[Winry couldn't tell if she enjoyed that little time of thinking she lived in Sokka's world or not. In some ways she really enjoyed the experience, and felt closer to one of her best friends. In other ways it only cemented some ideas that had been clawing at the back of her mind. She needed to deal with them. Doubt, uncertainty, and fear kept her from doing so before. However she cannot put it off any longer. She wants to make a family. She wants to marry and have children, and she wants it soon. However Haruhi isn't nearly ready for that. She can tell. The air between them lately hasn't been the same, either, so perhaps it really is time. And as they walk back from a night date at Cloud Nine the two share an umbrella.
Winry thinks about how her shoes are lightly soaked as her conversation with Haruhi finds a lull. Now's her chance. She speaks up.]

Hey, Haruhi? Can I ask you something?

Huh? Sure thing, Winry.

[Her own mood is. Well, she just had a nice night out with her girlfriend. Yes, there's been weird moments between them and yes, she is intuitive enough to sense there is something clouding Winry's mind but it was a nice night, listening to music, some dancing, dinner, and drinks (albeit non-alcoholic at least in her case). Really, a serious talk isn't in anything further than the back of her mind under this umbrella]

[Winry brushes back some of her bangs before speaking. Her hair was still brown from the unfortunate dye incident, but at least it's slowly fading with time and shampoo. Give it a while, and it should be back to normal.]

Have you ever thought about the future? Like what you'll be doing- or what you want to be doing in five years?

[godbent]

[...This again. Not that it has been this direct before, but they've had this chat before. She shifts the umbrella. Um]

Well, for the foreseeable future, I've got to help get an end of Luceti.

[reoccurred]

[Winry has heard that all before. She won't argue that it's a foolish idea. If there was anyone who could stop Luceti it'd be the people who are trapped in it. They just need more time. But that isn't what she's concerned about now.]

But what about your personal life? What about a family?

[godbent]

Personal life? [...] Well, I don't know. I guess I just want to remain with people like you and and Shiki as long as I can.

[reoccurred]

You don't want to have kids or marry in the next five years?

[The blond looks up. She cannot see the sky, but the street lights allow the rain drops to cast shadows, and she listens to them as they fall on her umbrella.]

[godbent]

[...This again]

...Maybe? I don't know, Winry. The idea... [scares me. She wonders if Winry can even begin to understand that]

Those are things I want.

[She continues to look up at the umbrella that shields them from the pouring rain.]

[godbent]

[Haruhi, however, looks sidelong at Winry's face. Well, sidelong and up and less at her face and more at her chin. She frowns as well. It's not like she doesn't know that (and a part of her wonders if a male version of her might have committed - guys have it so easy, really, so would it even be as big of deal to him) but it's also not something she thinks about a lot. But right now, it's making something unfortunate coil about in her stomach]

I've wanted them for a long time, and... I feel like soon I'll be ready for them.

[godbent]

[She crosses her arms here, looking indignant as anything. She would argue that you said the same thing almost a year ago. But... That would be pointless]

By my world's standards I'm getting old, and... well by the world I though I grew up last week I should have been married years ago.

[godbent]

[Standing here, under the umbrella, indignant, fuming, and her cheeks burning with no small amount of shame, no small amount of embarrassment, she glares at... that tree over there. She bites her lip. Don't blow up, don't blow up.]

You might not value that kind of thing, but... I want to be married and have children before half my life is over.

[godbent]

[...Oops, too later] -Half of your life?! That's forty years! Menopause will get you before then!

Forty- Are you kidding me? I'm almost halfway there now! I can't have kids when I'm thirty- I'll be dead by the time they're teenagers.

[godbent]

I guess that's worst-case-scenario, but let's say best case scenario? I have kids when I'm thirty, and I die when I'm sixty. it's not uncommon in my world to die "young."

[godbent]

[...Oh. Right. right, old times vibe. Shit, she never really thought about that]

Becoming a mother... it's not a chance I want to miss.

[godbent]

[...She bites her lip again. Uh. Huh.]

And... well you don't want that.

[Her grip on the umbrella handle gets tighter. How can she say this without hurting her? This isn't about wanting to leave her for Ed. This is about wanting to make and live in a family.]

Meaning you're breaking up with me to shack up with Edward.

[...Haruhi, however, is not nearly that nice. Her biting of the lip gives way to an incredibly scathing tone here]

[Winry stops walking and shoots a look at Haruhi.]

You- Don't say that! It isn't about that, and you know it!

It is about that, and you know it too! You can see it in your eyes, you can feel it in how you talk about him!
