What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

Yeah.

Every world seems to have different types of... well I guess you could call it magic, even though that's not what we consider bending to be.

... Yeah, seems that way. I can do some things with fire, but... nothing like that. Not even Axel could really do that, and he used fire a lot.

[ Then again Kohan's primary element is more darkness, so. ]

[Zuko gives him a curious look.]

Really? What can you do?

It's... not much.

[ He holds up his hand, and after a second, blueish fire starts to swirl around it. It soon builds to the point where the fireball is large enough that it's engulfing his hand. Without much better target, he points his hand up towards the sky and the fireball shoots off upwards. ]

I can make it bigger... but that's about it.

[Blue flames. Like Azula. This has Zuko frowning for a moment, but he catches himself. This kid obviously doesn't know any better.]

That's not bad. Blue fire is hard to do.

Is that something you've picked up since you've been here, or did you some here knowing it already?

I've practiced a lot here, so I'm better at it now. But I could do this before, too.

Guess I've... never really used red fire. [ It usually only turns red when it lights other things on fire. Not that that happens often! But. It happens sometimes. ]

It's not bending though, is it? It's something from your world.

[If he knew more about making that color flame he could help, but it requires a sort of coldness of spirit that he doesn't have.]

Right... it's not. It's... the power of darkness, sort of. From my world.

[twodragons]

The power of darkness.

[He gets a flat look and a raised eyebrow for that one.]

[ Yeah, seems like that went over about as well as he was expecting it to. ]

Where I'm from, the power of darkness can be used to make you much stronger. It's not a problem if you can control it. As long as you don't let it control you.

I think I would be wary of using anything called the power of darkness.

Even if you think you're in control of it, it sounds like the sort of thing that would come back and bite you later.

Yeah, but I know what I'm doing.

[ He sounds just a bit defensive when he says it.

He fucked it up once before and isn't going to let it happen again okay. ]

You realize that's not a very convincing argument, right?

Then don't use it yourself. I'm doing just fine.

If you say so. It's not magic from my world, after all.

So where does your power come from?

[twodragons]

From the sun!

I think. Mostly.

[personafalsify]

The... sun? How?

[ You're gonna have to explain that one... ]

[twodragons]

I'm not... really sure. But it's like how water benders can get power from the moon. My bending is stronger during the day than it is at night.

Probably because the sun is made of.... fire. Or something.

[So scientific.]

So... do you think people from other worlds could learn to do it, too?

[ Just curious. ]

[twodragons]

I don't know. I think they can learn something like it, at least with the spirits. But I don't know if it would be exactly the same as bending.

[personafalsify]

But if it's with the spirits, that's definitely different, isn't it?

[twodragons]

Well... yeah. But at least it's still manipulating elements, right?

[personafalsify]

But... is that all it is? Maybe... there's something more to it. What you do in your world. That sort of thing. I mean, people can do it on their own, right? So what about it makes it so people can do that?

I'm not too great with the details...

Learning how to do it in my own world was hard enough. Hearing about others puts everything in a whole new perspective, ans it's a little hard to deal with.
