Summary: The next experiment begins, Naoki takes a turn for the crazy worst—there are too many humans here, after all, and obviously this needs to be fixed. Meanwhile, Isamu shoulders the role of ‘demi-fiend’.
Rating: PG-13

[She hesitates, if only because she's not sure what she should expect when she comes back but...] I'll be as fast as I can, all right?

[That? Is worrying him too.] Okay. [A small nod, and then a glance to the side.] ...Be careful.

I'll be fine! I'll come back for you in a while, okay? [She doesn't wait for an answer, quickly turning away and heading to the village to look for the store. At the very least, she can get something easy to eat without cooking first.]

[Naoki just turns to tilt his head back and look up at the sky, arms leaning across his knees. He closes his eyes briefly--just keep in control.]

[It takes a while, as Ted wasn't exactly sure what to bring, but later on she does end up returning with a bag full of assorted food, ranging from fruits to canned goods, chips, drinks, cookies... anything that looked like Naoki could eat for the time being.]

[Red eyes open and drift over to her as soon as he hears her returning.] You actually came back.

I said I would. [The color doesn't escape her notice though.] Not this again...

[He smiles slowly and rises to his feet.] You're really too nice, Ted.

[Damn.] I try. [Putting down that grocery bag then.] Give me a break and turn back into the Naoki I know for a moment, won't you?

That part of me is too weak-willed...too human, you know. [Fire explodes in his palms as he takes a step forward.] It's why it can't keep in control.

[Calm down, Ted. Calm down. Her own hand starts glowing though, feeling threatened.] You know a guy named Ratatta? [Yeah, not even going to say the right name.] You two must be best buddies with how you look down on humans.

Humans ruined everything. If it wasn't for them... [He stops, shakes his head with a scowl. He's done talking, and the fire flares up higher between his fingers.]

Then just stand there and let me kill you. [His eyes blink yellow, momentarily.]

[Pause.] Oh? Then what do you intend to do?

[Walking up to you with determination then.]

[Naoki's eyes change and he frowns, fire in his hands flaring up brighter.] ...what are you doing?

[She still continues on, not caring as she felt the heat of that fire when she paused in front of him.] Naoki...

[A wary growl rises up in his throat and he curls his fingers, all too ready to use the fire on her if she does anything.]

[If this was someone else, she would run. She didn't need to get into anymore trouble, and she already knows she can't win.

But damn, if she hadn't left him alone even for a moment, maybe she could have helped him stay normal. It was partially her responsibility too. In this state, he might hurt someone. Never mind if it's her, or if it was someone else. Naoki wouldn't want it. Ted didn't want it. This was so unfair.]

Naoki, you...

[She clenches her teeth, eyes flaring in annoyance. Fire or no fire, this was pissing her off seriously.]

YOU IDIOT!!

[BOOKBAG TO FACE, NAOKI 8|]

[Naoki doesn't...really expect the bookbag to the face. Normally, people wouldn't. So, when it connects, he goes stumbling backwards, eyes flaring from red to yellow in an instant as he lets out a squawk that's not at all demonic.

He falls down heavily on the ground, hands to either side of him. Stares up at her, and then lifts a hand up. Winces.]

...Ow.

[Apparently that works well to knock someone into control. Or knock demons out of it.]
