Summary: Ginia throws a movie marathon at the rec center for entertainment and post-draft distractions.
Rating: PG-13 for some of the movies shown, but let's keep it around here or lower.


On Thursday, flyers were posted around the village with another notification of the movie marathon and the list of movies that will be shown:

The Sword in the Stone
Grease
Robin Hood: Men in Tights
Moulin Rouge
The Princess Bride
Jurassic Park
Clue
Rocky Horror Picture Show

Come Saturday, the list can also be found outside the rec center. Inside the center, there are tables set up filled with food: fruit and veggie platters, cookies and cake from the bakery, sandwiches, packages of popcorn (with a microwave nearby), and an assortment of packaged candy. As food begins running low, runners will be sent to the stores to bring back more. There are also drinks - water, sodas, juices, tea, and coffee. Alcohol is bring your own, but Ginia also has a small table set aside with some gin, whisky, vodka, and mixers.

Besides what seating is already in the rec center, additional chairs, large cushions, and even two beanbag chairs have been brought in. For those who want to hang out but not watch movies, there's still pool, board games, and a few deck of cards.

Enjoy, relax, and try not to think about the draft.

[God knows the Cajun liked a good distraction, and a movie night really did fit the bill. It would help to break up tension from the draft, try and return everything to as normal as Luceti could be.

Most of the night Remy lazing around and enjoying the movies he's interested in, and for those he weren't he splits his time between the pool table and teaching any of those willing to take him on at poker a thing or two.

As Rocky Horror starts playing, he absolutely makes the most of having memorized the songs. Who didn't love the Time Warp?]

[Hey Poker!

Evan had seen the Cajun around, but had not gotten around to greeting the man. However seeing him at the table with a deck of cards gave him a great chance. So he wandered over, a friendly smile on his face.]

Hey. Wanna play a game?

Only if you buy her a drink first

Bonjour homme, what ya flavour? Hold'em, draw?

[New faces in Luceti were a mixed blessing, means new people around to get to know and possibly someone else showing up from his world, but also meant the poor suckers were stuck now.]

[ Red isn't entirely engrossed in any of the movies, and it's through one -- having glanced a few times at the pool table when it was played before -- that he decides to get up to go over to it. He waits until the man's taken a shot though to speak- ]

Do you mind if I watch?

[Walking around the table as he debated what his next shot would be, Remy glanced to Red before offering a smile.]

Ya welcome to join if ya want, ain't much fun soloin' a game.

[pokeboy]

[ Oh, it was a two player game? He looks at the table, the stick the man is holding- ]

I've never played before... [ Um ] Do I just have to hit all balls into the holes with the white one?

Everyone gotta start somewhere.

Oui, that be the main goal, but when ya playin' 'gainst someone, gets a touch more complicated. One person aims to down all the solid colour balls, the other aims for the striped ones. [Remy explain, pointing each out in turn.] Whoever gets theirs gone first, then sinks the black, wins.

Mais, bein' a friendly game, 'nd ya learnin', ain't that big an issue to start with.

[ He sees the differences. He hadn't noticed the stripes before, but. ]

So I can try to hit any for now? But the black one is for last always. [ Right? ]

Tell ya what, give a go at 'ny of them. Can take a bit of practice to get the feel of how to use the cue, [Just in case Red didn't know what he referred to, Remy pointed to an extra cue that sat waiting to be used.] 'nd how the balls react dependin' where ya hit them.

See how ya go, then we can set up a friendly game for ya to try out.

[ Oh, thank you for going easy on the complete and utter newbie. Red goes for that cue pointed to first, picking it up and feeling how awkwardly weighted it is in his hands. He looks at it, then at the table before he walks up to it.

Okay, so. Time to do the awkward fumbling one does when they have the barest idea of how to hold a cue. The end part definitely didn't go over the shoulder, so uhhh, let's just put that under the arm, and... wait, if one hand goes somewhere near the front of the cue, where does the second hand go? Under the other arm? But I can't move now??

[Hey, the kid had to learn somehow, but it didn't mean Remy was going to leave him to figure it all out by himself.]

Ok, hold it in ya- are ya right handed or left? Whatever be ya dominant hand, hold the cue 'bout here, []Remy held his own cue on the lower half of its length.] for now, may need to adjust it as ya go.

How ya hold ya hand on the table be different for each person, give it a go 'nd see what feels best. [Leaning over the table, as if to shoot, Remy showed Red how his own preference, using his knuckles as a rest for his cue.]

Like this, [He flattened his hand out, resting it against the table top and sitting his cue on that.] Might be easier to start with. [Worse case, Remy would grab the cross rest for Red to use.]

[ Red hoped that he might've been able to do it by himself, but he's not going to turn away the man's instructions. He follows by eyes and ears, watching how he holds it and trying to copy it in his own hands. He's left handed, and what feels best on the table -- well, a little early possibly for the newbie to know, and while both of the positions are strange to the touch, he goes for what's meant to be easier. Best to start off with that.

He moves the cue stick gently back and forth -- without much grace, -- trying to get a feel for the way it might move. As long as he doesn't end up screwing up when actually trying for shots. ]

Does the stick always feel weird when you start?

Oui, it ain't the most natural thing in the world. Give a couple of shots a go, if ya still havin' trouble, will grab something else to help ya out.

All be 'bout practice, no one masters this in one game.

[ He'll try it first without the extra help, though lingers on that back and forth moment before hitting the white ball. It turns out clunky for him, and while the ball hits the one he was aiming for, everything to how the ball rolls, how lightly it ends up hitting and not causing much movement into the one it does takes Red's interest than feeling accomplished that aw yeah, got it to hit!

(It wasn't a really amazing hit anyway.)

But he takes the man's advice to try for a few more hits, the first go leaving the white ball in an awkward position that makes him have to judge how to place his cue stick on the table. The knocks he makes aren't fantastic, still very very clunky in how they look and feel, but Red gets that maybe it's just how it's supposed to feel.

Anyway, he doesn't want to take the whole game away from the man. After two more tries he backs from the table looking at the positions of all the balls, then over to the better player. ]

What is it called again -- the game? [ He said, didn't he? ] Mais?

[When Jean shows up, she's grateful for the opportunity to socialize. The draft had been awful, and coming home to find Scott just-- gone again had been devastating. She knew she should deal with those feelings, sooner rather than later, but for now? For just one evening? She was going to pretend like everything was ok.

Spotting Remy, she saunters over, making no real attempt to be sneaky as she approaches him from behind, putting one hand on his shoulder, and the other over his eyes, both loose touches.]

Guess who.

[cajunspice]

[Now this could be a fun, yet also dangerous, little game. Depending on how Remy wanted to treat it.]

I donno, I think I need to feel 'bout to figure that out. [He raised a hand from where it rested on the back of the couch he sat on, moving it around towards her direction in a comedic and over the type gesturing way.]

[She laughs, and deftly levitates out of the way, keeping her hands in place as she does.]

That sounds an awful lot like cheating, to me.

Since when do I play by the rules, hein? [He couldn't help it, Jean was damn fun to flirt with, and had little risk on it backfiring in his face.]

True enough. [Removing her hands from his person, she floats down so she's sitting on the back of the couch, next to him. She's considerate enough to not wear her shoes when she does this, so the couch seats won't get all mucky.] What are we watching?

[Moving his hands to link his fingers behind his head, Remy sat comfortably, feet stretched out in front of him and crossed at the ankles as he slouched deep into the couch.]

Robin Hood: Men in Tights, been 'while since I've seen it.

Hmm, isn't that about some out-law ladies man who's too clever for his own good, and always stealing things? I can't imagine why you would want to watch this.

[cajunspice]

I know, a mystery, ain't it? [Ok, he'll admit, Remy was drawn to movies that showed heists, even if just to mock them for what they did wrong. He needed a hobby...]

'nd can't turn down a good laugh, hein?

That's right, this movie's a comedy, not a drama. Yeah, it's good to have something to laugh over. [she agrees, friendly.]

[After such events, which they hadn't really caught up since the draft.]

How ya doin' Jeanie? [Places a hand on her knee in a friendly gesture, the tone of flirting gone from his words now.]

Holding up. [Her response is honest, though still on the light side of things. ] Things are less than awesome, but they're definitely better than they were. so I can't really complain. ... You?
