[Winry couldn't tell if she enjoyed that little time of thinking she lived in Sokka's world or not. In some ways she really enjoyed the experience, and felt closer to one of her best friends. In other ways it only cemented some ideas that had been clawing at the back of her mind. She needed to deal with them. Doubt, uncertainty, and fear kept her from doing so before. However she cannot put it off any longer. She wants to make a family. She wants to marry and have children, and she wants it soon. However Haruhi isn't nearly ready for that. She can tell. The air between them lately hasn't been the same, either, so perhaps it really is time. And as they walk back from a night date at Cloud Nine the two share an umbrella.
Winry thinks about how her shoes are lightly soaked as her conversation with Haruhi finds a lull. Now's her chance. She speaks up.]

Hey, Haruhi? Can I ask you something?

You might not value that kind of thing, but... I want to be married and have children before half my life is over.

[...Oops, too later] -Half of your life?! That's forty years! Menopause will get you before then!

[reoccurred]

Forty- Are you kidding me? I'm almost halfway there now! I can't have kids when I'm thirty- I'll be dead by the time they're teenagers.

[godbent]

[reoccurred]

I guess that's worst-case-scenario, but let's say best case scenario? I have kids when I'm thirty, and I die when I'm sixty. it's not uncommon in my world to die "young."

[godbent]

[...Oh. Right. right, old times vibe. Shit, she never really thought about that]

Becoming a mother... it's not a chance I want to miss.

[godbent]

[...She bites her lip again. Uh. Huh.]

[reoccurred]

And... well you don't want that.

[Her grip on the umbrella handle gets tighter. How can she say this without hurting her? This isn't about wanting to leave her for Ed. This is about wanting to make and live in a family.]

[godbent]

Meaning you're breaking up with me to shack up with Edward.

[...Haruhi, however, is not nearly that nice. Her biting of the lip gives way to an incredibly scathing tone here]

[Winry stops walking and shoots a look at Haruhi.]

You- Don't say that! It isn't about that, and you know it!

[godbent]

It is about that, and you know it too! You can see it in your eyes, you can feel it in how you talk about him!

[reoccurred]

This isn't about him, it's about us! Haven't you felt it? What do you feel when we talk!? Didn't it still feel the same last week? When I barely even knew him!?

[godbent]

[Yes but-] Shut up, shut up!

You're in love with him, you never stopped! So what am I, a speed bump?!

[And ignoring if Winry tilts the umbrella she'll be rained on she pokes a finger into Winry's chest]

Do you really think I would view you that way? What kind of person do you think I am, Haruhi? You're the person I've known the longest in Luceti, my first for more things than I can count on one hand, and so much more. How can you say all of that would be a "speed bump" to me!?

[godbent]

["Because it's not what you wanted"

But she doesn't bite that out. She can't be that cruel. She pouts, crossing her arms almost defensively]

I love you, but we don't want the same things. I want to commit to a family, and you don't. I don't want you to leave my life. I can't imagine being in Luceti without seeing you as often as I do, but I can't keep growing older and ignoring how much I want to be a wife and mother.

[godbent]

[The sadness hasn't hit her yet. Nor has the grief or the pleading or defensiveness or any of that really. Haruhi's still seeing read. She went out on a nice date, they dressed up, and now this. in the rain. she wants to scream and shove Winry, but no. Breathe. Breath. Stew and Breathe and avoid eye contact]

I haven't stopped loving you, and... I don't think I ever will. You're a large part of my life that I never want to forget or have go away. Don't you believe me?

[godbent]

I want to, anyway.

[Bite your lip. Take a step away. Don't lose your pride]

What do you mean want to? Am I some kind of bad guy for wanting these things? Or are you accusing me of wanting to run off with someone because you think I don't love you anymore?

Because if it's that you better get your head on straight. If it was really that this would have happened a long time ago, wouldn't it?
[Winry uses her emphatically, and because of that the umbrella moves. Her back and left shoulder begin to have rain fall upon them, but Winry pays no mind.]

[godbent]

[Bite your lip, bite your lip.

...So not working]

You've been waiting to forget me.

[reoccurred]

[Winry throws down the umbrella as her face contorts. No, she won't cry. She wont. Winry bites her own lips as the rain soaks her, and the umbrella rolls on the ground.]

Do you really thing that? You honestly think I'm that kind of person? I never want to forget you. Why are you saying that?

[Haruhi lower's her face as the rain's starting to come down on her too. Stupid- this is going to mess up her hair and this hairband. This dress is so not suited for rain either. Stupid, stupid Suzumiya why are you even thinking about that? Why are you even voicing what you know to be the truth in the deep corners of your heart?

...And perhaps more importantly, why can't you stop?]

Well a---aren't you?! Every time we talk about it, you're always talking about how you'll go home and forget everything! With resignation, hell, Winry, with hope sometimes! I can hear it in how you're speaking! You think I don't know you well enough to sense it?!
