quite had and always wanted. He feels the pull of chaos more pure than his own, chaos that has never been bent by the rules of false parents or the pull of emotion. He embraces it with open arms.

And when he wakes, the world is a different place.]

[Loki embraces the chaos and self interest of Twila as something completely natural. That's always been the foundation of his very being, something that cannot be changed no matter what is layered on top of it. And he's ready to have fun.

It's not about evil, or hurting people; he simply doesn't care if anyone gets hurt, not that he did much to begin with. But he cares far less about artificial concepts like image, like the strategic game of convincing people to be on his side. Particularly not when they're ones who can't be convinced now.

He moves freely around with his suddenly useful wings and looks for situations to prod and people to poke, places where he can sow chaos. His favorite trick rapidly becomes manipulating shadows with the newfound augmentation and then giving then substance or extra effects with magic, hiding them with illusions, or adding other trickery.

It feels so very, very good.]

Out on the edge of town there was a pale woman in blue looking at trees. Something about her would feel oddly familiar though as for a brief second it appeared that there was a hammer in her hand and a crack of thunder as the tree was felled.

"Hrm, it seems the bond is not as strong here... It only took one out. Perhaps I should seek out the the god the braggart blacksmith mentioned."

There are quite a few factors that draw Loki's attention, not the last of which is the noise. The more metaphysical similarities he senses leave him feeling cautious and a bit predatory.

He glides in from above and settles lightly on the branch of a nearby tree, lounging with practiced insolence. "Whatever did that poor tree do to you?"

More information would be needed before he decided how to deal with this one.

She looks up and tilts her head slightly, peering over the newcomer.

"Hrm, an interesting thought, but one I didn't consider. It merely was a means of seeing how much I have lost to this place. Still, as trees go, I suppose it was in my way."

"Ghastly mistake on the tree's part," he observes dryly. Not that he gives a toss about a tree. Something new will grow in its wake.

But.

"I should think if you want a test of strength, there are so many more options about that would provide more of a challenge."

"Perhaps, but at the moment none of them are my quarry. I simply wished to know what I had at my disposal while I went looking for the next step. The magician I believe."

Don't you want to--

Rogue was well-practiced in ignoring the voices in her head. The day was not, exactly, what she would call normal, but that made her cling all the more thoroughly to her routine. So people suddenly had larger wings. It was likely just another experiment. Loki's ward hadn't gone off, so he was fine, there was no reason to check in on him...

She made it until 11 o'clock that morning before she gave in and tried to contact him via journal. When that didn't immediately reach him, she wasn't worried. He probably wasn't by his journal. No big deal. She was sure everything was fine.

Wouldn't it feel good to--

She wasn't sure everything was fine. Tired of lying to herself, Rogue left her shift well before it was over in search of her boyfriend. She'd check his house first, and if that proved unsuccessful, saddle up her horse and conduct a proper search.

Loki was out and about, thoroughly enjoying himself; perhaps he spotted her before she spotted him. He was eager to see her, however, in such a good mood and wanting to share it. He knew precisely how to share it, too.

He dropped from the sky and landed in the path, pausing to lean against a nearby tree as he offered her a grin. "Fancy meeting you here."

Rogue brought Penny up abruptly when Something Large dropped from the sky. She was on edge, the voices in her mind agitated and an unfamiliar tugging in her mind was more than enough to have her be a bit more cautious. When she saw who it was, she smiled with relief. "Hey."

She began dismount --Wait--

"I was lookin' for you."

--Loki doesn't fly.

Her feet on the ground, Rogue paused, giving Loki a once over. She wasn't what anyone would call spiritually sensitive by any measure, but in her approximately two years in Luceti, Rogue had managed to form bonds with Nala and Eferin. It wasn't those bonds, however, that had her pause. It was Loki himself. She'd made quite a study of him in the past few months. There was something different to him, something appealingly vital that tugged at someplace within her as well as some sort of... something. Something unfamiliar and something that wasn't quite... right.

"Since when did you take up fallin' from the sky?"

Loki laughed. He hadn't felt to relaxed, so very comfortable in his own skin in years. "This morning, actually. It must be some new shift, I suppose. If you look around, there's quite a few people sporting larger wings. Might as well enjoy them while we have them, yes?"

He held out a hand to her.

[touchofrogue]

He sounded exactly like himself, and there was that laugh she loved. Rogue stepped over to him and placed her gloved hand in his, smiling, "I guess so. I must be behind. Though usually it's not just somethin' changing on the outside. You're feeling all right? No sudden urges to go drink mint chocolate milkshakes?"

She'd been worried about him, and it was something that was hard to just set aside. Her wings were currently as they ever were, and it was a strange contrast to see her small white ones opposed to his large black wings.

Day one

As had been her custom since Ben vanished, Adele swung by Loki's home before locking herself away in her office for the remainder of the day. No food to be offered, just tea and a weary series of observations she's made whilst pouring over the past interactions between the Malnosso and the village's inhabitants over the network for as far back as she was able to read. Whatever wasn't locked away, she looked over. Took note and notice of and kept notes on. To collude with someone is to understand their intent, and whilst playing the long game it was never a bad idea to have a feel for what the Malnosso had desired in the past.

The wings caught her first. That they were large- the same size as those of the third party and if something had gone horribly wrong and Loki could and would kill for whatever that army believed in- she needed to run. To talk to Stark or Steve or Thor, cut her losses, cut the plan, and bolt.

Not that she would get terribly far.

"...that is a new look for you."

"Hm? Oh yes. Functional wings. Who would have thought." He grinned at Adele. "You're looking a bit strained today Adele, is something amiss?"

Day one

"Larger, I think, than even those on the Third Party members." That, now. Were they of the same size, she could understand better. But larger? By a small margin, yes, but she'd studied them well enough to see it. The color was only mildly disconcerting. "...the usual. Another day here, another day without sufficient answers, of patching up idiots that are not careful enough in this relatively safe...how do you put it? Fishbowl?"

Day one

He nodded. "Please, sit. I'll get you a cup of tea." He headed into the kitchen to start boiling water and completing that little ritual. "I am concerned about you, Adele. You do not take time for yourself." He snorted, pouring water over the tea leaves. "Well, you do not take time for yourself that doesn't involve me and large quantities of alcohol from what I've seen."

Day one

Now that was odder still. Well. Not entirely. They were fairly civil to one another, offering him a project did wonders for his mood and she hadn't released that recording and he had been feeling quite well the past few weeks. It wasn't terribly odd at all now that she thought of it. Inside she went and down she sat, sagging in the chair in a blatant show of weariness and vulnerability previously only saved for Ben.

But Ben was gone, and she was tired. Loki wouldn't take advantage of it. There was no reason for him to do so.

"For all this place is timeless I do not have the time to take any for myself outside of drills and training." Endlessly training. "...and those. Though I have been refraining from them more often than not. I dislike using alcohol as a crutch."

Day 2

[hisapprentice]

[Luke scares fairly easily on a normal day. He's outside the stables, making bits of hay swirl up into tiny cyclones (and blasting the occasional passer-by with them), when he sees something move inside the building.]

Eh? Who's here? [And when he goes to stick his head into the darkness of the doorway, the shadowy clawed hands that reach for him have him backpedaling hard enough to land outside on his English gentleman bottom. Yelping.]

Day 2

[The shadow, very helpfully, chatters at him in a creepy way.

Yet none of the horses seem all that alarmed.

Another shadow shifts outside, Loki alighting on the roof of the stable.]

[Oh good someone who might be able to handle this thing.]

Th-there's something in there!

Oh dear. It sounds like you have quite the dilemma, then. [Loki couches on the roof, elbow propped on his knee, chin in hand.]

Aren't you worried about the horses, then? They're all still inside!

Day 1?

[breezing]

[ Ikki's wings are the same pale yellow and mini size as always, although it's hard to miss the sudden changes in so many of the people she knows. She's correctly classed it as an experiment, and is somewhat put out she doesn't get big wings, too, but is otherwise cheerfully curious and amused.

Loki plus new wings gets her to go straight over to him when she notices him in town, open curiosity on her face. ]

Hey! You've got them, too! Have you tried flying yet?

[Loki grins at her. Ikki is his, mentally cataloged as a possession by the spirit that had taken him so thoroughly. Therefore, someone to play with and perhaps convince, as no spirit had taken her yet.

Children, no matter how kind, still have a chaotic nature beneath it all; perhaps that is one reason Loki has always liked them.]

Hello, Ikki. I have, and it's ever so fun.

Would you like to come along?

[breezing]

[ She hasn't yet discovered which wings belong to which, and even if she had - well, she'd probably give him the same grin. ]

Sure! I've got my glider, now. Uncle Sokka made me one for Christmas!

All right, let's have a bit of fun then. If you get tired of gliding about I can also carry you as well.

A shame your own wings haven't changed at all yet, but perhaps later.
