A Gaang Reunion

What: Zuko and Toph's arrival.

Summary: Toph and Zuko arrive at the house and information is shared.
Rating: PG, May contain spoilers from "The Search." 


Thanks to Appa, the journey to the village was significantly shorter than if he and Toph had walked. Which Zuko took note of as he watched the terrain pass beneath them while on the bison's back. 

Once they were in contact with the ground again, Zuko effortlessly slid off Appa's back and looked at the house that now stood before them. It was no palace, but it was certainly a decent size. 

"Hello?" he called out. Though Zuko was sure that Appa's arrival hadn't gone unnoticed.

It was certainly no palace, but it did have a giant water slide out back from the second floor to a giant pond out back. Not to mention indoor plumbing!

Katara didn't hear Zuko through the thick walls, but she was on her way out anyway. Opening the door, she stopped abruptly. "Zuko?"

She probably looked a little different than Zuko may remember, what with being eighteen and all.

Upon hearing his name, Zuko looked up, a bit surprised at what he saw.

"Katara?"

She did look different. Older. Maybe about his age. Thus he probably looked a little different to her too considering he's also eighteen.

"Toph!"

Feeling left out, Toph adds in her two cents. But then she notices something off about Katara-- she feels heavier, taller. Older. And then Toph groans aloud and complains.

"...Man, why is it everybody's so much older than I remember?"

And then I fell off the internet... sorry guys!

Toph.

"Toph!"

Katara hadn't even seen her, and now her gaze flickered from Zuko to Toph and beyond, hoping and frightened at the same time--

But no. No Sokka.

She let out a shaky laugh. "Wow. Welcome back, you two!"

Katara stepped out to greet them with - what else - hugs.

Welcome back!

[Nobody had said that Katara was here, but Zuko couldn't say he wasn't happy to see her. Thus he accepted and returned the hug with a small smile.]

Thanks, Katara.

But... neither of us remember being here.

Yeah, what Sparky said.

[Toph sidles over and joins in on the hug. Because why the hell not.]

But at least almost everybody's here.

[Yeah, she noticed the lack of Sokka too. Though honestly, Toph's just as glad he's not here-- one more person so much older than she remembers and she might just go make a rock tent somewhere else to sleep.]

[Aang stops by a little later, with a basket full of some goodies from the bakery, as he promised. And he keeps himself focused on how glad he is to be able to see his friends again, instead of the negative aspects of Luceti life. And as he enters, he looks around for both of them.]

[Despite the odd look to the house with the appliances and such that he's not use to, Zuko has started to make himself at home.

Still in new feather pants, he's sitting at the far end of the dining room table. His elbow on the table itself while he stares out the window in thought. Still processing everything that's happened.

Although he hears Aang come in, he doesn't respond right away.]

Zuko? [He'd recognize that fiery grump anywhere. And he hastens his pace over towards the table, giving a quick formal bow. This Zuko is definitely the fire lord after all.]

Hey! It's great to see you, Your Fieriness!

[lordhotman]

[Broken out of his thoughts, Zuko looks up and stands.]

You don't have to do that. I'm not the Fire Lord here, and we're friends.

You can be Your Fieriness and a friend! But I get what you mean. [He doesn't think he should be called an Avatar here, himself. Also, he's gleeful at Zuko openly calling him a friend.] It's still good to see you, Zuko.

[Toph had wandered off herself for a bit, looking for the Welcome Center, so it's a little later even when she finally makes it back. Thankfully, she had help on the way-- but even so.]

It's nice to know you're still light on your feet despite getting so much heavier, Aang.

Toph! [He smiles at the sight of her and approaches, his basket since deposited on the table. But then he pauses insecurely.] I'm getting heavier...?

[melon_lord]

Well, yeah, of course. I mean, there's more of you to begin with.

[Huhuhu.]

You were a lot shorter.

[savedtheworld]

Oh. Right, that. [He rubs at his head with a nervous chuckle. He has probably put on more muscle, too.]

And you're shorter than I remember! But that's not the important part.

[The important part is scooping the little earthbender in a reunion hug.]

Fashionably late to the party

[Iroh predictably had prepared some tea for the gathering, and had got to setting out some suitable tea cups. He had chosen Ginseng tea for the occasion. It was after all his favourite, and it was a good day. He has a big beaming smile when Zuko and Toph arrive]

Welcome welcome!

Better late than never!

[Zuko is looking around as they come in, but when he sees his uncle and the tea spread, he relaxes a little. At least there are some familiar people and things in such a strange place.]

Thank you, uncle.

[There's a pause as its obvious he's still a bit uncomfortable with this whole situation they've found themselves in. He's eager for that promised explanation.]

Yes indeed.

[Iroh inclines his head politely]

You are quite welcome, Zuko. Please, take a seat, I think this is an explanation better taken while sitting.

[He gestures to the table and has a seat himself]

[Zuko hesitates a moment.]

Wait... before you start. Can you tell me what you last remember from home?

[He then sits.]

[Iroh nods]

Certainly. It was when we had all met up at the Jasmine Dragon.

BELATEDLY SLIDES IN...

[breezing]

Ikki can be found inside the house, sitting at the dining room table with what appears to be math homework spread out around her. She is entirely okay with being interrupted from it, since it is her least favorite kind of homework and...well, okay, she's just okay with being interrupted from any homework at all. She's eight, give her a break.

Soren is perched on a chair beside her, and she'll look up when someone comes in or calls hello. "Ye-es?"

HELLO THERE...

"...Oh. ...Ikki, right? You're a lot smaller than I expected."

Toph can't say she's fond of homework either. In fact, she avoids it like the plague it really is. Course, she can't really tell what those pieces of paper actually are.

i've been a bit busy my apologies

[breezing]

"I'm eight." So of course she's small! ...But no, she doesn't sound like she minds in the least, it's just the explanation as to why this is a thing. And of course she promptly abandons the table and her homework, though Soren trills a warning - she's going to get scolded later! - because clearly it can be put off a little longer. "You're here! Do you want to see your room? Some of the art I made you is still there."

IT'S OKAY so have I

Toph winces at the sharp trill, but otherwise mostly just looks a bit surprised. "My...room?" Oh, that's right-- somehow, Toph keeps forgetting that she's technically been here before. "Yeah, okay. I guess. What's with the bird?"

[breezing]

"It has a rock in it! You left it there, one of the other times. This way." She hops off her chair and starts towards the first-floor room belonging to Toph previously; her footsteps are as light as Aang's, or perhaps lighter due to her smaller size. Soren doesn't move, apparently deciding he doesn't have to join in. "Soren? Soren's my partner. He's a pokemon, which is an animal from another world that...they find humans to partner with, and they train and stuff. Some of them battle, but we haven't done much of that."
