Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[He's frantically trying to put out the fire. Creating more in the process of course, and all the while actually enjoying himself, despite the danger. But that doesn't curb his irritability.]

What does it look like!? My house is on fire!

Oh, do calm down.

[Thunder rumbles and she floats down to the ground, the cloud beneath her turning dark as it expands to cover his house in a dark ring. Rain begins to pour down now, dampening the fire for the moment. It's a start at least]

A little fire like that is no reason to get so worked up.

[misterbrief]

And now I'm wet. [His hair is starting to droop. It only stays up when it's dry!] I think it's a pretty good reason to be upset. Everything on that side of the house was on fire if you didn't notice.

[windandrain]

[Deftly, Saori sent an eddy of wind at Vegeta, drying him.]

Was on fire. Isn't now. If it happens again, just call me. But...how did it start in the first place?

[misterbrief]

[He just sighs. He can't win, can he? At least he's dry now.]

I slammed a cupboard shut and it caught fire. [He folds his arms. Yes, that's seriously how it happened.]

[windandrain]

...You're serious, aren't you?

[misterbrief]

Do I look like the kind of being to be making childish jokes? Yes, of course I'm serious!

[windandrain]

...Give me your hand.

[She holds out a palm.]

I want to see something.

[misterbrief]

[He's very hesitant, giving a strange look first but gives her his hand.

What are you doing Saori, he's not sure if he likes this.]

[windandrain]

[Saori held his hand firmly, feeling out with her supernatural senses. And sure enough...found the heat and magic she associated with Eferin.

Clicking her tongue irritably, she let his hand go.]

Possession. Strongly so.

[misterbrief]

[Despite the fact that he wasn't fully aware he was possessed by something at this point, he's really not surprised. Like honestly, it's not like this hasn't happened already to him a few times before and it's no wonder it's happening again.]

At least this time I'm in control of myself. I've had worse. Go on, tell me what it is, I'm guessing it's one of those spirits here in Luceti that has fire magic. It would explain the wings.

[windandrain]

It is. Eferin I believe, the spirit of flame. Given the heat, that's the obvious conclusion.

[She looks at the wings]

I imagine you could fly with those, too.

[misterbrief]

As if I needed them to fly. They're nothing but a nuisance now. [But they made him look pretty badass, as he spreads them out to give them a little test.] Possessing me and giving me magic, it figures. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's magic. [But...]

But the destructive force this can create might prove useful. And if I'm going to be stuck with it I'm going to destroy something.

[windandrain]

Well, magic has it's uses.

[Says the being of magic.]

But if you need to destroy something then...why not visit the beach? We can always use more glass...

[misterbrief]

Please, I've got better things to do than that. [glass lol]

What do you know of this fiasco anyway? Am I going to be stuck like this or will it pass just like every other cockimany occurrence? [This is important to him; because he does not like being possessed first off and secondly- how long does he get to keep the fire magic?]

[windandrain]

I know that the filial spirits are joining people. I know that one tried to invade my body and I had to drive it out. And I know you're possessed by one.

That is all I can say, but I suspect it will end like any experiment here.

[misterbrief]

Eferin huh. [It makes him a little angry, which causes that fire to come jumping out of his hand, falling and hitting the grass, causing that to catch fire too.

Welp. This is going to be fun now isn't it.]

I'm going to burn down the entire village at this rate. Gah, this is ridiculous.

[windandrain]

[She calls down her clouds again, surrounding him with moistened air to dampen the flames and put out the grass.]

The beach. Let's go. It's hard to burn sand.

[misterbrief]

[He growls. He's being forced to go isn't he. He doesn't want to go. He can't burn anything there, and he secretly sort of wants to burn more things. What is he thinking!? He needs to get somewhere else. But where the hell else can he go? This sucks.]

Fine. [He is already taking to the skies, not waiting. Grumble grumble.]

[windandrain]

[She'll join him, feet whisking along through the clouds. This'll be fun, really. Even if Vegeta doesn't think so.]

Oh, stop being grumpy. There are plenty of things you can blow up at the beach.

[misterbrief]

Like what? If you mean I'll have the opportunity to blow up the docks, then perhaps you're right. [NOPE, STILL GRUMPY.]

[windandrain]

I've found it fun just making giant geysers of sand...

[misterbrief]

Geysers of sand? [That's...a good idea, actually.] You know, that sounds fun. Let's give it a try.

[windandrain]

[Well, when they arrive...Saori will start off by creating a gust of wind that kicks up a veritable mountain of sand!]

[He grins.] Yes.

[He's taking his hands and trying to figure out how to use this new fire power he's acquired. Perhaps if he taps into it and focuses it like ki. So he tries it, first aiming out towards the water and letting a fire blast go. Ha. Awesome.
